This is the funniest video I have ever seen on Backgammon. It must be a joke, that works really well!! Haha. He didn't just knock you onto the bar mate, he totally blew you away!!! I almost died laughing when he threw the double 6's, "The dice, lady's and gentlemen, are not my friend!". Hahahahaha! You're an eternal optimist! Haha! Well done. Give us more!

0:56 Where did you get this rule of thumb? Its often exactly the opposite. For example, if your opponent gets an advanced anchor, it behooves you to do the same. Ok, sometimes you're right, but it's not really a useful generalization. 2:00 The fact that he hit you instead of moving the back pieces does not mean you should continue with a running game. It means the opposite. Getting hit means you are further behind in the pip count, so running into a losing race does not make sense. And the fact that the opponent's back checkers haven't moved means that you would do well to concentrate on priming them instead of running. 2:30 Again, this isn't a running game; it's a priming/holding game. 5:05 Actually you win this position only 31% of the time. The problem with playing a backgame here is that you have your 2 point made, which is too deep to contain hit checkers - it would be more conducive to a blitzing game. 5:58 11 was a great roll, but you're still a slight underdog. 7:35 Saving a 6 is the wrong idea. It wouldn't be the end of the world if you rolled a 6 next and had to break one of your anchors - it's too optimistic to try to hold on to everything. After your move, breaking the 6 point, how will you ever win once you do get your opponent on the bar? 7:54 They are points, not "primes." A prime is several points in a row. 10:38 Unless you know for a fact that you played every move perfectly, you can't say you lost purely on the luck of the dice. You did play slightly better than your opponent, but both at Beginner level.

3:12 You should have double hit with the 64. I like some the explanations for why you chose a running game early on like him not moving his back checkers. But it seems to me if you've made an ancor on the two point against a four prime and are down in the count then you're not really playing a running game anymore.
@Jez2008UK6 жыл бұрын
C L absolutely. The poor choice of play with that 6 & 4 was the critical error.
@cl98265 жыл бұрын
@@Jez2008UK and who the f says "knock them in the bar"? And his "four prime in the bar" which is just the first four points. I'm glad this video was suggested to me again. Hilarious. I was much too nice before. This guy is completely clueless on all levels. "I am losing is the pip count so that means I should try to run with my back checkers, watch as I completey blunder this 4-2". Lol.

You initially got lucky with the double 1 early on so that you had a 3 prime in his home - the dice do what the dice do, but he played a better overall game and played the percentages better than you did. Sure the double 6 at the end was good for him, but you'd had your share of fortune hitting him earlier in the game

I think you made your mistake right here 1:30 when you came in on the 5 instead of the 1. You set the table for his to continually harass you in his bar. I think I would have felt like from the 13 to the 8 would have made more sense. You can't really characterize the game into one of your categories so quickly, nor decide counter-strategies based on that so early.

This video should be called how not to play a backgame strategy.For any person who whatches this. You dont play a backgame strategy if you dont have enough rocks to build at home and you certainly dont open your six, thats always one of the last things you want to do. What point is there in waiting to catch the other guy if hes gonna come straight out to an open field, and even if you have more rocks waiting the same situation is gonna repeat.if you want to play a backgame you either close it all or all but the one. Trust me its usually always better to risk than to break your beggining pile at the six
