Why the hell do US politicians try and curry favour with actors and celebrities so much? Are US people so dumb that they will vote for someone just because their favourite musician or actor says so? Or is it simply because they donate lots of money - and if so, why do they donate? Does it inflate the clebs' egos? It's just weird. Here in the UK politicians get little currency from cosying up to celebrities. Tony Blair did it quite a bit, but it's generally not a thing.
