It really is unfortunate that Bamco thought that neutering the queues and punishing all players was the way to go. I'm hoping that with season 3 they rectify these issues, but it might be too late by that point, which is a sad thought. Either way, great video! Really informative and well composed. Thanks for making this. You've largely summed up my problems with the game. I could deal with the gacha, I could deal with sweatlords when I'm solo-queuing, but I can't play with my friends anymore. All my friends quit because they can't play with 'their' raider anymore - namely, me - and that was the draw of playing the game for them. I'm having less fun, too; not only do I have to queue several Survivor rounds just to play as a Raider once, but I also have to play sweaty and can't goof off even slightly, or I risk getting curbed. Survivor rounds can be fun, but also nervewracking; my Raider rounds used to be good for unwinding after the stress of being Survivor so many times in a row, but not anymore. It's gotten worse and worse as this game's community gets more and more top-heavy, causing newbies to bounce off because they get matched with people in the 100s of levels who just shred them without pause, and the escalating power creep arms race between Raider and Survivor also punishes newbies, as they haven't had the time or resources to get meta skills and transpheres from the gacha yet, and are thus underpowered and vulnerable even if they've got the personal gameplay skills to survive. I want to like Breakers, I really do, but the mismanagement Bamco demonstrates in running it is galling and saddening to me.

I miss playing with my friends, while they’re raider. Ik they prolly took that out so there wouldn’t be any abuse but it was hella funny running away from my friends and pissing them off/getting their reaction

The one thing the game needs. Is Cross Play saving and dynamic Voice Chat.. With dynamic voice chat. Just image how many people will be begging you that’s holding the final dragon ball to give it to them.. and for realism, the raider can hear you talking if they are really close to where your hiding.

Ok, yes over all Buu is probably the weakest raider, but his last two forms(Super Buu and Kid buu )are two of the most overpowered raiders in the game

Player pop is a huge issue. I actually love season 3 changes and think every balance change has been really healthy and good. The new raider ginyus and test server were great and been balanced well IMO getting a nerf from the test server. I hope the next thing they focus on is crossplay, raider queue or even reverting the old system so we could queue to fight our friends again.

I just bought this game a few days ago, while I am having fun, the matchmaking is insane. There will be games when I am the survivor and half of the people are under level 30 against an experienced Raider. There are also matchups when I as an under level 5 Raider are matched with at least level 100 survivors who are probably in a discord call together. They should add an in game chat so that even strangers can communicate.

If i had a quarter for every game with incredible core design that was destroyed by neglect id have enough to fund one of them

I thought it was weird when I came back to the game a while ago and tried to play with a friend that the only option was the surv only queue when I remember that not being the case before, now I know I wasn't tripping or crazy.

Some major issues that you didn’t mention is the fact that many raider players now simply abuse the game to get a cheap win over survivors. There’s nothing stopping raiders from body camping after downing a survivor which essentially forces players to either get killed helping each other or abandon the teamwork aspect.

They made it a gacha game that costs 20$ to play and doesn't have that much content so i can see why it failed compared to other dragon ball games

They did the exact same thing for Evolve, I went from loving every match and being thrilled whenever I got to fight my friend to being locked out of half of the game if I played with a friend, really killed it for me.

it's really upsetting, I hoped this game would succeed as it would be proof that the Dragon Ball franchise didn't need to restrict itself solely to 3D/2D Fighting games, but Bandai's shitty changes and decisions has basically condemned the game to death.

Forget the flex queue not allowing you to play with friends, the region and console lock doesn't allow me to play the game at all. I'm on xbox and live in Australia, and since my only pool for other players is that specific nieche, it is near impossible to find other players, during the early days of season 2, I was only ever able to play from about 4PM - 8PM, and as soon as one person wanted to get off, no one could play anymore as we'd just be stuck on 7/8 for around half an hour before everyone decided it wasn't worth it. Nowadays I straight up can't find any games anymore, which is awful because I really love this game and have a good 250 hours invested in it, but now having a game I purchased that I can't even play is beyond aggravating, and I don't think I'll even touch season 3 unless they disable the region lock and/or add crossplay, a little lag is not worth having smaller countries straight up unable to play the game, plus I cant even imagine what its like for switch/PC players in these countries too.

6 something months later.... This game has turned into a unbalanced button mashing scrubfest! and have fun getting slaughtered by Lv.100+ survivors!

