I went through Irma in lake placid at my sister's. We left north port because it was supposed to be worse there well it followed us and hit us directly. Thing is I was too high and drunk to even really remember the storm. Lol

Interesting, those palm trees are pretty resistant to strong winds ... they don't suffer a lot of damage ... many of them looked good after the hurricane!

I mean for people who went through it like me it was quite the opposite. In the same place with the same people for days on end because the hurricane stalled. I remember I heard the same wind and rain for 3 days straight. It was eerie and quite frankly pretty annoying.

Never was in a hurricane but I feel sad bad for the people it desvated and I hear it was quite the storm and We dont get hurricanes here in Milwaukee but I know Id be frightened if I was in a hurricane ! I feel its a storm Id never want to be in and I feel for the people where it hit !

Adrijan Gjorgjiev Irma isn't the most powerful. I haven't checked but I think Patricia and many more are more intense and powerful like Typhoon Tip.

Xhantom_505 Irma was on Atlantic ocean, Patricia was in the pacific. But i follow meteorology, Patricia was with max 345 km/h, Irma was with 360 km/h Irma, Cause too much panic than Patricia, fear, everyone called for a withdrawal, sheltering. Yes and Patricia was amazing storm. But all experts said Irma is the most biggest and strong hurricane what hit American continent in the history. And Irma was hurricane with the most longer time with CAT 5. Sorry for my english. I can to give respect on the nature and we need to save it. Have a nice day ;)

At Irma the wind speed was 295 km/h 1 minute constant and gusts up to 360 km/h. Patricia 345 km/h 1 minute constant and gusts 428 km/h but these impulses are not accurate but exactly 400 km/h. So Patricia is stronger than Irma. But as she crossed the Caribbean as a category 5 and not weakened, it is more sustainable than hurricane Patricia who olabel up to category 4 at landfall. Conclusion Patricia Irma stronger wind speed but are more vulnerable to coming to the land of Irma not vulnerable to the arrival on dry land.

@@macedonianlion2531 No. Recon analysis showed that Irma's central pressure was 920 mbr with 1 minute sustained winds of 295 km/h There is a long list of 20-30 tropical cyclones in the world that are stronger than Irma in terms of both wind speed and central pressure.

The trees are flattened why aren’t the buildings flattened as well. It’s good when building’s get flattened because they get rebuilt with the newer stronger building codes. The old wooden ones and cbs need to go. My building is made out of 10” thick concrete slab. It doesn’t even raver in a storm.
