The Marshal of Trail City western TV series episode pilot starring Wild Bill Elliott and Dub Taylor. This is the pilot episode for the suggested TV series titled The Marshall of Trail City from 1950. But this show was never launched and never broadcast for public viewing until now. This is episode 31 of The Forsaken Westerns, an original TV series produced by Westerns On The Web Productions. In this episode Wild Bill Elliott is a rancher. The town needs a Marshal and they want Bill to take the job, but Bill is reluctant to do so because he has friends that ride the outlaw trail. It is interesting that the title is Marshall with two Ls instead of Marshal, but both spellings were used in the old west. This is the only known existing episode of this series. The Forsaken Westerns series contains episodes of TV shows that were never broadcast or have not been broadcast in as many as 65 years. Almost lost forever, these rare television film treasures are now being released and uploaded for viewing from the www.westernsont... collection. Watch full length western movies and TV shows full episodes on the Westerns On The Web channel and make sure to subscribe. The Forsaken Westerns is hosted by Bob Terry.

Dub Taylor's voice is absolutely unmistakable! Even if you don't know his name you know you've seen and heard this guy somewhere before! Wild Bill Elliot came before my time or awareness. But after watching this forgotten western and doing a little Wikipedia reading on him he will forever be ingrained in my mind😊.

Thanks for posting. I'm a huge fan of Elliott and recently have watched a great many Turner Classic movies in which his distinctive face and features flit by quickly but memorably. I think the earliest was about 1930.

Dub Taylor, great character actor, mostly westerns. But also had a great role in Bonnie & Clyde. His son, Buck Taylor is also a great western actor. Played Newly on Gunsmoke for a few years and was in movies like Tombstone, Gettsyburg, The Sacketts.

Dub Taylor was an incredible actor. So natural in all his roles. He could play mean or nice or funny. But sometimes his funny was not written well and it wasn't good. I can see why thy didn't pick up the show but I think they had room to grow into a better show. That is for the upload. It's so much better than just about any post 1970 show. 🙏

Typical 50s TV western for kids, and I ought to know: I was one of those kids. In those days, millions of Americans could recall these old western days. This character named Cannonball brings back memories: that is what they called me in the 60s.

Wild Bill Elliott, really held up his own during the "Cowboy Renaissance" period. He was competing with, "Rocky" Lane, Bob Steele, "Tim" McCoy, "Ken" Maynard, "Hopalong" Cassidy, Randolph Scott, Ward Bond, (My personal favorites), Tex Ritter, "Buster" Crabbe, John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Alan Ladd and a host of others for screen time. For a pilot to kick off a series, this was kind of mundane, considering it was in the later 7 years or so of his career, I was surprised he didn't get better writers and producers. I can see why this series never took off.

The guy playing Red is actor Bill Kennedy. Around 1956 Bill eventually moved to Grosse Pointe MI and had a tv program on CKLW in Windsor, Canada. He showed movies and would talk before, during and after offering information on who was in the movie that day. Some of the movies had him as a bit player. He was kind of a ham but on the likable side. Sometimes he would have guest actors and actresses who he would interview.

Anyone that's never ridden a cutting horse can't know the difference. When riding a cutting horse, you best sit tight in the saddle and be prepared quick changes in direction, or you'll be eating dirt. They are strong fast and beautiful horses, but not be your choice for a casual ride. A good quarter horse trained has a lot of spirt and needs a rider with a lot of spirit.

you know watching your kerosene lamps in your intro, always bugs me, the reason the glass smokes up, is because your wick needs trimming, its burning unevenly which creates smoke. another reason is, if the wicks up to high. when i was a kid, we used them regularly, so i know what i'm talking about
