The 2017 comic book series Justice League vs Suicide Squad (Joshua Williamson, Howard Porter, Tony S. Daniel & more) followed the titular clash of the two teams. This signaled the Squad's first victory against the JLA and reminded readers of two of Kal-El's biggest weaknesses: Magic and energy drains Despite the powers, gadgets, and weapons available to the Suicide Squad, magic has historically been the key to defeating the Justice League. This is in large part due to it being one of Superman's greatest weaknesses, as well as a power few other Leaguers can resist. For humans like Batman, Green Lantern, and Flash, magic can bend them to the will of villains like Eclipso and Enchantress. While Wonder Woman's access to magic can leave her unaffected, she could still have to contend with a possessed League gunning for her. Fixating on the accumulation of magical beings would give the Squad a power the League rarely possesses or uses, outside of a handful of items or the occasional magic-based hero.-CBR
