The "Forgotten" Arkham Movie - Batman: Assault on Arkham

Taking place 2 years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Assault on Arkham is currently the only movie to be tied in with the Arkham saga. Although, strangely, doesn't even follow Batman himself. Join me as I break down this wacky, wild movie, and what it might mean for the upcoming Kill the Justice League game.
If you haven't already, go watch the movie for yourself. It's on HBO Max, Amazon Prime, and I'm sure a bunch of other places. It's a delightful watch that this review does not do justice. Do note, though, this film is not for everybody. It's quite violent, sexual, and absolutely NOT FOR KIDS! I swear if KZfaq marks this for kids after dealing with copyright crap for a week straight, I'm gonna lose it.

I really like one of the first clips of Penguin just throwing back whole fish cause it implies he’s eating the bones and I think that’s great

Amanda Waller being heavier is from the comics. Origins changed her to her New 52 look, but she is traditionally on the heavier side.

People say that this movie is not canon… but I say that this movie is canon while Kill the Arkhamverse is not for a VERY GOOD REASON

It’s funny how Joker does Horrible Crimes against Humanity all the time but him Saying “Bitches” just doesn’t sit right with me.

People constantly forget that this movie is Cannon to the Arkham Games, said by the heads of Rocksteady and the Director of the movie when it came out, to be a bridge between origins and asylum. The only thing that isn’t cannon is the comics and the new SSKLTJ game because it fucks around with too much contradictions and plot holes it makes no tangible sense.

Fun fact: KGBeast was the guy who shot Nightwing in the head in the comics. I find Batman’s response to the situation just perfect too, he treks though 2 clicks of snow and ice, fights KGBeast, breaks his neck with the grappling gun and when KGBeast offers the name of who hired him in exchange for help from Batman, Batman responds, “I got a bullet in my arm, and a body of hurt. There’s a two click walk ahead of me through nothing but snow and ice. I’m the world’s greatest detective. I’ll find who hired you and I will break them too. You can get your own damn help.”

This isn't an Arkham Movie. There's no 2-hour montage of Batman collecting all of the 240 or so Riddler Trophies.

Ever since the release of SSKtJL. I go back to Batman Soloing the Suicide Squad in this movie.

pretty sure Waller being large is pretty standard in the comics. At least, that's what I understood.

I could never forget Killer Frost's ass shots in the movie.

The question should be why did DC make Waller skinny? Jon Ostrander wanted her to be a short, old, fat, black woman. These traits are usually reserved for comic relief characters so he intentionally chose these descriptions to make her stand out.

I watched Assault on Arkham before AND after playing through the entire Arkham franchise, and only after cruising the wiki did I learn this movie was supposed to be Arkhamverse 😭

My opinion of this movie: It’s definitely underrated and I think it’s pretty great but there’s some real hot garbage here that contradicts established Arkham Lore.

Interestingly, I've seen this movie three times now, including just last night, and I never interpreted Harley's whole "the whole reason I broke in was to get you out" line with the Joker as truthful. The scene where she goes with him and gives that story definitely seems to me like she's bluffing. And if the story were true, her whole plan doesn't make much sense. How would she know she'd be sent on this mission in the first place? And why would she get with Deadshot if she was still committed to Joker? The whole bouncing bullet thing I saw as an honest mistake on her part.
