One of the best scenes in any Disney film. Even in the darkest moments, Todd was still Copper's friend. And he convinced Amos to forgive Todd and move on. Just a great scene.

This scene is so damn beautiful. After all the stuff they just went through, and the nature of their relationship and yet they are still the best of friends. Makes me cry every damn time and I'm a 23 year old. I miss old Disney.

One morning, after Tod's escape from the greyhounds, the Master sends Copper on the hunt. After he picks up the fox's trail, Copper relentlessly pursues him throughout the day and into the next morning. Tod finally drops dead of exhaustion, and Copper collapses on top of him, close to death himself. The Master nurses Copper back to health, and both enjoy their new popularity, but after a few months the excitement over Copper's accomplishment dies down. The Master is left alone again, and returns to drinking. He is once again asked to consider living in a nursing home, and this time he agrees. Crying, he takes his shotgun from the wall, leads Copper outside, and pets him gently before ordering him to lie down. He covers the dog's eyes as Copper licks his hand trustingly. -From the Novel

The one thing I appreciate the most out of this film is the use of silence during the standoff between Copper and his owner. A lot of the Disney movies during those times would fill in every scene with music (Which wasn't bad) and we didn't get a silent emphasis on some moments. The silence puts in more weight to everything, especially Copper's pleading whine and his owner's tired sigh, then the music picks up again appropriately.

+TheChildofAuraReborn I agree with you. I also like how after Copper saves Todd's life, there is a moment when Copper starts to walk away and Todd looks so heartbroken..then Copper stops for a moment and looks back at him and they smile at each other...its like they are saying "its OK...we are still friends" even though the friendship has changed in a sense. They aren't children anymore...but their friendship remains.

Love the music when Amos Slade starts walking away. It's a really sad piece. Why couldn't they ever hang out again afterwards? Copper's master let his friend go, surely he wouldn't be so quick to shoot him next time. But I guess there's always a risk. Loved the ending shot of Todd checking in on Copper with his lady every once in a while.

As a kid, it did make me cry, but as an adult, this movie makes me cry even more. I think as an adult, you grasp just how deep Tod and Copper's friendship was. While both had their trials and tribulations, when it was all said and done, Copper would do anything to protect his friend, even literally take a bullet as this scene implied.
@MrDibara9 жыл бұрын
+DetectiveTective Guess we get more emotional with much more themes and stuff that we learn as we grow up that we start giving credit to these really emotional moments. When we're are kids, our view of things is so simplistic that we only see the basic concept of bad things happen but it all ends well in the end. Maybe we don't pay attention to all the recurrent themes that usually come with these stories, specially because, most of the time, we're not even aware of these them. So in a sense, we care less when we're kids. We still care, but not as much as when we're adults

I don't get why some people say that after the movie's over, Tod and Copper can't be friends anymore just because their lives are different. I have friends that I haven't seen or spoken to since middle and high school... but we're still friends. We just have humongous backyards now, and distance doesn't mean anything.
