The train crash looks real because they actually ran a locomotive and some freightcars off the track. The locomotive was about to be scrapped, and is missing the diesel engine-block and the generator, but is otherwise complete.

The red headed Doctor is Julianne Moore. She was supposed to have a much bigger role in the movie. Originally, the script was to have Kimble shack up with her and her help him. There was going to be a romance between the two. Someone came to their senses and realized that Harrison Ford's character had literally just lost his wife and it wouldn't make sense for him to so quickly hook up with another woman and so the script was changed

I wonder if that idea originally came from a screenwriter or if it was a result of studio executives' "input." (A writer should know better, but execs are notorious for being clueless about such things.)

yep and at one point there was gonna be a reveal that the one arm man was a hired by Kimball's father in law who is the head doctor promoting the pharmacy product. however instead they changed the doctor to be his friend believing the father accidently haveing one of his daughters killed would confess. I say one of his daughters because in the script kimball's sister in law would be his love interest and she would tell him once she finds out the truth about her father who wanted kimball killed but instead the one arm man in his recklessness killed his daughter instead with Kimball only living because he was luckily called for a unplanned surgery. however they realized that was also to condiluted

This movie was actually inspired by a 1950's era tv series, which ran for at least two years. The series finale was famous as one of the first "event" incidents that captured the attention of the whole country. There the last episode was about the final confrontation with tbe one armed man, Sam Gerard, and Richard Kimble. The series stars were David Janssen as Kimble and Barry Morse as Gerard.

Great reaction!! The wife was indeed just collateral damage. In the flashbacks in the beginning, they showed that Kimble was unexpectedly called into a surgery on the drive home from the party. The killer was expecting Richard to arrive home with his wife, not knowing about that development, and instead just encountered her.

the film was pretty good but the tv series it was based on got into trouble cause in the final show the real killer was caught and the fugitive vindicated which meant it was hard to sell the show in syndication to local tv stations because everybody knew the ending⚛😀

Second biggest money-maker of 1993 (after Jurassic Park). People these days are often oblivious to the fact that this was based on a TV series from the 60s that was very popular and endlessly rerun on TV through the 70s and 80s. A shame that they only made one movie (unless you count US Marshals) because I thought it could have been a great film franchise.

MJoy4Fun, The lady in the car at night who stops to pick up hitch hicking, Richard Kimble. This one scene is a little homage` to the original T.V. show. In the show as Kimble moved around the country sometimes by hitch hicking, occasionally the driver would be a woman or a family, once even a Nun. Sometimes they would be part of hours story and other times the driver was only there to take Kimble to or from his next destination. You now need to watch Harrison Ford in the movie "Witness" or " What lies Beneath." Cheers, Chris Perry.

This is a great movie and very rewatchable. Fact- the script was practically nonexistant so 70% of the dialogue was improvised by Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones and all the rest. Jones got a well deserved Oscar for this role too. It seems so polished and put together but it was supposedly a hot mess from changing directors, changes in plot, changes in ending, no time as deadlines gave them little time etc..etc...Yet it seems so well plotted, acted and scripted. It's truly a great movie and hats off to everyone involved. I think sometimes Ford gets overlooked for the awards because he was just as good as Jones. I really felt empathy for him when he was sitting in the Police station traumatized by his wife's death and then realizes they are blaming him for the crime. He must be a great actor because I really "felt" his grief in that scene. I really love this channel and their reactions to movies because they seem to "get it" like some other reactors do not and miss things but this couple caught everything and that is refreshing.

If you want to see a young, handsome Tommy Lee Jones in a thriller from the 70s, “the Eyes of Laura Mars” is excellent. He plays a NYC detective and Faye Dunaway is a fashion photographer. Harrison Ford is sweet in “Working Girl” an 80s hit rom-com with Melanie Griffith and Sigourney Weaver. A true thriller is “Bonnie and Clyde” faye dunaway and Warren Beatty.

Of course, this movie has a major logical flaw (which I didn't realize until I had seen it a few times). All the "detective work" he was so eager to do when he escaped could have been done much more effectively BEFORE his trial. He was a very wealthy guy, so he could have delayed his trial for a YEAR, easily. He could have hired an army of private investigators to do what he was able to do in a few days -- while being a fugitive, lol. Now they made some reference to this -- they said they had checked out the one-arm guy, and he was out of town, etc. Well, all they would have to do is show his PICTURE to Richard, and he could have said yeah, that's the guy who killed my wife. If it could be solved in a couple of days, with only a fugitive working on it, it could have been solved in a YEAR, with professional investigators.
