I"ve been playing "Find me!" inside my house for years, especially when the weather is bad outdoors. They LOVE it!

I literally just played this with my 10 month old puppy last night! It’s such an amazing game! Because our house is so small, I’ve taught him to chill under a blanket so that he can’t see where I’ve hidden. He gets so excited to see me! I’m considering doing search and rescue training with him because he’s gotten so good at finding me even in difficult places like the closet with the door closed! 😊

I was just thinking I would have no way of getting my dog to stay and not see where I hide. This is such a great idea, thank you so much for sharing it! My dog loves her blankets, but I still probably wouldn't have thought of it😂 Much appreciated!

We played that game with my Australian Shepherd. My son ( age 12 ) would go outside and hide, I would take the dog out and say find Carl he would put his nose to the ground and track him and find him every time. I would hold the leash and he would go hide again. This would only work about 5 or 6 times because he would cross his path to many times. That's when I would tell Carl to make a sound and the dog would find him . We started playing this game when the dog was about 5 months old. I did not give any treats. Just pet him and tell him good boy.

Our dog went absolutely NUTS for this game!!!!! I've never seen him so engaged and watching us so closely. He could hardly WAIT to go find us!!!!! It was so fun! Thank you so much for sharing!!!!

Euchre and all the dogs were fun to watch. We adopted a 7 year old and we're still getting to know each other. I was able to teach her sit and shake hands within a few days. She's not toy motivated at all and actually went in her crate when I squeaked one. It's one she came with so I don't quite understand that. She loves trying to find us though and maybe a game like this will bond us even more. Thanks for sharing.

This was so sweet to see. I can see the bond between Yuker and his owner. Good idea!! What about making a sniff blanket with velcro pockets? Put in it scents of mint, boullion cubes, smell, stinking socks, ammonia, lemon, pork rinds, cheetos, dried buffalo Etc. What do you think? Also hiding scented things under cushions in couch , big pillows, or mattress

We also play hide and seek with objects. Our BC/Aussie mix goes as fast as she can through the house trying to find all of the toys I’ve hidden. It’s a great winter game.

The matt game is a nice way to get a dog comfortable jumping up on a pet scale.our senior beagle Enya got right up on that pudge-O-meter and Nazareth our 6mo pitmix doesn't mind it for a cookie

I played it. Now my dog is afraid of this game. I will put him in the sitting and wait position. As soon as I move out of his sight, he removes himself from that position and stays by my side,

Thanks for the video! I play this with my dog but my partner gives him the command to find me. How do you do this without a second person? Do you wait until you are out of sight from your dog and say ‘find me’? (After you teach them the ‘find me’ command like in the first part of video). And how did Carol set up the game with her dog outside? Thank you!!

Initially I really do like someone holding my dog. But you can also teach it by dropping a handful of treats on the ground and give them permission to snarfel them up. then go hide. And once my dogs know the game I can do it while they are distracted. Like Texas was in the video. She’s having a bit of a puppy burn and I slip behind the tree.

I love playing hide and seek with my pup. ^_^ You guys always show training with treats... My dog is a medical alert dog and I only give her treats when she medically alerts me, any suggestions for training without treats besides praise?

Absolutely Laura. In the second game you see me using a toy with Thorpe. I like to use both when I’m training. So if you don’t want to use food a toy is a good option. And it allows us to be more a part of the reward - interacting with us. I could also throw the toy. And sometimes I’ll reward my guys with a chance to chase me. Or jump up on me. Or a trick involving me. Paw’s up on request on my arm. A jump into my arms. Thorpe does a jump up and push off my body on command. So if you teach a trick that involves you (even a hand tap) that can be used as a reward as well.

I love this! We just adopted a 12-week rescue and will use this along with all your other videos that have been great! I would love to hear what your dog's breed is. Our pup looks like yours in the face, but no fluffy fur. Since she's a rescue, we don't know papa's breed and she looks nothing like mama, who's a short-haired shepard. Can you tell me the breed of Yuker? Thanks!

I do like to have someone restraining my pup when I am first teaching the hide and seek. But if there’s not a second person you can also sprinkle a few treats on the ground. Tell you pup they have permission to snarfel them up and that gives you time to hide. And once my dogs are trained I can also tell them to sit or lie down and wait till they Hear that find me. Outside I work the same way to begin with. But once they are trained I look for opportunities when they are distracted. That could be sniffing or in the case in the video Texas has just gotten outside and has lots of energy. She’s having a little burn around and I took the opportunity to hide. I had to wait a bit. When we first went out she’s focused on me and what we are going to do. You just have to wait for the right moment.

@@TheClawrenc thanks, Carol! That's helpful. I've decided to wait a bit with this game though as I have just started work and 6 month old Booty has to be home alone for hours. I'm thinking get her used to that before I provoke her separation anxiety unneccessarily :-) so we tug instead!

How do you train your dogs to let you see his teeth? I would like to make it easy for my vet to tchek my puppys (15 weeks) teeth. I love your video on vet training in tchecking the paws and ears. But I still find it difficult to see the teeth.

If your dog is biting you then you can try using a treat or toy. . So when they bit you try to keep your arm/hand/wutever they're bitting still and then with a treat put it on their nose and add a realize word like "stop" or anything. Guide them to the side of you with the treat on the nose and say "yes" as your marker word when they go to your side and give them the treat. . With a toy as you're keeping what they're bitting still dangle the toy close to your dog and make it exciting. When they release what they're bitting to chase the toy as you guide it to your side say "yes" as your marker word. And then play a bit of tug with your dog. . Your dog should overtime learn that it's more rewarding not to bite you. I hope I could help have fun playing!

Mellu. Young dogs often want to use their teeth when stimulated. Have a toy or food out so that you help her not rehearse that behaviour. Pattern the behaviour you want.
