There is a lot of story in this. I have seen both versions twice at least. Brotherhood to me has better action to story. However the ending of original Full Metal alchemist I think makes more sense in regards to the fight of final guy. I may rewatch them again soon. Good Anime is pretty dry lately.

@@1014p but the message makes more sense in the Brotherhood, which is to sacrifice gnosis for love. The God/Being/One praises Elric for finally understanding it, whereas he punishes Homunculus, who sacrificed love/life for total gnosis - for it is blindness caused by pride. Btw, I am not saying it's ultimate truth, just pointing out that there is a huge amount of simbolism in regards to christianity vs gnosticism in Brotherhood if you look through this lenses. Even the thing about the "civilization in the west" having it's center (capital) in the base of the homunculus, who tried to become God by himself (just wide open reference to satan).

@@1014p I think brotherhood ending makes perfect sense though, i havent watched yet original version but the fact that even the supposed "God" (which is the homunculus) can't win against the "Truth", the law of the universe, The Equivalent exchange, is amazing for me. I don't think the fact that lots of people don't get killed in the ending makes it bad, if it wasn't without sense i Would perfectly agree, but i'm not sure in this case... FMAB is undoubtly the best shonen I've ever seen.

Some of the timestamps are incorrect. I'm suspecting some of the video was altered or something? I could've sworn a few of these were in the video, but now they're seemingly removed. 21:36 is actually Homage to Alchemy. "Crime and Punishment" is seemingly removed. 23:00 is Kei 24:22 is March of the moving Dolls 26:10 is The day the Sun disappeared 27:29 is Elric's Lullaby 42:36 is Laws of Alchemy 44:02 is One is All, All is One I don't know what 45:34 is. 49:25 is Desolation

I know, right? Both series have insanely good music but this is the best of both worlds. Brotherhood does have more action to its music though, while 2003 is just so somber but with a hint of hopefulness in there. I think Brotherhood focuses more on the storyline as a whole whereas 2003 goes very in depth in Edward's mental state and all the stuff he's been through and what he thinks of everything.

@@catherinew.5878 You know I actually never really thought about it like that, but yeah! Since the manga wasn't completed in 2003, they had to forge their own story, so they took a route which focused on a philosophy so different but no less deep than what the creator had in mind. (If anybody's reading this and wants a deep dive into FMA Brotherhood's philosophy, check out Wisecrack!)

@@charlestheiner2833 Heheh, yee, I think I've watched that video. I mean, for what they had, they did a phenomenal job. However, I'm pretty sure they rushed the introduction of the characters in Brotherhood because they assumed everyone had already seen 2003 and were familiar with them.

@@catherinew.5878 That’s what i assumed to. When i first watched the series 4 years ago, i wasn’t aware that they were two separate stories. I thought BrotherHood was a continuation, not the retelling that it was. I was confused but caught on quickly enough to realize haha. I still enjoyed them both

FMAB had some serious levels of creepy but even so it remains as the best, most complete, most overall satisfying anime I have watched. All others usually get a bit too slow in the middle or have way too many pointless side quests or ruin their own characters or fail to stick the landing, or fail to even reach an ending (I am looking at you, hxh) but fmab is one of those stories were you cannot skip a second, thinking you might miss something important, every episode progresses the plot in a meanigful way, every character feels important and so many of them could have carried their own story and it would have been equally interesting. but, most of all, it has one of the most satisfying endings I ve ever witnessed. it just leaves you feeling strangely 'comeplete' like you couldnt have added anything more even if you wanted to. and that ost is just another aspect of that magnificent work. it is just great, from start to finish.

For me FMA Brotherhood is the best anime of all time. Why? Beautiful soundtracks, great character development, great story (not too long and not too short), great animations, great final and so much more that cannot be described with words.

Okay, that was not cool man. I was finishing reading an article that I'm required for my essay. This article is called "NoNameWoman." Just as I was reading the last page, "Homage to Alchemy" came on. It fit unbelievably well with the situation and I nearly cried. The author, despite the fact that she has ever met her, only uncovering the story through her parents, describes the situation of a woman disowned by her family and forced into multiple uncomfortable situations. "Don't tell anyone that you had an aunt," her mother would tell her, "She has never been born." This aunt locked all her discomfort and pain away until it was too much for her to bear. I recommend reading it. I feel like it is important to know. Thanks for reading, if you've made it this far :)

Elric's lullabye....I have goosebumps all over my body. This anime is seriously just indescribable in its depth. The funny thing is, you will not understand until you have watched it again and again till you eventually wake up one day with 25, a coffee in your hand, reading newspapers and just thinking around ...and then saying to your boyfriend: holy cow, fullmetal alchemist is really telling the depth of the human soul, isn't? and he's like looking up from his phone, staring and just saying: fuck, I also just thought about it...

i rewatched fmab last week. I havent seen it since it aired on the tv back in the days and i gotta say i did not remember it being so deep and dark. The story is so good and the characters are so iconic and unique like im legit surprised no one talks about this anime its one of the best ive seen in years ! Glad to have went on a nostalgia trip

Yeah me too. Everything about fmab is just better than other anime to me. The music is really good, the story is really good, the characters are so so good. Only thing that might not be as good is the villain but I think father is still pretty interesting.

@@klunet133 probably because people have heard Russian Choir music before and attach a certain emotion to it; the sound of the language itself becomes musical/emotional shorthand… while German might bring to mind Beethoven

This is so dramatic and warm ost. Only sad that the final song was added without russian lyrics. Honestly, it is the most heartbreaking lyrics that I ever heard. I recommend listen to them even if you don't understand russian.

For me this is one of the best stories out on the market. Characters you can keep track of, a great story, and overall just one of the best executed adaptations I have ever seen.

watched it a few weeks ago with my brother. he's not really into anime (watched as a kid, but stopped then - he's not a hater), but he moved to another town shortly after we watched it. and bc i wanted to spend time with him as long as he was still there, i asked if he would want to watch fmab bc i was thinking of rewatching it. he said ok. i think he loved it. :D will send him this. it's so soothing. such marvelous music to such a genius anime. 10/10 ♥

FMA:B is widely accepted to be one of the best anime(s?) ever. I highly suggest you watch it. It's on Netflix and other platforms

My favorites animes are Shingeki no Kyojin and Fullmetal Brotherhood. I watched both these days and I get surprised with the quality of these animes. They're so good and I recommend they for everyone

both of them are amazing, i'd recommend Fullmetal Alchemist '03 before Fullmetal Alchemist:brotherhood. while brotherhood is better, it's made to assume you've seen '03

@@rverdict9013 There's this rule I've heard when it comes to the FMA adaptations: Watch 03 for the beginning and Brotherhood for the ending. '03 has a really strong beginning, but it falls flat in the end, whereas Brotherhood started weak but ended up finishing its story fantastically.

@@nabielk.608 yeah, they have very similar beginnings but different endings which is why I recommend 03 first and brotherhood next so you don't miss out on the good beginning

FMA and Violet evergarden has to be the top 2 when it comes to Orchestral Composition Soundtracks. I wish more animes do this, since the naturality of the instruments bring fresh elements to the atmosphere, something electronic sounds lack. Don't get me wrong, I still like electronic compositions, but orchestral compositions imo just feels class and brings that "John William" or "Joe Hisaishi" vibe lol

11:20 The Far East Suite~Pizzicato kind of reminds me of the soundtrack from Spirited Away when Sen and Lin were cleaning the big tub. (At least i think that was the soundtrack I'm remembering :P)
