As a rescuer, there’s a Standard rule for dogs. It’s called the rule of threes. Three days to decompress, three weeks to feel comfortable, three months to know they’re home. As for the pups rolling over and peeing on themselves, it is a fear reaction. Patience and time should resolve that. Once they trust you and know you are good and love them, they should be fine. As for food aggression, make sure they know that you are the hand that feeds them. Take the kibble from the bowl and Have them eat from your hands. If they act aggressive pull the bowl away and make them sit. There is also the “wait” command which is basically like the stay command. Make them wait for the bowl to be set down and use a key word that lets them know it’s ok to eat. Good luck with those cuties. They’re going to be great dogs on your guidance.

I felt so bad for Dixie and Beverly, when they were moved. I just didn't know what to expect. I'm generally someone doesn't handle change well. But now, seeing them so happy, and energetic is so exciting. It's easy to see that it was the best thing for both of them. Their happiness is infectious, I love watching them run together. Pearl will be a good mama, she was raised by a good mama.

Love the new puppies. ( Honestly I love everything about Longhorn Lester's!) When they roll on there back, it is submission. They know you are their daddy now. The peeing is them excited to see you. They'll grow out of that. They have two loyal breeds running through their veins. I've had one one each. They were the best dogs I ever had. Everybody is so happy there. & I love your dancing! Don't ever stop! You make me laugh everyday! I don't think I could live without you guys!

I had a rescue rottweiler she was aggressive and growled with food. I hand feed her and put a few pieces of dog food at a time with my hand in the bowl letting her eat out of my hand in the bowl. Didn't take to long for her to realize no one was stealing her food. It's important to nip that in the butt. I also had kids at home and didn't want any issues with snapping at them. Give it try won't take long.

@@high62609 I used the Apple trackers and they don’t work well unfortunately. There’s good trackers out there that work well up to like 50 miles. They can search hunting dog trackers that’ll pin exact location even if they end up 5-10 miles away but microchipping is always a good idea “if they end up at a shelter” I’d be more worried about someone taking them though.

We have a senior dog hospice. When a dog first comes to use we put them on a leash and they go where we go. During feeding time,if they show food aggression, we hand feed them. They learn that we are the alpha’s and as such we control food. They learn that there is no fighting for food because we allow our packs to eat because we want them to and only when we want them to. This has always worked for our pack which at times has been a total of 10 dogs

Give yourself credit where credit is due. Anyone that has the ability to bring a smile to everyone's face that watches you each and every day has a special gift. Thank you for the kindness that you share sometimes you don't even have a clue of what you are really doing for the fans that watch you. Please check with the vet on feeding, I had a 135 Bearded Collie that ended up with severe hip dysplasia at a very young age due to my 1st vet not educating me on proper lower protein diet for large breed puppies. He was a rescue from a now shut down puppy mill and the 1st dog I even owned. Thank goodness I found the vet I still use and we got him through 13 years dutiful years. Best dog ever. I’m so jealous and in love with your new girls. Lucky for my husband Texas is a little to far from Daytona Beach or I might have to go and rescue one the liter mates. Love and enjoy them.

Little input on the Great Pyrenees and your comment about food aggression. The Great Pyrenees is not necessarily aggressive about their food, they are very defensive over their food. I would suggest feeding separately. My girl had no problem with my hands or my cats in her food bowl but this is the exception not the rule for great pyrenees. Historically speaking, the Pyrenees was left in the fields to guard flocks and the farmer would drop food off sometimes once a week sometimes twice a week if they were lucky. The Pyrenees would often bury its food to hide it from other predators and the flocks they were guarding. The Pyrenees is a low energy dog so they don't always eat as often or as much as people think a dog that size should eat. They will hoard and save their food this is a genetic predisposition that has been part of them for 3,000 years. Yes, the oldest Great Pyrenees remains that have been found were 3,000 years old. Rather than fight the genetics, try to work with them and you will end up with a much better dog. Their genetics are very strongly telling them to do something just like our genetics do for us. Often, people want to work against and animals genetic predisposition and this can cause behavioral issues in the animal, anxiety being the least of those issues. I realize you're dealing with half Great Pyrenees and half Saint Bernard. I'm just giving you the information on the Pyrenees part of your dogs. If they lean towards the predisposition of pyrenees, they will be very stubborn because the Pyrenees believes they know best and often they do. They will also act as if they are deaf when it serves their purpose. They will also have a propensity to wander so I'm glad you have good neighbors

I loved the video. Lex running behind the tree was a hoot! I was told by my daughter (who went to vet school) that when a dog rolls on their backs is a sign that they trust you. That is their most vulnerable position so that’s a good thing. I’m not sure about the peeing. I will have to ask her. Also, I would try giving them each a crate dogs love having their own little safety room. You don’t have to shut it.. maybe try feeding them by their own crate. 🤔 You also can run power out to the goat house but find a good electrician to do it for you. The dogs are sure cute and how awesome to get all that loving! I tell my hubby all the time the reason he got our dog “Loki” was so he could have loving anytime he wants! Lol How awesome it went with Annabelle and Moo!!!! I’m so glad you let Jake do his thing bc it’s been wonderful watching all his steps to help Annabelle and in return help big Moo!! Love it!! Lex running and hiding behind a tree when the longhorns were running up was hilarious. It does make me sad that Lex doesn't seem to have any interest in LHL'S or IMA Survivor Sanctuary. Hopefully as he gets older, that will change. I feel sorry for the goats not wanting to sleep up in the dark barn and want to be out in the light. They must be scared of the dark. I'm a Certified Professional Trainer and Behavior Specialist. Dogs don't do that to show you are the "alpha". That is based in very outdated thinking. They typically do it out of excitement and little bladder control, or fear fear. When a dog shows their belly and it's not acting happy and tail wagging, it's a way to communicate that they are worried.