As someone that bought the game on launch and LITERALLY put 200 hours into it that first season while platinuming the game, I've never touched it more than twice since Season 2 because I can no longer play with my friend in anything other than survivor queue, the majority of the fun for us was eventually being raider and demolishing the other, but I guess we're not the target audience for this game anymore....you know people that wanna have fun...that's not even to mention how badly they nerfed EVERYTHING the survivor's had at their disposal regarding movement to make things competitive while putting out a ridiculously OP raider to fight against in Vegeta. Genuinely was a game I could see myself playing until it shut down....at least that's what I thought after season 1 before seeing how badly they shot themselves in the foot. Probably never touching it again because of the fact me and my buddy can't play together and kill each other as raider without convincing 6 other friends to purchase the game too, and that's just never happening unless this shit becomes FTP down the line, I'd stay optimistic about them changing the queue system but given how many complained initially and their resistance to make any chances that'll unfortunately never happen, ergo I'll never support the game again. It's truly a damn shame such a great game was ruined so fucking quickly after an initially amazing launch.

Oh man going into Season 3 Beta, it’s not looking like it’s going to be better than season 2. The raider queue is still gone, playing with friends on flex queue is still gone. And there’s no way to win against the new raider (ginyu) unless your a pre-made team.

I discovered recent bug, when i dropped off a match after death i was stuck and forced to watch the floor and see the match unfold, i had to close the entire game of to escape that screen.

Honestly feels this entire game feels like it should be a alternate game mode in Xenoverse or Budokai Tenkachi.

They listened to a salty minority of players who got salty if they lost. I got accused of teaming for not noticing players or accidentally downing the same guy. Me and my friends quit long ago after they took out the queue for friends. Hopefully people like that guy are happy being dominated by level 100's

I wish they'd remaster Budokai 3. My friends lost a lot of money doing bet fights split screen. God I miss that game.

I don’t know if it’s just me but ever since season 2 every single game has either ended in every survivor dying or the survivors escaping in the Time Machine, the game has been extremely unbalanced for me and the raider is always favoured

I love how the Level 4 Dragon Charge turns you into a raider counterpart essentially, you don't lost time and you're on even grounds.

I really think Breakers is a good game if you take off the Dragon Ball lenses off, but the decisions they make really scream “easy way out” with the devs The devs have proved that if they want something done, they can do it and very well. The issue is that they always seem to choose the cheapest choice for most decisions and it drives me insane. I really think this game could be remembered as something really good but with their continued player-unfriendly choices it’s pretty hard to see that happening as of now

Going to be honest, I never knew this game existed, but this sounds like a very cool and fun game on paper. I hope the game population recovers and enjoys further fun into the future.

As someone without friends and on switch, the queue changes haven’t done anything to affect me lol (I also only started playing this week so I definitely know what I’m talking about)

I've been talking to my friend that I played this with for the first two seasons before I dropped out and I've stated before that this largely feels like a game that not only needs a crossplay feature and god the new matchmaking system is god awful, but given that it's a niche game that's a spin off of a niche game it feels like this game needs to provide a better custom lobby experience as well so the community can organize more casual games and help new or just more play for fun type players instead of everyone going into the sweat city that is normal matchmaking. I would love to see this game have the lobby system that not only give actual rewards, albeit really toned down ones and with heavy restrictions based on like round times or things done if they're concerned about exploiting, but also allowed for custom rule sets. Something similar to mutations in L4D2 or custom games in Halo where settings and modes can be tweaked to create fun more casual experiences like a mode where everyone can't dragon change and cell is locked into larva stage or a mode where everyone, even the raider starts with maxed out radars, or even just the ability to adjust certain stats for personal balancing like make certain cooldowns shorter or longer, extend health bars or increase barrier break i-frames, reset or force levels for skills for both raider, and survivors etc.

Being here since like week one of this game's launch to where we are now, it's like watching a once healthy ecosystem get hit by an asteroid and then slowly mutate into something that vaguely resembles the Australian outback in terms of toxicity. Like yeah we're still in the death spiral and things will probably never get better, but now we have multicolored apex predators with venom that can melt your skin off and you gotta admit that's pretty funny.

A big issue in season 3 is the new raider of the Ginyu Force, they’re way too broken You can’t kill them until they get to level 4 with Ginyu which forces you to either try and jump him with everyone who’s still alive which isn’t always easy or get all the keys and do the Time Machine which is also not very easy

This game would've made a lot more sense if they used original Dragon Ball villains. Those gimmicks would've made the game stand out more.

I have a glitch with the game where I can't play the game. All I can do is enter the lobby, episodes, as well as practice but only by myself. I can't play online nor join anyone's lobby or play quick matches or anything online😭. How am I supposed to fix this yo😭😭😭😭😭

Usually a problem with this kind of games is that everyone wants to be a Raider because its fun, but no one ewnts to be a survivor because it sucks.

I remember when TFS beat Broly in Attack of the Saiyans with only Yamcha.

