The song, "Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika" was really a top hit, and Hajji was already a big name but Freddie Aguilar's song "Anak" was good and meaningful.

I remember na sinali ito sa Seoul Music Festival sa South Korea. Grand Prize din ang inuwi nito. Si Mr. Hajji Alejandro ang kumanta pa rin at suot nya yung Barong Tagalog at may Salakot sa likod nya. Nakaka-proud.

Sana meron mag-organize ng concert ng lahat ng winners. It was a golden era of OPM. For somebody like me who lived through that era it is very nostalgic to hear these songs again.

Hajji Alejandro would later be sent to interpret this song at the 1978 Seoul Song Festival where it also won the grand prize and Hajji would heap praises for wearing a stylized barong tagalog with matching golden salakot for that all Filipino look.

Anak did not won but it comes to a big hit also all over the world, maraming nakarelate ,emotional and so meaningful. Both of them are legend in music industry until now.👏👏👏

I really wish na magkaroon ulit ng ganitong music festivals to give way sa mga aspiring composers and musicians. At para hindi puro jejemon songs natutunan ng bagong generation. Intelligent music tickles and inspires the minds. Nakakadagdag talino, naniniwala ako diyan.

Anak should have won this but Freddie was a newbie and without connection. His song Anak made a history not just in the Philippines but in the whole world.

Without looking at google, I can say na 1978 ito dahil grade 1 ako nung binalak ko kantahin ito sa harap ng klase noon ( and somehow hindi natuloy...buti nalang ). 😅😅😅

I hope they will upload all the Metropops. It is the Golden Age of Pilipino Music. Imee Marcos pioneered and chaired this festival. Every year, this festival was the biggest event in the Philippines from 1977 to 1984. Araneta Coloseum was packed (50-60,000) every year. And almost everybody was watching on TV.

The 1st Metro Pop was never equaled as far as multiple quality songs which all became commercial hits and the Hajji Seoul entry which got the Grand Prize. Anak was born.

Blooper. The grand winner wasn't announced yet but the orchestra already played its intro thus breaking the element of surprise. They went ahead of the words of the emcees. 5:01

Among the 4 winners, Pagdating Mo was never a big hit and the rest became classic and popular!
