Very thougt provoking. Reminds me of an Edward Abbey quote, " The real travesty of modern warfare, is that young men die fighting eachother... Instead of their real enemies at home in the capitals ".

Mega's not being a snowflake. He's speaking the truth. Any soldier I've known who's gotten discharged and saw the world for what it really was, *on the grand scheme of it all,* they see how everyone they ever knew in the military were just brainwashed, fooled, just as they were.

My uncle was also a sniper in afghanistan and while he was in a vehicle, they got ambushed and their vehicle exploded. His friend died and everyone on that vehicle died except for him. Just found your channel. I'm a daughter of a Vietnam Vet. I grew up with my fathers rampant unchecked PTSD and trauma associated with his time in combat, it never stopped him from being a good dad, but the emotional impact of him not seeking an outlet or proper treatment definitely paved the way for me to learn awful ways to cope with my own traumas. You are doing yourself and your family a great service by telling your stories and not staying silent. Thank you for sharing your experiences, thank you for making it back, and thank you for sticking around to help others.

Rob, about 15 years ago, I had the honor to sit with a WW2 vet who served as an officer under Gen Patton. He told me a couple of stories from his time during WW2. At the time he said he had just started talking about the things he’d seen and done. It took him around 60 years before he could talk about it. Don’t hold these things in. Get them out in the open, and talk about them. Whatever it takes to keep you sane. God Bless!

Hey Lunkers, I'm not going to be like half the comments saying "thank you for your service" and that's it. Actions speak louder than words, so I think you'll appreciate this: Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted to stand side-by-side with heroes like you. But now as an adult, I realize that there is so much more I can do than fight. I will not waste the freedom you and your brothers in green have given me. I'm going to go to medical school to become a psychiatrist, and with that I'll be working to help veterans and their families get through the toughest parts of their lives. You would've given your life for me, so I'll give the next 13 years of mine to you. Thank you for all you've done, sir. It's my turn to serve you.

I was a driver in Al Asad. One day, anticipating the arrival of some Iraqi police, I saw black smoke by the water tower at Al Asad and Uranium Rd. Then felt the shock wave. Immediately, 2 vehicles come screaming down the road. We call it in, and take off. We cross the bridge and pull off the road and pop flares. They stop. Like a in circus, about 25 Iraqi police get out of the two cars that are full of holes, no windows. They're screaming and bleeding. One guy looks like he is missing half his neck. They all start dropping to the ground. One is removing someone's limbs from the trunk. You can see the blood pouring out of the cars. We're yelling for a medivac on the radio. All I could do was watch them all die right there in the street. The guy with the hole in his neck wasn't moving, and neither was they guy holding him. All were transported back in base to medical. There were other incidents, but that was the most graphic scene I've seen in person. I'll never forget the adrenaline of driving head on with potential VBIEDs. My thoughts were "don't F up, keep everyone alive."

exactly.... its Amazing how Americans justify the murder of thousands of people in a country they cant even point out on a map.... and they talk as if been invaded.... we've literally killed 100 times more Taliban then they've killed our SOLDIERS!!! And we've killed 10,000 times more innocent people then they've killed us...... we are not even remotely being threatened..... this is just national cowardice right here..... its all for private corperate interests and you fools think you're fighting to protect our freedoms. You're fighting for the direct opposite. You fighting to projtect the wallet of a billionaire so they can buy more politicians and rig public policy in their favor. You're not a patriot. You're a gang banger for the larger businesses in the world.