I stopped playing the patch that they made all the projectile hitboxes way way too big. It lost me, and I won't come back but I hope they figure it out.

I totally see where you're coming from and agree on a lot of your points. But what I will say is that playing the game as survivor with randos can be hella annoying. Since the game does rely on good team work. But that does make it a good game with friends.

I used to play weekly with friends but since season 2 we haven't played cause of the matchmaking changes. I have given up on the game now that season 3 is released with no changes to it. But it's comforting to know the problem my friends and I have with the game are not unique.

Only a third of the way through this video and already I've been talked out of even trying it. Pity, it was a sound idea.

Kinda glad I did not grab up this game. Not because I do not like Dragonball stuff cause I do but cause these types of games always seem to go downhill easily and quickly. Only reason Fortnite is alive is cause of cameos of characters like DBZ and Naruto and other stuff. Usually I think the teams behind this stuff does not know what they wanna fully do and how to fix it when it comes to people abusing it. Also when the servers die thats it unless you find some people making private servers to still play

One problem with these kind of games is that we’ve seen these stories being told over and over again (kind of like the Spider-Man and Batman and Superman origin stories but with a new gimmick). Xeno verse games were good because it was in a sense it’s own unique game. If people in the US could play heroes they’d play heroes.

I really don't care about Majin Buu and shit. I wish that the raiders were more like Tao Pai Pai, King Piccolo, and Nappa. Why do they always have to force fit super saiyans too? :L

Me and my friend use to play this game so much when it came out that we had to set a schedule for us to limit how much time we spent playing. We never really ran into teamers and if they would have had a real report system. They could have kept the season 1 style of playing with friends. Since the change they made, we never played the game ever again. It’s really sad but it’s more of a statement for us. If they revert the change, you best believe we would all queue up again.

Personally that flex queue crap needs to go, they really should have it setup as survivor or killer man. You have to wait like 5 to 7 matches just to get raider again. Plus it sucks that they axed the old matchmaking too were you can be raider with your survivor friends. That made it wayyyy more fun to me.

I kind feel like 1 vs 7 (or however many) games are ultimately doomed to the fate of, "well, someone's *gonna* be working alongside the 1 player side...." hell, even with randoms I assume it's still a problem.

What killed it for me is the balancing

The concept of this game is amazing but theirs 2 things that completely ruin it though. The first is the toxic community that completely ruin the experience for other players. The second problem is the game is not noob friendly which means if you haven’t played the game since day 1 you’re gonna get absolutely destroyed by other players.

I've been curious about this game since it came out wondering what it it was about.

The fact is, they cant do a raider specific queue because nobody in there right mind is wanting to play survivor over raider. Db Breakers is a game where you slog through 5-6 matches as survivor just to have fun again with raider. Oh but don't think it's always fun. Sometimes you will go against a team who are actually sweating their balls off in discord and jump you in your second phase. There's matches where people don't load in or just give up. Matches where you are just waiting or feel there's nothing you can do because every character has barrier instant transmission. This wouldn't be that bad if you could play Raider all you wanted but you can't because even bandai knows survivors trash. That's why they hide their most bull skills in the gacha system to try and dangle a carrot to players. This game is dying because of greed and the fact they haven't even touched the main issues this game even has. I was hoping theyd do SOMETHING about players just doing barrier and instant transmission at level 3 to give you literally nothing for your work but nope! Literally nothing about this issue that is more prevalent than you'd think since I still play with the same people every match since there aren't enough players giving enough variety to the skill use.

You forgot the downside of playing is that you need ps plus if your on PlayStation

Ironically like a few months before this game was announced, I had a dream where I was playing a VR Dragon Ball game with a group of people where we were regular humans trying to run away and survive against Cell and it was very dark, gritty, and horror themed. It was so funny that not too long after that, a Dragon Ball game where you can play as normal humans trying to survive against Cell was announced!

Demon King Piccolo, Goku Black, and 16/17/18 would all be fun Raiders in this game. I think there’s probably an interesting switch up with a “Baby Mode,” where the Raider chooses a Survivor skin and instead of destroying the other players, has to “infect” them all…

Kai and Super were my first experience of DB and I was blind to anime up until Middle school in 2016-17 and i don’t regret staying up that one night to watch toonami

All they need to do is bring back multiplayer raider matches.

Its a shame we are in season 4 and ALL the feedback has just been ignored every update. there is a reason for this, it became a gacha game, once they saw just how much money 1 person is willing to spend, they stopped caring about the others, this is how every gacha game goes, 99% of the playerbase is pissed and wont stay, while 1% spends 40,000 dollars out of addiction. money is the only goal for these types of games, why would they listen to the playerbase when they can just keep adding new gacha stuff for a quick paycheck.
