The Cage Feeder is a very under-used tactic for catching carp and F1's, especially if the Method feeder is allowed. But is the Method more effective? Jon Arthur puts them both to the test while bagging up on the Engine Pool at Earlswood lakes.
Matrix Fishing TV is home to a huge collection of match and coarse fishing videos. With clips and films ranging from, The Matrix Submerged with Rob Hughes, The Matrix Mission where we challenge our top consultants and the Matrix Mini Masterclass with Jamie Hughes, Mark Pollard, Jon Arthur, Jamie Harrison and the rest of the Matrix team. Great video 👍........personally think match anglers nowadays over think things!!......bait ect......I've been in fishing since I was six years old........had great success in the 80s match fishing.....and against county anglers......I gave up due to personal reasons in 89......I fished a match 2yrs later and won......I then give up for 13yrs.....only to try my luck again nd won again!!.......what I'm saying is that old ways are still the best personally to me......watercraft a must!.....keep it simple....accurate casting......feed accordingly to conditions......👍🙂

Wouldn't using a snap link swivel to attach a method feeder leave a fish tethered if you either crack off on the cast or have to pull for a break ? Wouldn't it be safer just to use a loop in your mainline ?

We worked out that the cage with dead maggot hookbait was ever so slightly quicker, due to the hookbait staying in the band. It was very close though.

I mostly fish rivers and much prefer the cage especially when setting a scent trail downstream...but I fish in America where many rivers hold a big head of carp.I do agree that both have their uses and being proficient at both is an advantage.

Is the F1 a hybrid ? Where do they come from ? Are they all stocked ?
@blankfish
@blankfish 2 жыл бұрын
An F1 in biological hybrid terms means the first offspring of two distinct different parents, this is why F1s are called what they are as they are the offspring of proper Carp and Crucian carp. they are infertile and have to be stocked. If they could breed the offspring would be called F2 carp
@jamesweber4938
@jamesweber4938 2 жыл бұрын
@@blankfish Thanks for the explanation. What is their attraction ? Are they more hardy than a carp or a crucian ? I left the U.K in 81 and there were no F1's then as far as I remember. When did they appear and become popular ?

Why do you back flip on the cast? is it because you are clipped
@ifishmatrix
@ifishmatrix 2 жыл бұрын
It softens the feeder landing when the line hits the clip and also allows a couple of turns of line on the reel for when the fish are hooked.

I'm a bailiff on a lake and those elasticated feeders are carp killers..simple as they should be totally banned
@southghost149
@southghost149 Жыл бұрын
Please Elaborate. I thought the elasticated stems of method feeders allow a softer compression of the hook in the fishes mouth as it potentially thrashes around before netting it. Surely that’s a good thing?
@ProperRural

@southghost149 but if the line snaps the fish will be dragging around the feeder
