Gaijin have released their War Thunder April Fools events for 2023, and the main one is particularly interesting. Though themed around mech suits, it seems to be testing infantry mechanics. That or unmanned ground vehicles / certain modern weapons such as the Spike ATGM.

The event could also be testing the individual hitboxes of crew members, such as the arms, legs, head, and torso.

Better hitboxes for crew, verticality of maps, small quadcopter drone and Spike ATGM. The rest of the comment wishing to turn every APC/IFV and transport heli into a troop spawner like in Heliborne or even some guy saying that Gaijin plans to merge WT and Enlisted are delusional as duck, wtf is up with those people?🤣

Gaijin is already on thin ice to me because it's a primarily Russian company. But I'm not tolerating MudFish with their idea that in the middle of the biggest imperialist invasion in Europe since WWII, complete with commission of literal warcrimes and essentially genocide, what the world needs is a game that romanticizes the USSR.

@@ДАНЯ_МГЕ Parrying is the least of your concerns. Imagine if you can toss coins, then shoot said coin for BIG damage. And now, imagine tossing a coin, firing a APFSDS shell, then immediately parrying said APFSDS shell into the coin, which then causes it to go right into a T72 with the penetrating power double of your average top tier 120mm APFSDS shell and the explosive payload of a Sturmtiger rocket. It sounds completely ULTRAKILL, but that is because it is ULTRAKILL.

yeah, a squad of infantry that could've dismounted for helping in cap zone or cover you while you're repairing sounds nice.

Infantry kinda exists in the World War event sometimes, usually as manned AT guns or recoilless rifles. WarThunder is sorely lacking a variety of fun PvE events (something games like Armoured Warfare does fairly well). Its a missed oppertunity, Dunno if they're avoiding it to not get a higher age rating (than PEGI 12) but it'd be fun to have to clear out towns or villages, or assault trenches with HE under fire from AT rifles etc.

There is also infantry on air maps. If you land at the airfield on the Japanese test flight map you can see some infantry walking around and you can even shoot and kill them with your guns

If they made it so IfVs and APCs had a 3 man squad you could command and have build small trenches and anti-tank guns like a 6-pounder, that would be cool. Then limit the number of IFVs and APCs on one team to like 4 or something. This would make HE and top mounted MGs actually useful and make urban warfare both more realistic and fun. More teamwork would have to happen to make sure infantry could be used effectively and to protect them from other IFVs and tanks. This would finally add the infantry support part to IFVs.

Single player or co-op combat in a sandbox with vehicles and infantry is my dream. Not everyone wants to grind against godlike opponents online for 4 years.

They could implement infantry like how Star Trek Online uses Fighter pets on carrier type ships. They are deployable and carry a certain amount of ammo and anti tank weapons. They are only usable with certain vehicles and need to be replenished like crew and ammo if lost in battle.

I could see this too. Certain IFVs and APCs could drop off an infantry squad, who would guard the area they were dropped in. They could scout nearby vehicles, engage enemy infantry nearby, and hold down capture zones. Maybe one or two infantrymen in a squad would have some kind of era appropriate anti-tank weapon based on the parent vehicles tier and nation (bazooka, panzerfaust, Boys ATR, PIAT, lunge mine, M72 LAW, RPG-7, MAAWS, Panzerfaust-3, etc etc). Obviously they wouldn't have power armor, and would quickly be killed by coaxial machine guns, artillery, HE shells, and pretty much anything else that sneezed in their direction. The only problem is that there aren't a lot of WW2 era IFVs, vehicles that could both carry infantry and be fun to actually play. With modern vehicles, IFVs would be perfect because they aren't limited to exclusively deploying infantry, but at lower tiers the list of vehicles that could support the feature would be fairly small.

I can only really guess they might be testing for deployable AI infantry for IFV's or something like that but it dosent really make sense for that with how the Exo suits are controlled

yeah, my thoughts exactly, nothing about this event feels like "infantry", exo suits that can jump over buildings and still operate on a very different control scheme to what you would actually want from a 1st or 3rd person shooter element and nothing about them feels particularly like infantry. id guess if they are testing something its either something we cant see or something we dont notice yet because if this is a lead up to infantry, that is going to be the weirdest shooter anyone has ever played.

