The FIRST EVER Sarasota Guitar Show!

Join me as we head to the first ever Sarasota Guitar Show (officially called the Sarasota Guitar & Amp Show)! With it being the first show we very curious how things would go. We had a larger booth so we brought out ALL the good stuff from our top Gibson Les Pauls to an array of Fender Jazzmasters and Fender Jaguars (you know I love my Fender offset guitars). Of course we brought some staples like Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters along with some of our vintage acoustic guitars.
And you know what? Everyone else brought out some equally cool gear! Lots of familiar faces among the dealers, lots of great people stopping by, lots of cool trades, and lots of good vibes. Great weekend overall! What was your favorite guitar or piece of gear you saw?

Yep,I’m getting absolutely nothing done since I found your channel. Now I know why my twin girls were into the lady opening the eggs and showing the prizes inside of them……of course they were 3 & I’m now 63! Guitars and Guns will keep me broke my entire life. Nothing but wood & steel.

I'm in love with that psychedlic Jazzmaster, that refin is gorgeous and the perfect way to spruce up something that probably started in a rough state. Also happy to see a bunch of Danos walk by the booth for potential trade, That refin Epi Explorer is also sweet!

I like this show,much more,than events like the Dallas Guitar Show.This one in Sarasota is much smaller in space,but the atmossphere here ,is much more gentile and personal/friiendly.

It was good to see you sell the Ocean Water Les Paul. I had seen you advertising it online and had considered contacting you about it, but ended up buying a new one when Gibson dropped their price on it.

When you go back to japan see if you can find any Starfield solid bodies...or semi-hollow/thinlines. Richie Kotzen was a signature artist for a hot second, which was about as long as the project lasted before j custom and LACS became real things, taking the staff and resources, displacing them from Starfield, which was a short lived project anyhow, probably never intended to last longer than to be a gateway to a few other shop sites (including what would become LACS) and product lines. RIP Mike Lipe. Hoshino has/had a couple other interesting projects too (including Heartfield, which paved the way for their Fender Japan relationship as well as proto-soundgear lines), but you'll find those along the way too.

Starfield guitars are quite cool,especially the models with Monkey Pot/Teak bodies and Lipstick pick-ups. The semi solid models were called Cabriolet. These are more offered in Germany

I have a couple (I believe) original Starfield (lawsuit era) Les Paul copies made by Ibanez. I think the Starfield brand that you mention are when they basically used the name later for a different line. While researching the brand, I came across the Starfield that you are talking about. Finding info on the original Starfield brand is difficult, but I believe that Ibanez rebranded some of their guitars as Starfield for different markets like how Harmony and Silvertone are the same with just different names. Anyway, it’s cool to come across someone mentioning Starfield. I’m pretty sure that both versions are pretty rare.

So dumb question, at these guitar shows does everyone have to pack up all their guitars at the end of each day and you take them with you, or is there 24 hour security or something at the location to keep an eye on things at night? And if you do have to pack up all the gear where do you put it? I assume not leaving it in a van/truck parked outside a hotel.

I agree, and though I still enjoy his videos, it seems like all they do at these shows is trade. We rarely see any straight up sales. Maybe they work the shows for exposure and do most of the selling on line.

Likely making money through sales, and just using this to rotate old inventory . Also, they probably aren't straight up trades, and cash is added on one end.
