probably none. The majority of people who lived in the past have no descendants today. Think about families you have heard of: Abraham and Mary Lincoln, four children, nobody alive today (the last descendant died in 1985) . Ma & Pa Ingalls of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books, had five children, nobody alive today.(last descendant died in 1968). It fell to me to sort through a whole lot of my late mother in law's paraphernalia and there were boxes and boxes of photographs which had been passed down to her as other family members died. I had to decide what to do with them but it turned out to be easy: if they had no descendants, I threw the photos out. If you visit antique stores you will find lots of picture frames and albums full of photos, of people who have no descendants. We are all descended from a remarkably small number of ancestors.

All of this molded her into the formidable ruler she eventually became. And why she never married, as well. This whole situation was underscored by the established Catholic faith being challenged by Protestantism, which lent a feeling of uncertainty throughout her life. William & Mary were married in 1520. Catherine was born in 1522-1524 it’s fairly agreed upon that Henry began his affair with Mary around 1525. Henry was born in March of 1526. By May of 1527 Henry VIII is pursuing Anne. William died in June 1528. It’s possible that Catherine Carey was daughter of Henry. she was born before the affair is documented to have begun. But, not everything was documented. If she was born closer to 1524 & the affair started a before 1525, sure. But, as is the case with her brother, Mary would have been sleeping with William too. Having sex outside the marriage doesn’t mean it’s not your spouse’s kid. The timing is better for Henry Carey but I doubt he was Henry’s. It would be a decade before Edward’s birth. Fitzroy would have been 7 when Henry Carey was born. I honestly believe that if he believed Carey was his son, he’d have acknowledged him & groomed him for all the titles & power coming his way. There was no reason not to. Especially after William’s death (when Henry became Anne’s ward). It would have benefited the Boleyn family. Mary didn’t have some pure reputation to protect (predating Henry & William), and Henry wanted a son. I think he’d have claim him if he thought he was the father. There’s nothing unusual about nobility naming their children after the monarch in hopes of gaining favor & under Henry VIII they often did. He was as generous as he was brutal, & he showered his favorites with money & titles. Not just those who he was suspected of sleeping with or fathering. Pretty much anyone he liked benefited financially & socially. I don’t think either Carey children belonged to Henry but they benefited from his relationships to the family. There’s even less evidence that Ethelreda Malte was Henry’s daughter.

There is much evidence to support that she was indeed his daughter. From another descendant of Mary Boleyn and Henry Tudor. And, I believe that Catherine Carey was a full on Bible believing Christian, and most likely received that from her mother. And so, I would say that I am grateful to have her as a progenitor. From Henry, I am not so sure.

I sincerely believe that when Henry VIII had a horse riding accident where he fell on his head and was knocked unconscious for several hours-- well, after that accident Henry’s temperament was drastically different. I think that accident changed Henry. Not for the better.

Then when his son Edward became king, the new king declared them illegitimate again. he was persuaded to designate Lady Jane Grey as his heir instead of his older half-sisters Their status as illegitimate lasted until Edward VI died, and then Mary I took over and declared herself to be the legitimate heir, and because she was the monarch, she could do that.
