We need a series that looks into these guys and their rule over Soul Society. Yes it will be a blood soaked abattoir but still the potential is just too strong. Yhwach deriding and comparing current Gotei 13 to them is both telling yet ironic. On one hand Yhwach admires brute force and the strong but again this version of Gotei 13 was his first downfall.

I hope they maintain that level of integrity we see now. It feels like once they go back and start fleshing out old characters that we only really know about in legend they lose part of their originality. Take Bardock for example, originally a ruthless Saiyan warrior who wouldn't hesitate to kill an enemy.....then they went back and wrote a little more about him and with each rewriting or addition, it feels like he becomes less of a ruthless warrior and more like they're trying to rewrite him as a hero of justice or something. And don't get me started on Itachi, that was more of a straight up retcon although.....not terrible bad.

Remember, Yuha had also revealed that back then, the squads weren't really squads, The Gotei was just 13 ruthless killers as their own divisions literally, meaning a division was just the captain and no other seats or vice captains, etc.

Chojiro was yammas Lieutenant for at least 2000 years which means there were definitely at least 2 per squad at the time of the original Quincy war

@@zakgray8182no, most likely Chojiro became a lieutenant after the war 1000 years ago, and it was with him that the recruitment of lieutenants began. Using the example of Unohana's flashback, which took place only a few centuries ago, we can observe her lieutenant. Well, the flashback of 2000 years ago showed only part of the formation of Chozhiro’s path, being only a student of Yama.

Regarding Unohana - The Scar in the flash back was an error, it has been changed in the DVD release. The first Quincy war happened before she met Kenpachi.

@@dragonk5543 based on byakuya's progression during the 100 year time skip I think they age quicker when they're younger as well. 100 years ago byakuya was between 9-12 and now he's mid 20's. We know shinigami age based on Yamamoto and his lieutenant being elderly but as you said, around 10:1 years. Nice explanation

Squad 12 captain scares me. There is so much Kubo has created that could have it's own arc, especially the old Gotei and Hell. I truly hope he doesn't get sick of bleach and keeps entertaining us.

Erm actually Unohana first met kenpachi after the quincy war. The scar on Unohana was a mistake and was later corrected with the blu-ray release.

A couple things... the OG Goteii weren't necessarily stronger than the current ones, just far more ruthless and willing to sacrifice anything in order to get things done. They weren't going to let themselves get put on the back foot just because some weaklings got hurt and/or killed, unlike the modern guys. Look at Shunsui getting shot because he was distracted by Yamamoto's death... none of the OG would let something like that phase them. Secondly, the Quincy at the time didn't have access to Volstandig and likely didn't have Schrifts. Yhwach and the surviving Quincies came up with these techniques to give them an advantage they didn't have in the first war. So, the success of the first war vs the failure of the second isn't really really reflective of the strength of the respective Goteii eras.

I completely disagree. The original gotei is regarded as the most powerful unit. It’s true that the Quincy became more powerful over the years but still. A good amount of the captains from the thousand year blood war are shown to be mid tier. When ywach stole Yamamoto's bankai he said that he can bring back Yamamoto's allies. And only people that were killed by Yamamoto's flames can be brought back. Maybe Yamamoto killed some of the original gotei members

From what we saw of the flashback, none of the Captain Class Goteii members were killed, much less by Yama... but, there is proof that Yama is at least responsible for incinerating the corpses of the fodder Shinigami, as he crushed them underfoot alongside the dead Quincies. From what I understand, it's not that Yamamoto has to directly kill somebody to have their corpse become part of his Bankai, but rather he has to incinerate the body before it decays into spirit energy and returns to the land of the Soul Society.

@@Manusia.satu1 Manga Zaraki is also the strongest person besides ichigo, this really inst a surprise, doesn't change the fact that all of the old gotei 13 makes pretty much every single one of the new ones look bad in comparison says something, they were also merciless, unlike most of the gotei 13 now, they only kill if its necessary the old gotei 13 were out for blood. Even still, this person mentioned they wanted the smoke, not who was stronger.

To be fair, Isshin was Matsumoto's original Captain. Which, if you went by that theory of Danjiro being the Shiba Ancestor, might have some added plausibility.

Old Man Yamamoto should have kept somewhat of that attitude 1k after, the Gotei 13 gave chills at the first season but eventually looked as people who lost too much of their old chill that said, most still wanted to kill Ichigo until until he proved himself to be both useful as well a great companion so that outweighed the need to slay him.

A.B.D. I have been a huge fan of your videos for a while and all of the content, especially regarding Bleach and JJK. Though as a Spanish speaker who thoroughly enjoyed the Spanish references in Tite Kubo's Bleach such as "Las Espadas" or Stark's "Los Lobos," I can't let you go on mispronouncing that glorious name "Hueco Mundo" (01:03). I looked all over for the phonetics in written form but most come up in English, the best I could do to express the closest pronunciation (which also mirrors the Japanese pronunciation due to similar phonetics with Spanish) would be "Wekko Moondough" (hope it helps). Thank you for constantly and consistently putting out amazing content that keeps me coming back to hear more about your balls-deep predictions.

