Amazon stores you walk out and your card is charged was actually stores being watched in India and carts calculated. Not some high tech weight shifts of shelves and AI facial recognition technology. 😂 No bullshit. That's why they're closing them. Without humans watching the stores to help the system it was useless

It's funny, there's a thread like this on EVERY video Vice has recently uploaded from this series! They're posting old content for views but they really should have put all the episodes up at once in one big playlist, instead of posting them one at a time with these really clickbaity titles. This is (or was...) supposed to be a NEWS channel after all... People think this is news (lots of commentors are earnestly like "omg I never knew this!" but again it's 10 y old info lol)

I am a automotive technician, you know, years ago we were call grease monkeys. But anyway, I knew this a long time ago. Many car thefts are done with hacked security. The car is unlocked and driven away in the same amount of time the owner could use the key fob and drive away. If the car still had key only access it would be harder to steal. Being able to take over the control of the car is scary.

@@sadmermaid Nah. I leave my valuables on the lawn in case someone walks past lol. As far as doors go, hackers are ghosts. They can walk right through. The more you learn about it the more obvious it is there simply aren't techniques one can learn that will bring safety, short of disconnecting your life from the internet entirely. Of course, writing your password on your forehead isn't ideal, but it doesn't really matter anyway, if they want in. It's akin to investing in an expensive lock for your bike. Do that. Just know that if someone wants it, they'll cut the pole on the rack anyway. It's decoration for pretend peace of mind.

@@DjWellDressedMan Did you miss my first comment? Yeah man I just said previously that my kill switch is the left turn signal. The car wont start unless you have the left turn signal on when you attempt to turn on the engine...

The discovery of zero-day vulnerabilities highlights the ongoing battle between cybersecurity and those seeking to exploit it. It's crucial for both software companies and researchers to collaborate transparently to patch these vulnerabilities and protect users' safety. 🔒

I wonder if the guy was lying about living in that gated community. Or maybe he was just renting a place and their security didn't have permission from the actual homeowners to allow just anyone in for the guy.

17:00 yeah, when he said No to selling to a government, and the way he looked, he did. Anyone who sells is through many brokers and LOTS of very heavy handed NDA's. For him to live like that and only making a max of 15k off a bug, he has to do enough work to pull in altleast 25k a month PRE-TAX. or maybe a handful of the 200k bugs bounties a year. So he has had some very heavy zero day's hes sold....

Hmm, looks like controlling "steering" is not what it seems. Probably just a trigger for some parking assist thing rather then steering it? Havn't seen much of the video yet

Back in the early 2000's HRC handled a case under a law firm where as they were fighting for a "patent" that their client was holding & his fight was that HIS "ChipSET" would be installed in every car/truck/motorcycle, every plane/train -n- bus, in ALL vehicles & they won this case. Turns out that this "Chipset" would allow someone w/ a laptop the ability to hack into any vehicle & basically drive or fly that vehicle no matter what the person sitting in the drivers seat did. IT's real & I think this chip is in all vehicles after 1995 or close to that? Now there's Firms who provide police w/ a cars movements based around crimes so it's all real. You thought phones were all that tracked you but it's much more that that. Thanks for the video peace

There's no question that companies should be happy to give bounties to non malicious hackers for found vulnerabilities. There's a big difference between a hacker being on their side and a hacker ready to sell or extort.

2023 ford cars have it right in the contract when you sign it. They monitor everything, including if your breaking the speed limit. And they can give that information to local law enforcement any time they ask for it.

Being able to do stuff like this was featured in the movie "AFTER THE SUNSET" which came out back in 2004 and at the time it was complete fiction. But still it's funny to see that eventually it became a reality, despite it being almost ten years later.

No... It's a cat and mouse game. There are always vulnerabilities present in any given system. Hackers find a zero day and as soon as it's patched the next one will be found. It's a never ending story which is also why you shouldn't run out of date software and OS'. If your phone manufacturer isn't releasing new security updates for your model of phone it's time to upgrade. If Microsoft is dropping support for your Windows version, it's time to upgrade. Like it or not but there is not one single save piece of software out there. It's all just a matter of time until a new exploit has been found.

Way to go way Vice! Putting Tencent on the map as a good company in spirit . The reason they’re doing it is so that they have a good face with the government and are not seen as adversaries. The company is playing the game that the company could be trusted. But we all know where this goes especially for companies that are connected to the CCP.