If War Thunder can implement the helicopter mechanics that Heliborne has done then I can see a huge combined arms update where utility helicopters and transport helicopters have an actual role of transporting equipment and vehicles to objectives in "Enduring Confrontation!"

@@xeno1551 gotta expand that a bit more with a pvp mode with over 60 vehicles from each team working as a cohesive unit! Thats what I want! Transport helicopters transporting stationary anti weapons platforms and soldiers to secure objectives, tanks with armoured vehicles to thrust into enemy positions, planes overhead bombarding key strategic points of interests while anti air doing its best to stop them from achieving their goals! And a useful mechanic for mobile artillery for them to provide battery and counter battery fire before an attack happens! All player controlled! (Except for the infantry of course. Heliborne has done excellent with infantry transportation making them bots) Which also can provide lightly armoured fighting vehicles such as the Feret scout cars and make them useful! If they can implement a good amount of mechanics from other games War Thunder will truly be a masterclass of military simulations which would prolly exceed games such as Arma! This will also allow Recon aircraft to be implemented for surveying movement and such!

I think this is definitely it, considering enlisted as well. They have dead IPs like Crossout and that space combat game so they might as well assign those developers to a new project like mech combat

What I would want out of Infantry, if it was ever added, is for them to be a purely ai controlled thing. Basically have an IFV fulfill its actual role of carrying infantry to capture points and having them defend it then the IFV fucks off and does whatever. Maybe even add a tech tree line for some nations of APCs and similar, that the IFVs already in game could fold into, and the modification tree would let you upgrade the infantry squad it carries.

Capping a point would let the infantry use the AT guns on it, maybe one big one and some smaller calibers ones, you can destroy the big one (or repair it if you capped) and the infantry will man them and do their thing. Nothing too insane but would slow the enemy down and stop them from doing drive by decaps Atleast that's my take. Maybe AA guns as well.

I think AI infantry would be an interesting concept, as filler and MG fodder but I think the concept I want to see first would be Co-Op on vehicles, like being the gunner of a bomber or operating some aspects of a tank, would make spectators stick around bc I end up doing callouts for my friends if I die first

I agree with the idea that it's for unmanned ground vehicles or possibly AI soldiers to fill up map space. I'm just not sure how the latter would balance well (especially since the coding involved would probably be shotty at best) and the former would make a lot of sense.

i mean gaijin cant get tanks in the hangar to drive around without pathfinding issues, i honestly dont expect ai infantry to be able to move 15 cm before hitting some object and bricking themselves

Having AI infantry would actually be helpful at low tiers. Think about how OP low tier AA is against most tanks under 3.0. If the AA vehicles are not able to move around as safely through town it might make running and gunning with them more difficult due to random rifle fire.

I believe they are experimenting if they could make the maps more vertical. I mean the maps in game are mostly flat and it could be hard to create distinct maps, while the easier alternative is to include more verticality in the design.

While I do agree, it'd probably be quite hard to add verticality to a map that should be tailoured for tanks. I mean, Sun City is probably as vertical as you can realistically get with armored vehicles.

I don't see player-controlled infantry ever being a thing in WT, but they would fit very well in a PvE or PvEvP mode, similar to how games used to have large groups of AI tanks along with the player tanks. A PvE or PvEvP mode could certainly help draw back a more casual crowd to WT. By the way, did you know that there is already infantry in the game on certain maps? It's mostly in the SP/Coop air missions I believe, but little infantry which I think are just sprites can fire at your aircraft with rifles. You can shoot back and kill them.

my feeling is that they'll see how asymmetrical/horizontal warfare or whatever it's called with infantry and how they would effect the tank combat and what not i don't know though i'm having a hard time actually thinking what could be it because that is a very far reach already

