You have the question back to front! The question should be can Celtic afford not to invest in the Chamions League? Celtic Boards current business model is buy low sell high in both the European and Asian market. Whilst promoting Celtic's global appeal to sell merchandise whilst taking a punt on players. If the player dose not work out and Celtic have to write off the newly signed player asset. You will find that Celtic have recruped monies back on the asset through the sales in mercandise in the Asian and European market. As for years Celtic have been cashing there CL chips in early due to the lack of room for growth and frown money into the old style CL would not have brung in a return in regards to financal gains.....It's been a dead rubber. Now with the new Champions League set up with earning between 60/80 million one would think the Celtic Board will now see the value of trying to get to the later stages of the Champions League with the new jackpot fund that's on offer. Which will bring in more money than the current model of buy low sell high, in the globle trafficing of footballer assets. Now for clubs who could not compete with the cash rich leagues of other nations, they now have a better chance of competing limiting the risk of not being able to survie the up grade of buying players and paying increasted wages for the rest of the season. Then to try and maintain being in the CL Celtic will need to invest in the current team to limit there chances of not losing the domestic league. Or risk losing getting into the Champions League and losing out in the finacial rewards that come with winning the domestic league in regards to the Champions League jackpot. It's a no brainer as the Champions League new style will bring in more financies than there current model. It's good news for the whole SPFL teams with the other European Leagues that our clubs in the SPFL will play within if they reach the top 5 league position within the SPFL. It's exciting times for the SPFL as now we will see better players being signed by all clubs as they all try to grab those European spots up for grabs. The SPFL now has a better football package to TV broadcasters and advertisers due to clubs fighing for those European spots before and after the split. All clubs will gain more revenue due to European football and the finacial gains that come with it. We may not be able at the moment pay English Championship wages? But give it a few years and our clubs will have more fanances due to thge new European league set up. But what the SPFL and offer that the English Championship can't is those European football leagues. That's a carrot they have for players who rate themselves and see the vission that the SPFL can offer there careers. So, now Celtic can not afford to cash in there Champions League chips due to the lack of value the old style Champions league offered Celtic. Now with the new Champions League Celtic can not afford to cash those chips early as the Champions League now offers value for money for our club.

I'm neither a fan of Celtic or Rangers. But it is clear to see in Peter's tone that he is engaed in a vendetta with Celtic. His tone is abrasive, aggressive and, unfortunately arrogant. Lee is one of the best pundits on here but, he didn't give credit to Celtic for some of their better performances. Real Madrid at home.