You need to teach the pups to sit and stay. Not to eat till you say so. Take away food multiple times and give back while eating. Always be in charge, calm energy. Dogs especially feel energy. Dogs are always in the now. You are definitely right when you say humans assign emotions to animals. It's okay to give love or allow them on furniture but it's on your terms, when it's appropriate.

Hi Lester, my daughter is a dog trainer and she said that the pups rolling on their backs and piddling is a sign of both excitement and submission to you. They know you are Daddy and love you already. As for food aggression, be sure to give each pup their own bowls, separate them when feeding. Get them "slow feeder" or "puzzle feeder" bowls. Our 80lb dog has two of them and it's slowed him down significantly. You can also hand feed them each a handful of kibble and to do so, take it straight from their bowls. You should be able to stick your hands in their bowls etc. in case you ever need to take their bowls away while they are eating. Most important, don't ever tease either of these breeds with food. That makes food aggression worse. If you are going to offer them food, then you must let them have/earn it. She didn't know much about St Bernards, but Pyrenese tend to be moreso guarders of their food vs aggressive. It's instinct that goes back to when they were working in fields protecting flocks. They eat when they want to vs when you want them to. In order for that food to still be there when they come back to it, they sometimes bury it. I hope these tips help. Heather🇨🇦

Maybe invest in a couple solar panels and then set up the system to light the pastures at night? Not sure of the cost but, with the TX sun you shouldn’t have a problem generating solar, idk 🤷‍♀️ Just a thought. 😘

You could use solar power for the barn too. There would be an initial investment but then FREE lights.

Hiya Jamie and Lester. There is a food bowl that makes a dog slow down eating and it makes them concentrate. Stand by them and just tell them no when the food aggression comes out. I watch all the Morrow family videos and I am smiling and laughing! Thanks for all those smiles and laughter.

We got a rescuer JRT, she was tiny and was always left out/pushed out of the food dish, go figure one food dish for 3 dogs, yea no. Anyway, she would always gobble her food, likely whole, then scoot to our other JRT’s bowl and try to shove Sassy away. We were patient and supervised dinner, our JRT was more a grazer so we had always left hard food in her dish. After we got Bear we stopped this and just fed them one meal at night, with a bit of soft food as a reward for waiting. After a few weeks when Bear knew her food dish was for HER food, she became quite content once she became confident; and as a reward for her behaviour, even Sassy felt it worth rewarding and would leave a few kibbles in her dish for Bear. ( but Bear never went for Sassy’s dish until Sassy had walked away, I know they communicate in their own way. So I hope this is encouraging for you, and they are just puppies, much like twins ( or any two children) always wants what the other has, lol, even when it’s the same size and colour, go figure. They sure are cute, and you can see how Fiona has more SB in her then Millie, and man she looks like she might give Moo a run for his money, 😆 beautiful companions, beautiful extension to an always have more love to give family. 🥰♥️🙏🇨🇦🥳

Pearl is pretty close the back end is loose too that’s how my Mum taught me to check on how close they are. The puppies are submissive to you which is great because your leader of the pack. At the end of the day you need this to be able to tell them what to do. They will grow braver as they get older so don’t worry too much yet.

They maybe a deep chested dog. Which mean they can bloat after eating. Bloating happen when the tummy turn upside down. I pour the food on the floor of hunter crater. He eats when he wants to during the day. I recommend you read up on this. You may want to check on health insurance for the puppies.

Oh Lester…. They were just showing you submission. One thing for food aggression is to get them both slow feeder bowls. They have sections in them so that they have to slow down to eat. It’s also important to be feeding them a large breed puppy food. It helps with bone growth and prevents hip problems. I love seeing them in the pool…. They will have lots of fun with it!! Everyone is so happy and relaxed at LL…. I love seeing your success!! 💜💜💜

I want you and all of your family to know as my life slips slowly away .and by the way as a Christian I do not fear passing over to b with my savior so don't feel sad for me I still have some time to enjoy my life with my beautiful wife of 45 years. Who by the grace and mercy of God has survived more cancer than you could possibly know. Your vedios lift my spirit day by day.I grew up on a farm so it's easy to relate .we also lived for 45 years in a house that my grandfather built in 1885.and have passed it on to our daughter so thank you Long Horn Lester's is a beautiful addition to your endeavors. I also want you to know that one Sunday over 30 years ago while sitting in church my wife leaned over and told me God was going to heal her so not to worry. Well meny surgeries later and hundreds of hours of chemo and only after the drs.took one of her lungs and every organ she could live with out.the cancer stops. It has never returned. her Oncologist said it will never come back. God kept His promise to her..you see I learned if I kept my eyes on man he would always fail me but by keeping my eyes on God trusting like a child even after hope was all but gone God showed up .sometimes his answer is yes.keep up the good life you touch so meny

Permethrin is great. We use it when hiking. It does break down in sunlight, so when we spray our shoes & packs, etc they have to dry in the shade. I'm not sure how that translates to animals... but just something to consider.

I was always told not to get it on my skin when wet and not to ingest so idk if i would actually spray it ON an animal because they lick to groom and itch themselves. :/ using it around their pen would be just as effective. You can also soak cotton balls and dry them and then leave for any rodents to carry to their nest which reduces the number in the ecosystem.