Imho they're testing verticality, something people have many times suggested as feature in design of new maps. Ie more bridges, highways and parking lots in urban maps. Something that small stuff like Wiesel could climb. Remember how they had to block the bridge on Dock/Terminal just because L3 was able to squeeze through onto it? Or how they nerfed grip for tracked vehicles across the board because people were climbing rocks? This is a test on how gameplay reacts to this. Because as you've said, Enlisted is their game for infantry. Besides WT had AI infantry since release and adding more of it to maps won't add something fun to gameplay, it'll just make it more tedious. Even if I like Heliborne's ideas😅

Spookston I implore you: Play the type 75 SPH this is my 31st attempt, and I have no intent on halting such requests. Now, why should I spend a few hours of my day attempting such a strenuous task, you may ask? Well ill tell you: first off the type 75 sits at a very favorable br at 6.3, where it can face ww2 and cold war tanks alike. However, this does not stop this SPH from being a monster at either battle rating. With a 10 second reload autoloader, this SPH is not to be trifled with, allowing it to be a very capable brawler and sniper. In addition, the type 75 gets access to the one, the only god shell: the M107(PF) HE-VT round. This round is perhaps one of the most powerful projectiles at this br along with the Bkans hevt round. Since it has an incredible 9 KILOGRAMS of TNT equivalent, you can overpressure anything from panthers to tigers and even things such as leopards and centurions without even hitting them! Simply just overcompensate your aim to make the round pass within 3 meters of the tanks roof and they aren’t gonna have a good time! Furthermore, the type 75 also has excellent gun handling! With a good top speed and excellent gun elevation speeds, you can typically get your shot off easily before your adversaries. Overall, this would be a great tank for a video on 😊 Tl;DR: plz make type75 sph video here are some more pros and cons of the type 75 sph: High firepower: The Type 75 SPH is armed with a 155mm howitzer that can deliver devastating blows to enemy tanks and other ground targets. It can fire a variety of ammunition types, including high-explosive, smoke, and rocket-assisted projectiles, making it a versatile weapon on the battlefield. Long-range capabilities: With a maximum range of over 20 kilometers, the Type 75 SPH is capable of providing long-range fire support for friendly tanks with all shell types. It can engage targets from a safe distance, allowing it to avoid direct confrontations with enemy tanks by firing over hills with its large drop. Mobility: Despite its heavy armament, the Type 75 SPH is relatively mobile and can quickly reposition on the battlefield. Its low profile and decent speed make it an excellent choice for players who prefer hit-and-run tactics. Unique gameplay: The Type 75 SPH is a relatively rare vehicle in War Thunder, and playing it can provide a unique gameplay experience. It requires a different playstyle than other tanks, as it is primarily a support vehicle rather than a front-line fighter, however you can brawl with its 10 sec autoloader making it a really fun direct assault vehicle aswell.

Maybe with the future implementation of drones from Boston Dynamic dogs / mechanical infantry. Maybe they'll be included as vehicles by Gaijin on a technicality. I could definitely see them making these as possible supports like drones for some ground vehicles.

I think what we're testing in this event is a more complicated crew damage system. If you look at the x-ray on some kills instead of just changing the pilot's color when hit, it would sometimes show a limb was destroyed as the killing blow. It doesn't seem to work fully yet as many kills it didn't show what got hit but just killed the player. But that's the only reasonable thing I can assume this is testing for

A nice thing about the event is that it gives new players a chance to try actual combat in MBT's, IFV's and helicopters. So they have an idea of how top tier feels.

What I belive is that Gaijin is trying to test AI infantry on War Thunder from what they got from Enlisted. And This test is more about to see how players react to a near human size enemy. This could add some utility for some vehicle's secondary and anti-infantry weapons.

That's weird - when I played the "Spike SR4" was fire-and-forget, so the way Spike SR is in real life. Also, there is no SACLOS Spike - the versions that can be guided manually (from Spike LR upwards) are TV guided via an optical fiber. They work essentially the same way as when the UDES 33 was bugged after the Cyberpunk April Fools (and like the missile in that event).

