From this and other videos on the i1500, Seems like still good value with a few mods: Caulk around stator hub as the gasket can fail and allow water in. Drill a weep hole in the base of the unil to allow water to drain rather than back up into the bearing, and replace the slip ring with heavy duty model.

Thanks for the tips! I always drill a weep hole in outdoor equipment. You can't stop moisture getting in, so give it a way out! Works well even here in dank old Ireland!

They have slip rings with 6 wires, put them in pairs to get double amps, that's what I use for my KT5

Sliprings on the ista breeze generators are very comon issue, especially on the windsafe type. Wind generators are a must on a 100% off the grid installation like mine, but lots of maintenance... Good Luck!

I think some people bypass the slip rings... Then you have to manually un-twist the cable now and again. I wonder if a long rope on the outside of the pole with an elastic (bungee) tensioner at the bottom could be used to untwist on a clam day!?

Got a question that doesn't really pertain to the video, but what are your thoughts on the i2000 windsafe model from istabreeze? After finding out that Tesup is 💩, I looked more into istabreeze and it's the one that caught my eye.

I haven't gotten to play with the windsafe feature much so I can't comment on it a lot...but the i2000 is in every other way just a slightly beefier version of my own i1500. I've liked my i1500 so much that if it blew up today, no matter why it blew up, I would buy another one...and I'd feel just as confident in an i2000.

Looking at the power curves that ista publish, I've decided to go with the i1500. It gets into its power band at lower wind speeds, so it will end up providing more power in normal conditions.

This turbine could blow up right now and I'd happily buy another one :). I have had several people comment lately on how I've been having a few problems with it and it's not commonly known that I don't have it set up for reliable production. There's no brakes, no furl, and no real control on her and I let it scream in all the wind. It's seen 60+ multiple times and I go out to watch where it peaks. I've seen over 3000w a couple times with the thing. The only real failures it's had are the terminal strip that connects the generator to the slip ring, and then the slip ring...but considering how I treat the thing I'm really surprised those are the only items I've burned up lol

I have seen your setup change over your previous videos. Can you explain why u have changed parts in your system in more detail such as changing rectifiers and relays. And the different Amp/ watt meters you are using and why?

The new meters I'm using because they log total production over time, the previous meters would log my peaks but reset at 1kw/h. Most of my changes have been to accommodate either more turbines or the new meters. I'm working on a new arrangement so there will be a new video going over the setup soon :)

and have you tried using the potted block controllers included with the smaller turbines rather than direct wiring to your rig?

Question? Do I use a rectifier first then go to an MPPT? I'm assuming the MPPT only accepts 12 volts?

You would go to a rectifier and then the charge controller. Be careful, though, because if you're using a solar charge controller there's a very good chance you can overpower the controller...or it simply won't be fast enough to track the turbine and will let it free wheel.

Use the controller that came with your unit. The only MPPT controllers made for turbines are programmed for the purpose and can handle the HUGE voltage spikes, such as the expensive Outback controllers.

My Tesup 3000w had a 15amp M slip slip ring that completely melted I have replaced it with the M slip 30amp and have a spare on the way I didn’t know what voltage to go off to work out how many amps I would need but I know it’s more than 15amp They don’t look any different apart from the 30amp has thicker wires My old wind generator was up for over 12years and had carbon brushes and it never had any problems apart from blowing up controllers

I've been pretty abusive to this thing...no brakes and VERY high winds...and it certainly wasn't up for that. I think if I had used the thing normally the slip ring would have fared a bit better. I feel it did really well for how I was treating the turbine.
