When you think about going out for fish & chips, you might think of taking your car for the journey - but not if you're John Flynn. While attending this years edition of 'Roads to Rail' on the Swanage Railway, John decided he would take his treasured Burrell traction engine for a fish & chips run, travelling through Corfe Castle.
John, and his son Edward, are both volunteers with the Swanage Railway. John had been saving for years to purchase a traction engine, eventually securing Burrell 7NHP Single Crank Compound traction engine - 3164 "Dauntless" in November 2019. After a period of restoration, "Dauntless" has become a regular sight at many local steam rallies. Having brought the engine to this years 'Roads to Rail', held over the weekend of June 28th-30th, John would take Dauntless on the 6 mile journey from Norden to Swanage for fish & chips, via Corfe Castle.
"Dauntless" is first seen rounding the curve at The Greyhound Inn, hammering up the hill with Corfe Castle standing large above the village. Latterly, "Dauntless" is seen working along the A351, passing Mead Road.

With thanks to Edward, for providing the information about the move, and delaying proceedings to allow the second sequence of film to be captured.