I see the only way of including infantry into war thunder is similar to what Heliborne did. In that transport helicopters could deploy AI controlled infantry to ambush hostiles or to defend caps which could be interesting. But again no idea if that would be A) fun and B) functional. It worked for heliborne but everything in that flew and had time to react to manpads.

I think this might be them testing more detailed maps on top of everything else you've mentioned, they added more detail to the existing maps in rotation for the event, such as adding simple chairs and pools on the roof tops in sun city, they've also seemed to have modeled areas like the construction site on the alaska map, as well as the subway rails that run throughout the city and you can actually walk around in the construction site, albeit the huge exosuit can't fit through the doorways there, even AC units hanging on buildings have collision and I wouldn't have expected them to have it.

One of the most vital aspects of tanks is its interaction with infantry. whether supporting it or attacking it. Could be that gaijin wants to add some anti-infantry roles to the game. I doubt that infantry will be playable normally.

my theory was it was testing advanced human damage models as the damage models on the mechanized infantry is split into parts like chest head and arms.

Honestly, I get a more...somewhat Mechwarrior vibe. Or just a mecha vibe in general. We do have Armored Core VI coming out but that's probably too arcadey and fast paced for Gaijin's style.

I actually especially like your idea of a gamemode with infantry where you work your way up to spawn in a tank. Really weird you had so much lag and crashes though, as i didn't have any at all on max settings The absolute most fun I've had in a Gaijin event in a while, being able to jump onto enemy tanks, go into first person and punt them through their roof with a heavy machinegun or anti-tank grenadelauncher, Warthunder hasn't been this fun for me in a while. Man i wish there was some way we could keep these exo suits, maybe as decoratives for our hangar or some such, i found the event to be pretty awesome Especially as its so different from the usual vehicular gameplay, and there, like in Enlisted, was a lot of verticality and new places to go to in the form of buildings with interiors (Alaska for example had multi-story parking garages that you could walk all the way up into)

major problem; the power source for all the weapons with current day technology wouldnt be sufficient to fit/power all the components for a significant amount of time

@@etanthegreat2627 The gun shouldn't need power to fire, only aim. As for rocket launchers, we've made shoulder mounted anti air guided missiles in the 80s and before. The leg system would probably need the most amount of power, but with an appropriate power source by current means, it can be done.

The jump system wouldnt work but yeah everything else is plausible, but right now we still dont have a reliable light weight systems that isnt bulky and can run for a long time.

If Gaijin used this as a testbed for a War Thunder like Science Fiction game that would be cool. You could have a 'historical progression' of futuristic weapon systems that keep going until you functionally have mechs.

Imho they're testing verticality, something people have many times suggested as feature in design of new maps. Ie more bridges, highways and parking lots in urban maps. Something that small stuff like Wiesel could climb. Remember how they had to block the bridge on Dock/Terminal just because L3 was able to squeeze through onto it? Or how they nerfed grip for tracked vehicles across the board because people were climbing rocks? This is a test on how gameplay reacts to this. Because as you've said, Enlisted is their game for infantry. Besides WT had AI infantry since release and adding more of it to maps won't add something fun to gameplay, it'll just make it more tedious. Even if I like Heliborne's ideas😅

Maybe it's to test better terrain interaction. Tanks often get stuck on buildings, but we do know that it is somewhat possible to get wiesels into wrecked buildings albeit it is very janky. Maybe they will reduce the jankiness of moving vehicles into wrecked buildings (need to improve the debris interaction as well though I think).

