My 5lb ferret, Simon, has a lot of variety in his diet. Below are most of the items mentioned in this video. Whatever you feed please DO YOUR RESEARCH. A lot of the higher quality foods are expensive; however, so are the vet bills from issues caused by feeding a poor quality diet.

You are a great example of the fact that even if you can't do a raw diet, you can still provide a healthy alternative diet for your ferret! Love the variety! Hope you both are doing well

He is just lovely! Proper chonky boy, but not unhealthily so. Looks to be properly bred unlike 99% of American ferrets. Ours get regular kibble but they also get offcuts of whatever raw meat or fish we eat and fresh raw quail eggs

Thank you for sharing this and all the links! I didn't know salmon oil goes bad so fast. I got a big bottle, and even though we have 5 ferrets we will never go through it in 3 months.

Great video. Thank you. I’m trying to brush up on ferret care, etc. It’s been years since I’ve been owned by a ferret…LOL!, so I’m just doing my research. Plus, I won’t be purchasing from a pet store, ONLY a breeder, so I need to research some of those as well. Hopefully I’ll be able to attend a ferret show soon. That would be awesome. Take care.

I tried giving a little bit of cooked, plain chicken to Mitsu and she kept looking around for her usual treat, a Marshalls chicken treat. I think it's because Marshall's foods are so strong in scent.

My ferrets eat quail eggs, beef, pork, chicken, turkey and salmon. Marshall’s ferrets are so genetically messed up they can’t even recognise food anymore

I actually tried to get Simon to eat that and he was like no thanks! I think it might have been a texture thing with him?

I used to owned 5 ferrets and I used to feed them mice. The way I got my ferrets to eat mice, was to start with live mice then went to frozen mice . It worked for my ferrets except for one of them. She just would not eat the mice. It took more time for some of the ferrets to get used to it, but for the most part the outcome was good. Ally ferrets came from a pet store btw.

@@TheTrainedFerret yeah exactly. I couldn't stomach it at first either, but it's a mind over matter thing to me. However that is why I didn't stay with feeding them live mice. I was just glad they were able to feed on frozen mice and kept them at that.😊

Our ferret only eats kibble. She won’t even consider anything meat. She loves bananas. Sorta afraid of the food shortages coming and what she would eat to survive. She loves coconut oil and tries to lick my legs off because I use it as a moisturizer. Her fur looks great from it. 🤣

bananas can be harmful to them as their bodies aren’t made to digest them:(!! just am trying to help
