The Future of Scientific Publishing [Presentation]

There are 3 key interfaces in science: The paper, the presentation, and the poster. How can we better design those interfaces to accelerate discovery and cure all diseases faster?
In this talk (a re-performance of a talk I gave at a corporate research conference), I'll show you the new technologies and research that could help speed up scientific knowledge by improving the design of science's interfaces.

A lot of the ideas you talk about around 8:30 is already being worked on my computational scientists. I actually wrote my thesis on a tool I created specifically for comparing information from 2 knowledge bases. Computational scientists are just terrible at advertising, lol. For machine readers, the standard "science-centered formatting" is XML/NXML, at least for biology

Cool! Link me to your thesis? Would love to read it! Also, on the XML: The tricky part is 1) getting the paper IN to the XML format. Journals spend $$$$$ on just that step. That's what MyST automates. and also 2) The XML spec we have for papers right now is a little lacking (often limited to just bibliographic stuff, not as useful for analysis). Hoping to see improvement on both fronts in the future, and would really love to hear about any projects you've seen to this end!
