That hurt and i fully understand the pain of loosing a trophy fish. Been saltwater fishing for 2 years now avidly and i love watching your videos chasing tuna w/ lures i would love to have the opportunity to do what y'all do. still going through a hell fight like that w the fish of your dreams just to loose it, the way you all handled it, speaks to the volume of your professionalism and maturity as fisherman, youtubers, and men. Y'all will get another one just keep grinding and making this content as often as possible cause i'll watch em all!

From the reel seat break I would recommend like how it was three of you guys, I would recommend any two of you guys put on gloves put the rod sticks in the boat holder one keep the reel in hand take off some tension,an the other one fight the fish with the line itself an drop it in the boat, but you did your best, I believe that way would work for you , because I done that already

Dillion, All I can say is Brother that is the breaks. But, look at the experience you gained for catching one of the monster tunas of the deep. Shake it off, learn from it, and apply your new knowledge to the next opportunity when a hook up happens. Now fish on my friend, you still have a lot to teach me.

Hey hey shark boys:: Looks like a really big tuna. Lots of stress on reel neck, and the base holder. Testing the gear to the max. We can hear the creeking of the equipment..with line whirl when you reel. Wow--another day We’re sad also!! Blessings GPJ

omg my eyes got watery and it's not from the legal THC I'm enjoying. that was absolutely devastating. I do not fish at all....is there any way someone can prepare ahead of time for a major equipment failure as that, strong zip ties? awesome rollercoaster of a video. thank you

So the reel broke- so we couldn’t fix it unfortunately- a better move would have been to tie off to another reel. Live and learn but most importantly- just happy you enjoyed the video!

Just curious, how much fuel did you burn? We leave out of pass Christian or Long Beach and go to the lumps.

We do 2.8-2.9 mpg on days like this 104 gallon tank. On this trip we ended up going to horn mountain. Staying all night there and then home. Not sure what we burned total off the top of my head

What braid was used and what do you guys caused the failure ?

Tight line 50lb braid. The reel break issue was the reel seat being mounted on the blank backwards then harnessing. The harness strap was pulling on the threads causing the top of the reel to come loose putting major torque on the back reel foot. That’s what broke. The line break was the fg knot. The reel had 20lbs of drag scaled after the fight and was being heavily palmed so just way more pressure than we normally would have put on a fish. But the circumstances we felt don’t give him an inch cause we don’t know how long we can do this fight with a broken reel

I had problems with saltiga new out of the box. Diawa said they would cover international return postage and then billed me for the freight. Never touched diawa since. Left a real bad taste in my mouth. International customer service sucks.

well last time y'all caught a big yft about that size it was a Makaira 20k. Why change it up and use all daiwa shit that lost your fish of a lifetime. Better go back to Okuma. I only use Makaira spinning and conventional reels. They will never let you down.
