CHECK OUT THIS 2008 FORD EXPLORER SPORT TRAC ON CARS & BIDS!
crsnbds.com/sp...
This is a 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin and it's an Explorer with a pickup truck bed. Combining an SUV with a pickup truck was a fad in the early 2000s and the Sport Trac was the best version available. We are thrilled to be offering this Sport Trac for sale on CARS & BIDS!! Today I'm reviewing this Ford Explorer Sport Trac and I'll show you all the many quirks and features. I'll also get behind the wheel and review the driving experience.

So his repeat explanations of certain features are for new viewers who ended up getting grabbed by the algorithm and randomly found themselves watching a Doug DeMuro video for the first time today or 30 years from now or anywhere in between or beyond.

Dad had a silver '03 back in the day! Took us all over the eastern seaboard of US/Canada. 3 kids and a puppy in the back and hauling a pop-up camper. Numerous Scout camp trips as well. Then after the taurus wagon was sold (had the 24v dohc engine!), it became our family hauler. First time driving was that truck. I don't really miss it, I have the door code burned into my memory still (why this isn't a ubiquitous feature is beyond me) but I'm grateful for what it was, when we had it. You missed the biggest quirk in the bed. Two pieces of 2x4 fits in the groves that gives you the ability to slide 4x8 sheetrock or plywood going OVER the wheel well. Doug finally reviewed a car I own! I daily a 2010 Sport Trac Adrenalin V8 and it's great! One quirk I was surprised you didn't mention: The Adrenalin trim level had AWD as an option, but it actually uses the same automatic 4x4 transfer case as the normal Explorer, just missing the buttons to control it. I'm surprised Doug didn't mention that the center gauge cluster screen turns red when the vehicle detects something that needs your attention, in addition to making a loud 'BEEP'. That EVEN happens when you run low on fuel, OR open the doors while the truck is running. I remember my aunt's old '06 Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition doing that (as well as an '06 Explorer XLT rental my parents had back in the day) and thinking it was cool how, even though it wasn't a "Color Display", it could STILL change colors from green to red. I have one of the last Adrenalins 2010 in Torch Red, which think all Adrenalins should be. Mine has a couple extra options that add to the enjoyment of owning it. Since these are so rare, I get attention everywhere we go, it is a stand out classic. I just turned 57,000 miles, never seen snow or salt, adult driven, no smoke and pristine inside and out. To bad I can't attach a picture, it is a real eye catcher. Also, when I found mine back in 2014, I couldn't understand why so many Sport Tracs had high mileage, let me tell you these Sport Tracs are solid/quiet/fun/extremely comfortable to drive. For the specs of my Adrenalin, it has all wheel drive, independent 4 wheel suspension with power disc brakes all around. The finishing touch is the Magna Flow exhaust. That's my story and I'm holding to it. :)

My family had a 2003 Sport-Trac that we inherited after my grandmother had passed. We put some serious mileage on that rig and did quite a lot of towing. Even did a road trip to Colorado with all 5 of us crammed in! It was a very memorable truck for us. My brother eventually inherited it, but sold it when the transmission began to go out. The first gen Sport Trac (starting '01) was if anything a harbinger of the housification. Real trucks have single cabs so they can have longer beds; this move towards longer cabs (overtaking single cabs in popularity in the F150 generation starting 2004) is the most important part of them becoming image vehicles.

If someone made this exact thing today it'd be my go to vehicle. Toss on a little 3 inch lift and that's perfect for me. V8, compact, bed when I need it, with the extender it can fit a dirt bike and a week's worth of camping gear, my dog, and my wife. What's not to love? Throw in a rear diff-lock for those very occasional tricky spots on the trail and I'm happy.

My brother in law had a 1st-gen sport trac for the longest time. He got rid of it for a Jeep Compass about 5-6 years ago, because they had deals too good to pass up back then. Recently, he traded it in on a Ranger 4-door, because, as he put it, it's just his beloved sport trac with a different name.

My wife loved her white 2009, it was the third sport trac she had. A matching cap made it the perfect retriever hauler for her. Finally pried it out her hands when the Bronco Sport Badlands was introduced. Her only complaints, no back up camera, the headlights were weak and the nav screen was tiny. It was a very reliable car and the auto AWD worked very well. Sold the STA in April 2022 for precisely 50% of what we paid for it in July 2009.

@volvo09 Ай бұрын
On long road trips as a kid we'd play "games" on the highway looking at other vehicles gauge clusters trying to spot all the different colors... Green was easy, but amber (like an 80's Nissan) was usually the last to be seen.
@jeffb.6642
@jeffb.6642 Ай бұрын
@@volvo09 Yeah it's a nostalgia thing for me, always loved driving at night in different cars as a kid, basking in the glow of the interior lighting. Ford was big on green lit controls and gauges for a while, and I remember Pontiac cars in the 90s were a bright orange. Then my dad had a 2005 Buick Allure (LaCrosse in the US I think) that had green backlighting on the gauges with white needles, I always thought that looked pretty sharp and unusual. When gauge clusters started being manufactured to have permanent backlighting that's when they all started looking the same. White text on black background with either white or red needles. BORING. At least Ford had the "ice blue" needles for a while which looked nice.

Only thing I have to add is that there was a 12V outlet, a power point socket and 3 storage bins in the bed. It also had a very nice factory bedliner. You could also go into the cluster with the button he showed and choose 4WD high, 4WD Low, 2WD, etc. There was no stand alone drive mode button and most people had no idea you could change to full time 4WD Hi/Lo.

I remember being afraid of it after that as I know I was driving carefully.
