For over 25 seasons, looking back at Ed Hochuli's funniest and most memorable calls

I appreciate that Ed Hochuli actually explained the entire course of events during complex foul plays. He left no room for wondering why everything went down the way it did, and he explained it in terms the average football fan could understand. You love to see it. Hard to believe there's a lawyer out there who can actually make you understand rules instead of make them confuse you even more.
@johnroscoe24067 ай бұрын
I know you think that sounds clever and funny but it's precisely BECAUSE he's a lawyer that he CAN explain things like that to an audience. But hey you got your Like farm.
@bridgethings42256 ай бұрын
@johnroscoe2406 I think you're right that makes him ABLE to but his point is that many lawyers choose to wield their ability to do so not to help explain things clearly to people but as a tool to obfuscate the truth and simply further their own interests, all while feeling superior.
@jeffrowisdabest5 ай бұрын
I heard a former player (I forget who) say it best: He had a 1000 football IQ but spoke in a 100 football IQ.
@EchosTackyTiki5 ай бұрын
@@bridgethings4225 This. I've met plenty of lawyers, and yes, all of them are able to explain things in such a way that they make sense, many of them just don't. That obfuscation is so ingrained in some of them that they can't speak without doing it. And I understand why, it's their livelihood. But sometimes they forget that they're not trying to convince a jury, and more importantly that there's no information here that needs to be hidden or mitigated.

I remember when the Raiders played the Chargers in San Diego on TNF; basically another home game for the Raiders... The Raiders lined up for a punt and then faked it. A Charger defender threw one of the Raiders ends out of the way before he could catch Lechler's pass and no call was made save for incomplete pass and a turnover on downs. The crowd was mad as they wanted PI called. Hochuli turns in his mic and explained that the Raiders were in punt formation. By rule when a team is in punt formation PI cannot be called. The crowd settled down. Proactivity and communication are always valuable tools. He understands this. I wish more people did...
