love how that magic sceptor next to the flag materializes and dematerializes. Neat trick !

@KaOssis No, the ghost-like appearance is because this was a rarely-used video standard using only 10 frames per second, combined with a Vidicon tube. The result was "burn in" where still objects remain in the CRT phosphors while moving objects "like astronauts" are not "transparent." It's a common issue of the video technology of that day. There is no "film" involved here. This was live video!

That is awesome! Thanks for posting it. Now just imagine how bright and clear the moon would look if we would just go there now, with iTechnology...lol

Was it local moon tv station cameras that took the first video images.Where are the footprints leading back from camera position?

it's also stiff because the flag pole is an upside down L. there's a pole across the top to hold it up. Nothing complicated.

Bullshite LunarTuner, this scene from Apollo 11 was two scenes filmed with Kodack Ektachrome, a well known trick of running two filmed scenes through a projector onto a screen used in the movie industry for decades, especially in horror movies. One scene was a model of Apollo 11, the 2nd scene was the astronauts running about a studio. Your refering to the news video that recorded from the projection screen. I watched the news record this scene from a porjector screne LIVE, where was you???

No air = no float = no clouds? I think the point he's making is shouldnt the dirt fly alot further than it is. When launched by being kicked, should it not travel quite a distance?

Not one thing that appears on the surface of the Moon had to be placed by Man. Be it mirrors to reflect lasers from here on Earth to calculate distances or seismology equipment. All could have been placed there by robotic machines. It wouldn't necessarily need a human to place them there. Or sent during earlier probe missions...

Because the moon has gravity like the earth does?

the soviets had alot of "first's" in their space program, but the achievements by the Soviets are not as impressive as some would imply. that a number of these 'firsts' were mere stunts that did not advance the technology significantly, or at all (e.g. the first woman in space) Most of the firsts by the Russians were done by the US within a year afterward (sometimes within weeks). In 1965 the US started to achieve many firsts which were important steps in a mission to the Moon.

@KaOssis, you watched the "news" record this when you were 8? Why were you with "the news" when you were 8? That's a fun "theory" but you have not one shred of tangible evidence showing this Kodak Ektachrome process you refer to. On the other hand, I can show you photos of the camera used by Apollo 11, how and where it was stowed, how it was deployed, how the image was sent to earth and I can give testimony from those involved. Can you do anything of the kind?

i think its intersting to see humans not droids operate in space. our metabolism is very complicated so if we ever want to colonize other planets we should start get used to space as much as possible :>

they did not land on the moon, since their is no gravity on the moon they wouldnt leave foot marks... and there is no wind on the moon so why is the flag moving?

Uh dude, if it has mass, it has a gravitational force. Even your shoe, of course it's very small. Learn some physics.

"I think the point he's making is shouldnt the dirt fly alot further than it is. When launched by being kicked, should it not travel quite a distance?" Well should it or shouldnt it? He shouldnt have to guess, because without friction or air resistance, thats a black-letter physics equation any yutz could calculate. So its simple, what IS that physics equation, and if this screwball really did do the calculation on how far the dust should have gone, MAY I SEE these calculations?