I didn’t thumbs down it but I found this video kinda painful to watch he kept having to go back and forth back and forth there was 3 guys wearing blue and white on hill 4 no wait I mean there was 4 guys in black and white on hill 1 with AK’s wait no I mean with PKMs they were running up wait no they were crawling on their knees and hands. I believe everything he’s saying and would have loved to hear the story if he had the presentation a little more refined. There was a video recently on demo ranch where Matt’s brother died and there was dislikes on the video if you go to the comments there’s people saying “who’s so heartless they could dislike a video like this” and many people responded saying “I gave it a thumbs down because it was sad and I couldn’t like a video about someone passing” my point is sometimes there’s legit reasons someone might dislike a video maybe they didn’t like the editing maybe they don’t like the person maybe they used bad language etc etc idk. I respect this man I respect him telling his story I just found it too scattered and like I said I didn’t dislike the video with a thumbs down I did almost stop watching though

Im not knocking his, yours,or anyone else's service by saying this so don't think that. Look at this coungry today. 99% of the individuals have no earthly idea what rights actually are. 50% wants to tell you how to raise your kids, then dont want to pay for your kids. They want government to steal from them to pay for your kids. 48% are talk and will never do anything here that acrually promotes freedom in any manner. 1% actually risk and sacrifice. Then, there is the 1% who sent him overseas. Who line their pockets through the ignorance of the many. This country wouldn't be the way it is today,if all of these guys used their traing here to first train others. Second lead freedom.

He protected the financial success of a handful of wealthy corporations, many of which are multinational anyways. So he may not fully understand that, so I wont hate him. I mean, its not good on him.... its a bummer for him. And its a shame for the government. At the end of the day, we are still private thinking citizens and have a responsibility to think critically and make decisions based off of truth and sound information. This is why being blindly nationalistic is dangourous. You as an American have the RESPONSIBLITY to hold the government accountable.... not the other way around.

I killed someone using my bare hands, the corner of a wall, my knee and then my boot. The guy was trying to kill me, stamping and kicking me, shouting in Arabic and for a few seconds I just thought, this is it, I'm going to get stamped on until it ends, you almost cave in, it just seems easier at a point. Then I thought of my daughter's dad(me) dying like this, thought of her and I went Grade-A mental. I grabbed his leg and pulled him over, got up and grabbed his collar then ground his head into a shutter door and when that didn't satisfy me I switched his forehead to the corner of a brick wall, ground it up and down then kicked it into the brickwork. Blood everywhere, it was all over me and over the ground and he had stopped screaming by the time I'd done with him. I think about it a lot. I'm not sorry I did it but it leaves a mark on you. Just wanted to confess here, sorry.

@@mattzbinden8796 Thanks, I wish no one had to do it. It's not heroic or manly and it doesn't prove anything other than life can, for a few seconds, be utter shit. I go cold when some idiot says they could "kill someone" in casual conversation. But what can you say.

eh, i can see both sides of the story. not saying he's a fraud but its kind of odd that he's retired from the military so young, and talks about his combat experience like a 12 year old talking about call of duty, then spends hours upon hours watching videos of other people fighting and getting blown up like he just cant get enough of it, when most combat vets refuse to talk about the fights they were in because they don't want to relive the horror.

@Ray Villarreal it's perfectly true. Some are wired for it. Others aren't. Only way to find out is by doing it. After which it fucks you up, or it doesn't. Goes either way man.

*Thanks for your Sacrifice and contribution. i know it still affects you probably in ways none of us will ever understand. i'm a peace time veteran my time began in 1996 and there simply was Nothing going on at that time Kosovo had just happened and there was some shit brewing in Panama but that was it. So i have no real frame of reference for what war is and i can't imagine how scared you had to be the whole time you were there knowing you basically had a country after you. Thanks for persevering and staying in the fights as long as you needed. i'm sure everyone you served with over there are equally as thankful you had what it took to get the job done* !

Thanks for what you have done for us! I’m glad that you still have a good attitude about life I feel bad about the people who came back so damaged. My son was in the army in Iraq and rode in the back of a hum V holding onto a 50 his battle buddy was killed and he is still struggling with alcohol and drugs to help deal with what he saw . Sad that the war may never be over for some. He pretends that everything is ok but it isn’t all I can do is be there for him and not push him to hard. So many people don’t realize freedom is not free ! Thanks again for the great content!
