Renowned author and biologist Michael Denton gives a new expression to what he calls the “medieval synthesis” of knowledge about life, now enjoying a “Reconquista” thanks to modern science. In charming and lyrical yet rigorous fashion, Denton reviews the intelligent design evidence detailed in his books, including the most recent, The Miracle of the Cell. Join him as he explores the myriad of ways nature is fit not just for life, but for human life. Denton is author of the new book "The Miracle of the Cell" (2020) as well as many other books such as "Nature's Destiny," "Fire-Maker," "The Wonder of Water," and "Evolution: Still a Theory in Crisis." You will never think of nature in the same way after you watch this presentation!
Dr. Denton's new book The Miracle of the Cell [www.discovery.org/store/produ...] provides compelling evidence that long before life emerged on our planet, the design of the carbon-based cell was foreshadowed in the order of nature, in the exquisite fitness of the laws of nature for this foundational unit of all life on Earth. Nowhere is this fitness more apparent than in the properties of the key atomic constituents of the cell. Each of the atoms of life - including carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen, as well as several metal elements - features a suite of unique properties fine-tuned to serve highly specific, indispensable roles in the cell. Moreover, some of these properties are specifically fit for essential roles in the cells of advanced aerobic organisms like ourselves. Author Michael Denton is a Senior Fellow with Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture. He holds an MD from Bristol University and a PhD in biochemistry from King’s College in London. His previous books include Evolution: A Theory in Crisis and Nature’s Destiny: How the Laws of Biology Reveal Purpose in the Universe. He has published his work in Nature, Nature Genetics, BioSystems, Human Genetics, and Biology and Philosophy.

Thank you, Michael, for gushing over the wondrous miracle of the creation. And for giving due credit to the Creator and Lord of the Universe. It never ceases to amaze me how when God accomplished the organization of the heavens and the earth on our planet, he said ultra-modestly that it was "good". His perfect humility will yet save us from ourselves and from the pride of the devil.

I noticed that Denton put figurative quote marks around the word “nature“ as he was talking. This indicates he recognises there is another better NAME for that ‘intelligent agent’ and ‘designer’. That designer has told us his Name, which has a very relevant meaning, and also told us his purpose for the Earth… expanding a tiny original sample paradise garden into a global restored paradise.
@thegreatbehoover788
@thegreatbehoover788 2 жыл бұрын
The word nature is ALWAYS personified by naturalists to represent an INTELLIGENT being capable of CONVENIENTLY "SELECTING" the "right" choice at each imortant crossroad for creating better life. The REALITY is that the word "nature" is simply a word that is used to describe that which man didn't cause...it is NOT A CAUSE in and of itself...nor does it have any physical abilities to change anything. A description is not a physical THING. Nature is a descriptor. It is yet another word hijacked by people selling a false narrative.
@warrenrae32
@warrenrae32 11 ай бұрын
@@thegreatbehoover788the fact is though that there are too many ‘right choices’ involved for mere coincidence to be behind it. So rather than forcing a false narrative by hijacking the usage of the word nature, intellectual honesty surely should allow us to acknowledge that there are too many just right coincidences for it to be just coincidence but rather intelligent design produced by an intelligent cause. Seeing as there is evidence of such intelligent design everywhere we look in the cosmos it points logically to an intelligent Cause responsible for and therefore outside of the Cosmos.

Yes, Dr Denton. God bless you and everyone associated with the organization for working tirelessly to re-establish the original premise that "In the beginning" the Universal Law Giver, the Judeo-Christian God, established our cosmos by design, through the application and rule of law- for the supreme benefit of mankind.

This lecture as well as the new book (The Miracle of the Cell - Denton) helps validate Rom 1:20, “Romans 1:20 (ASV): For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse.” My hat is off to the Discovery Institute as they continue to develop and promulgate Intelligent Design and how it points to a very intelligent creator of our world to host our existence. It’s sad that evolutionists don’t see it. After hearing and reading Denton et al, I marvel at how they can’t/wont grasp what is plainly in front of them. As a trained scientist, engineer, and theologian, I’m realizing we have in front of us the best show in town.

“Man is the center of the world … The central place in the world which God has created belongs to man.” “The universe was not just designed for being like us but it was also designed for our species on this planet.” “The cosmos as revealed by modern science conveys the irresistible impression of having been designed by an intelligent agent for the benefit of mankind.” “Thus declares Jehovah, who stretches forth the heavens and lays the foundations of the earth and forms the spirit of man within him”. (Zechariah 12:1) “Thus says God Jehovah, / Who created the heavens and stretched them out, / Who spread forth the earth and what springs up from it, / Who gives breath to the people upon it / And spirit to those who walk on it”. (Isaiah 42:5) “For thus says Jehovah, / Who created the heavens- / He is the God / Who formed the earth and made it; / He established it; / He did not create it waste, / But He formed it to be inhabited: / I am Jehovah and there is no one else”. (Isaiah 45:18) “In His creation God made three crucial, equally important items - the heavens, the earth, and the spirit of man. The heavens are for the earth, the earth is for man, and man was created by God with a spirit that he may contact God, receive God, worship God, live God, fulfill God’s purpose for God, and be one with God.” (Zech. 12:1, footnote 2, Holy Bible Recovery Version.)

The original writings used YAHWEH, not Jehovah. God's name is more properly YAH when people spoke of Him because His name was so Holy. Many cults and sects attempt to rewrite history claiming that Jehovah is His real name. Only it isn't. God never corrected mankind by telling anyone that His name is only Jehovah. Just a warning to those that don't realize the underlying problem of false religious beliefs. If anyone tells you that Jehovah is the only nae of God, then they are IGNORANT of His Word.

Now that we KNOW DNA CODE CAN'T SELF-CREATE and SELF-ASSEMBLE into cells...we KNOW a super-intellect PRECEDING all life on earth DID. The wise miss this most important fact. Man (Adam) was first, made (sown) from the physical earth, into a spiritual being. Adam's transgression brought about this physical body with death tagging along. Think the parable of the sower. 1 Corinthians 15:44 *It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.* There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

It goes even further than this. Watch the video on where the elements come from. Stars. Supernovae. The starting mass of the universe. The rate of expansion, formation of superclusters of galaxies. Even on that large scale our Local Group of Galaxies is unique. The Milky Way is the most stable symmetrical galaxy we know. The solar system’s location today in a stable spiral arm is quite different than where it formed, surrounded by lots of supernovae. Without those supernovae the Earth would lack the metals that make technology possible. But life in that high radiation environment is impossible. So the Sun had to be ejected from that and stabilized in its current orbit. Any single one of these is incomprehensibly unlikely. All of them together is transcendent engineering to say the least. The evidence for God is everywhere. I only wish more knew this.

Agree with everything except the last conclusion. The fitness of the universe that creates the fitness of Earth, is the same fitness factory that drives other planets to be fit. We are not special in that way. 40 billion earth like planets in galaxy and over 200 billion galaxies (that we can observe). Even if only 1% have intelligent life, that is a boat load. The basic mechanisms Drive everything toward life, from the cosmos down to the plant life.

I'm big fan of Denton, but I'm disappointed... He fails to explain the fitness of nature; or a law-like evolutionary unfolding of life' mechanism... If Denton rejects creationism according to kinds, or families, and Darwinian evolution, how does he explain common descent of a 5 pound land walking mammal into a 50 ton whale by fitness of nature? What's the mechanism? I'm not going to ask for transitional forms between the 2 life forms, because even layman know they are not there...