AI infantry, an RTS gamemode for player-controlled infantry, or squad-based infantry where one person controls a whole squad would add a ton to the game imo. But what the game really needs is more people in matches to pull that off. Infantry and AI targets would help draw CAS off of tanks and would make SPAA more pertinent to actually winning battles

0:39 the focus of enlisted is infantry with vehicle additions, if war thunder got infantry, it would be vehicle-focused with infantry additions likely something like we already saw in the april fools event, you're given a limited amount of infantry spawns but they cost no spawnpoints, for either super risky plays to get extra early game sp (everything outruns you and everything can kill you in one or two machine gun shots), or to simply be able to continue existing in the game even after running out of SP, by spawning in as infantry to either take out other infantry or try your damn best to bazooka some tank you get funny explosive tube soldier who's dead the moment he's spotted by any tank thanks to being an actual threat if he gets in close range riflemen to, well, take out other infantry snipers to, similarly, take out other infantry assaulting forces for a lighter faster package (still slower than even the tutel) but with weaker armament and so on alternatively you can try to rush caps with them and get absolutely obliterated by artillery also you'd get to hit infantry with napalm

Hey! Spookston! I think the test is of the American spike and it's fire forget system. Press control on the trooper. I believe it's on America and its the either the assist dude or the anti tank dide, but they have a 12.7 and something that can guide in by itself.

What I wanted so much from warthunder when I still played the game was AI controlled infantry and manned field guns/AAA in tank battles that would add to the feeling of the battle and add extra ways to gain credits and research by killing infantry and field guns while also having additional hazards for tankers and airmen. It would also add some opportunities for new game modes both symmetric and asymmetric such as 2 teams with their infantry assaulting the enemy spawn or a field HQ with the tankers having to escort the infantry and the infantry cover the tankers from enemy infantry AT or one team being dug in and having to repel waves of enemy infantry and tanks until they lose their entrenched position or enemy tickets run out. My general idea as to how infantry AI would have worked is how infantry is handled in IL-2 Sturmovik: Tank Crew - Clash at Prokhorovka

The only way I'd like to see infantry bought into Warthunder would be as deployables from APC's and IFV's similar to a game called Heliborne, Heliborne gives you X amount of infantry slots within a helicopter and you can control what spaces are used for what type of infantry teams said teams being: Two man Anti-Tank, Two man Anti-Air and Standard Infantry Sections. I'd imagine the AT and AA Teams would be handy but unable to directly maintain control of a cap while standard Infantry could contest a cap and provide limited Anti-Tank capability, High Explosive rounds and Machine Guns would obviously be highly effective at taking out the threat so proper positioning would be essential to make use of them. So long as the infantry are made squishy and vulnerable to the right weapons it shouldn't be OP but would add another dynamic to an otherwise pretty straightforward game.

Personally I find the idea of adding infantry to the game a lot of fun, it just feels right to me, since some vehicles are just kinda shit because they are reliant on being infantry support or are meant to displace infantry from a fortified/entrenched position. Simply put to me it sounds like a good idea specially if they are something you can bring out for free or for a low amount of points it would be a nice way to drive up player participation and retention in a match, since even if you get killed in your first vehicle you might be able to bring out some infantry and keep fighting so you no longer have the situation where you spawn, get killed and immediately return to hangar because you can't respawn anymore.

One thing I’d love to see is AI ground units to give IFVs more purpose in the game, and maybe give bombers more variety by making it an option to airdrop troops over certain areas like bombing targets, and maybe even mixing the 2

3:25 That sounds like how MechWarrior: Living Legends works. You start with a basic suit of power armor and enough credits to buy a basic tank, aircraft, or 'Mech. As you capture objectives and damage/kill enemies you get more credits that you can spend on better and better stuff. Of course, it's a science fiction setting, so you're never stuck as a basic infantryman, allowing you to contribute with your power armor even if you run out of credits. I'm not sure how playing as infantry in War Thunder would work balance-wise; you would be very slow, and unless all of the maps are overhauled to allow you to hide in buildings and heavy foliage you would be extremely vulnerable.

