THE FRONTLINE | KDF continues to combat Al shabaab in Somalia

In October 2011, Kenya Defence Forces moved into Somalia to pursue Al-Shabaab insurgents after a series of kidnappings along the Kenya-Somalia border in what was called operation Linda Nchi. In February 2012 Kenya agreed to re-hat its forces under the African Union Mission in Somalia AMISOM after capturing the port city of Kismayu. Our troops have been there for 10 years now on a rotational basis in a mission to stabilise Somalia and degrade the enemy. It has, however, not been without challenges both in Somalia and back home. Hassan Mugambi visited the frontline of Somalia and this is what he returned with.
