I literally bought an X-H1 recently for $500 and after using it for a few days, immediately sold X-T30 & X-T3. The only thing it can't compete with T3/T30 is eye-af.

Nice review but there are a couple things that are incorrect. 1. The screen does tilt horizontally via a button on the left of the screen. 2. The 16-55 is not just 24-70 but actually 24 to like 83mm 👍👍

When Covid broke loose where I live, I saw myself obliged to sell my whole Fuji kit. XT-4 , Xpro2 bunch of lenses, because my job closed and nobody else was employing for a while. Yesterday I finally grabbed one of these (Body only) used. All lenses I have now are Minolta's MDs or MCs from de analogue era, older than myself. But the in body IS is covering up sublimely. and I have a bit of experience with the Fuji system. Fuji X 100, then the 100s that got me to do the jump completely from Canon. The the XT series 1,2,3,4, and Xpro 2, loved all of them, but I do notice with this one that IQ is a blast. currently permanently using a Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 55mm f1.5. And so far am flabbergasted. i would recommend it any time.

Nice review and the Fuji cameras certainly deliver wonderful colour. I bought a Fuji XE2 and the results were great, that is when I could actually see what I was taking as the LCD and the EVF were difficult when there was a strong light behind or to the side. Problem is I wear glasses, the EVF couldn't shut out enough light and the LCD was not bright enough. Also the camera did not feel solid, felt sort of hollow and though I loved the results sometimes, I gave up Fuji and bought into Olympus and now own the EM1 ii and some nice (small) fast lenses. The Fuji is a large camera as are the lenses and I can't imagine carrying the extra weight now, although this looks like a great camera.

Just got one of these a week ago an ex demonstrator with a 1000 shutter count. Over the last fifteen years I have had Kodak and Fuji bridge cameras, Olympus and Pentax DSLRs, Panasonic and Olympus MFT cameras. In terms of image quality, colour accuracy , focusing speed and over all control the X-H1 just blows them all away.

Modern day Fuji sensors especially the xtran III have this weird blue color in day light shooting landscape. I use a xt2 and still have it for 2 years. I love the camera. But when I got a used S5 Pro a month ago and started using it, I just noticed how beautiful the old Fuji colors can be! I really hope Fuji revives the super ccd sensor. Images from the xt2 is nice, but sometimes they have too much blue and they are impossible to get rid of post processing.

Good review. I had many of the qualms you had about previous Fuji bodies and I've gone back to a DSLR system. I have a X100F for lightweight travel/casual pics and I find that camera with my Nikon gear covers all my needs. Now if I were to completely switch systems, I'd serious consider the X-H1 despite what Sony's done with the A7III. Fuji's lenses are far more affordable and arguably better performers across the line than Sony's non-G glass.

Their lenses certainly perform well, but there isn't enough consistency over the XF or other X series, not to mention the incessant chatter that effects EVF and LCD feedback and constantly changing DOF that really ruins it for me.

Great review. I rented the X100 and X-Pro when they originally came out, and had similar negative experiences, which turned me off of Fuji. So I've been on the sidelines during the more recent models, but now I may give Fuji a try again with this X-H1.

I was a chump and bought the X-Pro 1 based on promises of reviewers and Fujifilm. There was so much misinformation out there about it, and sadly no one was honest about it. one thing you forgot, the card slot is NOT in the battery compartment, :))))) at last, no need to take the grip off just to remove a card. they also have a batt grip, with TWO batteries, yes, you can use all three, two in grip, one in camera( fantastic idea, esp. since they use a live view all the time as well as exposure simulation!- uses a lot of juice).

As far as I know, 23mm f1,4 is from second generation of Fuji's lenses, which are naturally better in autofocusing than the first one, but still relative slow and noisy than the third, the last one (16-55/2,8 included), and of course, not weather sealed...

Yes and no. The thing is that there is a quality shift like aps-c to full frame. But if you do not need the DOP, the light, sharpness etc. than it is not important. I just can tell that if you do not need to work professional and fun is more important = shoot with what you want to shoot and do not look at specs. Your joy is more important than the ability to shoot in 4k or so. greetz

From experience, Olympus and Fuji are both excellent choices. Do you prefer the 4:3 aspect ratio (Olympus) or 3:2 (Fuji)? I shoot lots of sports so phase detect autofocus is a huge deal for me. There is currently only 1 MFT camera that has phase detect, the Olympus EM1 ii. There are several Fuji cameras that have phase detect and can track action well. If I could only have one system, it would be Fuji.

Agreed. The X-H1 is their best X camera. But I dislike so many things about it. The joystick should not still be a tiny nipple. The EVF on the X-H1 is great, but it is so unnatural looking when it constantly changes aperture prior to taking, and then stutters after exposure sometimes. It's a big improvement, but Fuji have only to look at a Nikon pro-level dSLR like a D500 to learn about high quality buttons, joysticks, button placement, as well as button travel. Maybe in a few generations Fuji will focus on great haptics.

I had Fuji side by side before I moved completely to Sony with the new A9 and A7r III. According to the manual dials: this is only nice to look at. But it is NOT functional. Try to switch very fast from normal one shot to sports program which you need to do at a wedding. This is clunky and takes way more time.

mediocre camera and lens to me, the result are flat in all sense, keep a Canon FF and you will see what is a good pro stills camera, i always worked with the 1DS Mark II, 16 bit output don´t know why now the most are 14 bits is a lot less color rendition, Prophoto vs adobe RBG see the graphics, as well the scales of grey are a lot more in 16 bits than in 14 bits, 14 bits are 16, 000 tones 12 bits are 4000 grey tones as you get ab idea this numbers matter a lot for edition, anyway 14 bits capture can be edited as a 16 bits in PS, that means the software conver the file, but not sure if it allows pro photo color workflow with all the wide color range of this format at 16 bits, which is a third more definition than Adobe RGB, where are your beautiful reds from Leica here they look orange