Just cuz Katori is using her shikai doesn’t mean she’s the weakest… it could be that her Zanapakuto could very well just be a permanent Shikai release like Ichigo and Hitsuguya

Hear me out. The first Gotei 13 were all murdered by Yama and Unohana as they were becoming too uncontrollable. They ended up in Hell vengeful and have been training ever since, becoming strong af. They will team up with the previous Kenpachis, who also ended up in Hell, to fight the current Gotei 13 and Vizards (whom are allowed to use their masks) in the Hell Arc.

If furoshi saito is a ancestor of kyoraku, byakuya & ririka, that means fullbringers can be captain as well, I feel like she has some connections to riruka like her grandmother or smth

look i know we hate the bount arc but if they retconned it a little they basically are just fancy full bringers add them in as some one off vilians of the week fights that ichigo and co (chad, orihimie xcution crew) had to fight with their fullbrings against the bounts replacing the shimigami with moe and shukuro, as they defeate the bounts in individual fights we see shukuro do sneaky stuff to the ultimate reveal given at the end in which everyone has left ichigos side with the arc finishing as it usual does

It was Kaien Shiba who was Jushiro's former lieutenant. At the time, Ichigo was unaware he was apart of the Shiba clan and Ishhin was the uncle to Kukaku, Ganju and Kaien. Ichigo is actually Kaien's cousin.

Yes, I agree with your viewpoint, the resemblance is almost uncanny, one could even assume that Hachigen might be a less blood-thirsty version of Uhin, somewhere down the family lineage they perhaps focused on support based combat or it might be possible that Uhin"s family combat style primarily focuses on support albeit not always.

We can't really say that Katori is one of the weaker captains because she used her Shikai since even Yamamoto used his Bankai to take out Yhwach's soldiers. I doubt anyone would say he's the weakest because of this.

About Sakahone, what if instead of him being the namesake of the district, he named himself after the district the same way Kenpachi chose his surname of Zaraki. If so, it begs the question if he had some connection to the arm of the Soul King like being its host, which was the case for Ukitake

For once, please I beg of you, do not use the OG 13 to show how far the new 13 has come along. If they do an arc with the OG 13 use that opportunity as to why the 1st recruited them and end it with the quincy war

they can't be that strong because current kenpachi is stronger than peak unohana who was only 2nd to Yamamoto. Current Kenpachi would prolly lose to Shunsui, Ichigo, Gerard, Mayuri, Lille, Pernida, Askin, Urahara. Remember it was the modern gotei 13 that pushed the elite four to the "furthest they've ever been." while they were also at their most experienced.

They definitely were. Based on the one shot chapter, the captains will have new and enhanced powers. Look at how enlarged ukitake’s shikai became. Also notice how strong the former espada no. 8 became when he became a resident of hell

I wouldn't say Katori is weak just because she uses her shikai, many zanpakuto users that has a shikai not of a sword prefer to use it because it takes different training that not always can be transferred to a sword like we see with Ikkaku

IMO Danjiro Obana or Furuoki Otogawa may be the ancestors of Shunsui Kyōraku. Specially Danjiro have similar easy going lazy face expression and similar hairstyle.

You're saying they're captains of squads but the actual court guard squads did not exist back then. Gotei 13 was just that, 13 badasses, only referred to as "captains" in the present because of their relative roles and strength. Jushiro and Shunsui were the first captains of the Court Guards quoted by Yama himself, the first Gotei didn't have squads. Chika was not the leader of squad 2. Also there was literally a flashback that explains Yoruichi becoming the captain of squad 2 while being the shihoin clan head and being the one who turned it into the stealth force, so there's more evidence to support Yoruichi being the first squad 2 captain, though if other shihoins were to be captains of any squad it would be fair enough to assume it'd be squad 2. But nothing about the original gotei 13 supports the idea that they even had numbered squads back then.

You know, sending Shinji alone to fight the Old Gotei 13 would only leave Yamamoto in the end. This is where Shinji loses. Send Zaraki alone, and we'll see why Unohana gets moist when fighting him. Send Kyoraku, and he'll send Aizen and Ichigo in his behest to fight. He can do that because he's Kyoraku. Also, Old Gotei 13 loses that fight. Illusion from Aizen and destined death through shikai Ichigo.

What we really need is Bleach: cfyow next part where squad zero tries to capture ichigo for sk and they(s 0) revive 1st gotei 13 for help and we get a bigas* battle between ichigos side and squad zero. Offcourse there will be whole lot more to story than just this. What do u guys think?
