Some young people today watch his highlights and gain respect for him. Barkley's Suns were 1pt away from beating Jordans Bulls for a ring. He got MVP that year in '93 because without him, Phoenix would have been almost dead last in the West. His defense from rebounds and blocking always put them into better positions to win.

there are stories of hotel workers and valets and other working class folks meeting Barkley and talking about how much of a humble and personable guy he was NPR had a story of Barkley striking up a friendship with a Chinese man just so randomly. They met at a hotel bar and they talked for like hours about basketball. The Chinese guy ended up going all the way to Leeds, Alabama to attend the funeral of Barkley's mom. Barkley went out of his way to repay the favor when the man died and attended his funeral in like Iowa or something. it really speaks to his character

I assume he was waiting for his ride to the studio. I walked back and asked Charles for a picture. He took the picture with one of my coworkers without hesitation. Charles Barkley won the biggest title of them all, and this is the Olympic Gold Medal with the Dream Team in Barcelona ´92. Its bigger than an NBA title, which its just a national championship. There is no bigger award than winning representing your country in the olympics, and not only that, he was the best player on that team. A lot of people have won NBA titles, but to be the best player and to win gold with the original "Dream Team" is something that only Charles has. And a lot of players have been selected to represent the US at national championships, basketball teams etc, but to have played and won with the DREAM TEAM, the biggest team ever asambled is something thats bigger than everything.