Testing mechanics aside, I feel like this is the best depiction of a Infantry - Armour cooperating dynamics I've seen in a video game for a while: The IFVs are great at taking out flying&running infantry with their autocannon, but will get destroyed by tank pretty easily; Tanks are great against enemy IFVs and tanks, but can't really deals with these highly mobile flying dudes, its often you see a tank swarm by 2 ~ 3 infantry and they cant take them out because of the slow firerate. as a result the most efficient way to fight is to have IFVs flank with infantry cover (or just go where your infantry teammates are most concentrate) while tanks wait for enemy armor to appear

I kinda think it would be an interesting concept of infantry into this game, yeah sure its "vehicles only" but having an enlisted like game mode with infantry and infantry tech tree would be interesting, for instance, ww2 battle ratings like 1.0-3.0 could be ww2 soldiers, and then top tier trees could be some robot looking infantry not sure thats my mind, infantry might be buggy for the game but might be fun.

Biggest issue I've come to realise so far, sniper class is way too effective at close range. There's really no reason to use anything else. 7:00 ok yeah that confirms it

3:23 Funny, because that was the way in Homefront, you start with all infantry and as you ptfo and get kills you get credits to spawn in a vehicle (IFV, MBT, scout heli or attack heli) or pop in a gadget which can go from air drops (i think) to a C 130 dropping white phosphorus. Don't know what it is? No problem, it shut down in the early 2010s with THQ shutting down and its sequel had tanked.

If they add infantry I think if they made it so you press a button that deploys a small 3 to 5 man squad and you can tell them to go to a marker somewhere on the map, Mabey like squad markers work. Then you could open up a small menue and make them dig a small trench and set up there, make an MG bunker like at D-day, or setup a PAK-40 style gun you can control if you have to like how you can switch to your drone.

If they implement infantry like they did in Armored Warfare, where the IFVs/APCs can carry a squad of people that just get dropped in a spot and engage anything they see, I think it could be a cool feature. A Bradley drops off a squad of infantry on a cap and they pop people with rocket launchers. Granted giving them some sort of basic pathfinding/survival techniques would be necessary to keep them relevant. Running away from arty, trying to avoid direct combat with tanks, etc etc. Maybe different squad types could work as well, but who knows until we get something.

There is some other way I can see humans as a option in WarThunder, in Simulation it can be used as when folk are in commander position or have to repair. The other is to use them a bit like drones where you can take the chance to send out one of the crew to spy or place a mine, or maybe give to another player. Maybe it can be so that players that lost all their tanks can stay in the game with a support role, to drive unarmed cars with crews so a player can request backup crew, the player then can try to drive to that position and then send out and control the human until it get to the tank, that will give some support points and give the game an alternative to go to a cap point to get your crew member. But I hope we will not see player controlled infantry, maybe as max NPC near the start position to be like anti-spawn campers, where you do not get any points fo killing them, but is a tank been to close for long (or outside of battle area) NPC can start goin towards them to mark them on the map and do some damage.

they could also testing the ''infantry'' gamemode, in a 3rd person shooter set-up, instead of vehicles it's soldiers with different bodyarmors, camoflages and weapons, with these futuristic suits maybe being the top tier and the tanks and planes could be a back-up spawn like in ground battles imagine picking an American grenade thrower and facing a German machine gunner in BR 3.7 for example, it could be really fun honestly and would help them break into the shooter genre more

i think they may be testing locking at ground vehicles with heat signature, like you said, there's a heat seeking Spike and i noticed the AA guy can lock on tanks with the stinger

Infantry SKTs may have a fitting role TBH. Recon/Sniper Teams with MG/HAT/MANPADS Support essentially. Even SUAS systems. With the scale of the maps, Sniper weapon systems would have fun ballistically. In limited quantity Small Kill Teams lurking with a Jav and Stinger may have a place. But only if their are like 2/3 SKTs per team. And within those teams, a finite amount of slots for positions like: Drone operator, Sniper, HAT Gnr, AA Gnr. Etc.

