Messi is light-years ahead of everyone else. He's one of the best goalscorer in history, a consistent team killing dribbler and a genius playmaker and he does it all with simple football. It looks so easy to the eye but try doing it. Then you'll know how insanely difficult it is. I can't even do it on PlayStation and I am not gonna injure myself trying it on a field with competitive guys who wouldn't think twice about my safety. And he's one of the few players of the modern era that plays honest football. No dives, no dirty unsportsmanlike stuff and just genuinely a nice guy on and off the pitch. He has never kissed his own ass or put down others. It's rare no matter what line of life it is to have someone of his stature to behave like him. And when you have legends of game like Pirlo, Maldini, Raúl, R9, Dinho, Zlatan, Mourinho, Zidane, Beckham, Benzema, Lampard, Cafu, Gerrard, Graeme Souness, Rijkaard, Cech, Zambrotta, Gullit, Buffon, Cantona, Zanetti, Alan Shearer, Nesta, Cruyff, Modric, Marcelo, Ramos, Laudrup and many many others say he's the best, what else do you need? He was a footballing sensation when he was 4 years old in Rosario. Born to be The God of Football and to me, he is that since 2012. For most, he became that in December 2022. We will never ever see another player like him. He is a once in all existence phenomena. I'm so glad I was there to watch it all from day 1. Gracias por todo Leo. I love you.

I share the view that Messi was the best player in the world. However, I generally find it critical to compare players. In my opinion, both deserve respect. They have shaped my youth and made the game immensely more attractive. Now is the time to look forward and support the emerging young talents.

@@fussballcoacheswhile that’s true, it sets a bad precedent for young players to think that only goals matters more than overall game sense and ability. I think in general we have so many robotic players that it’s not as interesting as the messi zidane r9 ronaldinho era. Not that it can’t be but for every cristiano their is an mbappe haaland gerard muller or puskas, for every Messi type there is well, no one. I just think we should celebrate artists more than players who will always come and go

@@Jokerxeno1 I totally agree with you. Messi is like magic when he plays. When I was younger, I'd argue for ages about Messi vs. Ronaldo. But for me, Messi was always the best. I still think that way, but I'd rather avoid those heated arguments now. I really respect how hard Ronaldo works, though. I think young players can learn from both of them. Thanks for sharing - it's really interesting!

Since Messi won the world cup of Qatar, he was able to earn everyone's respect including his opponents, however the happiest person from all of this is Pep Guardiola, who raised him as a kid to play at Barcelona.

Most of these intervews were done way before he won the world cup. Players who played with him and against him have been telling how amazing this guy is from years ago.... just fans from other players wont recognize it and that's ok, because that is what passion is about, to love something or someone no matter what. But when people who is talking is not fan of Messi or Ronaldo or Barcelona or Real Madrid....so then is when you have the Real answer and the answer 90% of these times is Messi.

i wonder if he was actually referring to "the football god" or to messi. in germany we have the "Fußballgott" ( god of football, like a special entity responsible for football and has his hands over everything that happens in football). still im not sure what mourinho meant. i know that he admires messi, but to give him that accolade of being a god, im not so sure.