4:50 - Fun fact: When I first started playing WT back in 2016... all I had was my poor single-core 3.2GHz Pentium 4 cpu, and a geforce 9500GT with 512MB of VRAM, and I must say... Your game is currently running about 20-30% better than it did on my old PC, so please Spookston... stop complaining :)))) btw. my worst nightmare was when I saw the Advance to Rhine map loading, because my game would instantly crash as soon as it finished loading (probably due to a lack of VRAM on my GPU)

Would powersuits/powerarmor be consider infantry or becomes its own unit. I mean they don't call armor cavalry. As far as infantry I would say Infantry NPCs would be useful as just to form lines, be transported by APCs, IFVs and Helicopters and act as the flag carriers to show which side holds certain positions/objectives.

I really really wanted the 3D decorations (even tho they should've been added in a normal event rather than as joke) But they just had to make it a inhumane grind to get them 40k points? I got 11 kills in a game and made 1400 points The event gives less points for doing stuff than normal ground ab and rb, and of course there's no booster to it

Combine this event with the Sturmtiger event and it might be that they are testing for IFVs and APCs getting the ability to deploy AT teams. Maybe once per match you can set up a semi-mobile AT team and switch to it like you can do with drones (or the AT guns in the STiger event).

I feel like infantry in WT would have to be AI for flavour, like the ground forces in Air game modes. They could be more plentiful at the start of matches, where you have to break through a line of (ineffectual) infantry before engaging enemy armour. They could also make approaching urban areas slightly more hazardous for lighter vehicles, until their numbers are sufficiently depleted.

The whole ejection seat addition made me assume infantry gameplay was on the horizon. This just adds to it. I think it'd be fun. The annoying getting sniped by "some guy laying prone in a ush with an rpg" is already in the game with the annoying addition of air in ground games.

AI infantry would be a really interesting idea, and would give more of a use to all the machine guns we have. AT troops should be fairly uncommon, which makes them a bit of a fun gimmick to play around with rather than an annoyance or a primary objective. Maybe there can be a new 'attrition' gamemode or something that centres around infantry support and dealing damage to enemy infantry. I don't think the infantry should be player controlled. If it is, it should be a loose control over a large group rather than on a specific level - not like Enlisted where you can swap between them, but more in terms of being able to give them orders and the AI will handle the rest. Could be interesting to see that in the form of dismounts (i.e: you can have dismounts on troop carrying vehicles and order them to follow you, or to guard your position, etc.)

It would be cool if there is a game that allows for both fast moving infantry combat VS heavier armoured combat. You could even drop the heavy armour from some type of orbital platform. And from this event we can see that a higher mobility infantry could work against armour enemies. We could call it some type of Armour Drop, Tank Fall. I don't know, just shooting out ideas.

I don’t think that inf should be player controlled, but rather AI controlled. Like how in air you can shoot down the AI bombers it would give you some non player targets. Also I’m higher tiers you could deploy them from your APC. Or my opinion , the *best* option they could go battle field two/call to arms and have a player in RTS mode commanding infantry and have the first person players in tanks like normal

Nothing about this says infantry are coming to WT. IF they did introduce them, they need to go down the route of Heliborne... where infantry are used to take/hold/add a small defence to objectives or dropped around the map by players to ambush other players. Or just have them as deployable squads that could occupy structures etc

I've always thought they could implement infantry as a feature as an AI unit under player control. Only the IFVs (or similar) vehicles would get infantry squads. Players could order their squad to mount/dismount, go here, cover here, scout here, etc. Some flavor thoughts: Maybe points can only be captured by infantry? Or, tanks only capture them very slowly. It would add reason for players to actually use HE (I feel like it's a fairly useless round in most cases :/).

I think infantry makes the most sense as NPC enemies on the battlefield summoned by player actions. So IFV deployment, paradrops, transport helis, etc. They fight eachother and can fire on and damage players with the right weapons of course. Because honestly I feel that making a game about vehicles for combined arms warfare without combining arms might be the root of alot of problems we have.

I mean infantry would be fun but like only anti tenk like you would have maybe two troops for each rank and like first 3-4 would be like cannnons like a 37mm or a 6pounder but later on a rpg and stuff but the cons would be like low ammo amount and speed and no armor so yeah it would be just another scene like a light tank hideing behind a corner
