Also insane how Coach Sumlin wouldn't allow his freshmen to speak with reporters in an attempt to keep them grounded and disciplined.....but behind the scenes he just allowed his superstars to do damn near anything they wanted. I know a man is responsible for their own behavior but had Manziel had more rules, work ethic and discipline instilled in him during his collegiate career his pro career would've most likely been very very different. Then Aggies finally get rid of Sumlin and I'm thinking, about time, lets get a coach in here who does it the right way............ And they hire Jimbo Fisher... WTF. Jimbo is nothing but Sumlin in white face.

@@sunshinebaby7034 Out of sheer curiosity and boredom, I read much of the article you talk about. It is(and I cannot stress this enough) the stupidest, most nonsensical waste of space on the internet. The premise of the argument being made is that we are immortal because "it is impossible to be conscious of being unconscious." This is at best a play on words and at worst the beginning of a cult. One does not have to observe something for it to be true. I did not observe the moon landing, but it happened. In the same way, I do not have to observe my own death for it to be a reality. I dunno if this is just a joke or what, but I'm generally anti-culty nonsense.

Here after watching the documentary. I was fortunate enough to see this game live. I will never forget how absolutely shocking it was as a bama fan to be down 20 to 0 in the blink of an eye. The stadium was completely silent. It was such a privilege to see a performance like that. To truly witness greatness. So many gifted players on the field that day. Johnny was just operating on another level. No matter what happened years later for Johnny. No one can take that performance away. I’m glad to see him doing better and that he seems content in his life right now.

I used to watch JM at Kerrville. I would travel all the way from SA just to watch him play, like a lot of folks, in Texas. Let me tell you, this game is nothing compared to the amazing skills he performed on a weekly basis at Tivy. I once saw him run about 96 yards for a TD with no help from his offensive line. He ran up the middle after the snap and ran right into the heart of the defense. Every defensive player jumped on top of him to stop him cold, but then, something strange happened. Out pops Johnny from the pack and he just hauls it the length of the field. That was the moment I thought to myself, who in the world is this guy. He was simply the greatest high school football player I have ever seen in all my years of watching HS Football. No one comes close. He is a legend in Texas. When I saw this game and how her performed against a stacked Alabama team (#1), I was not surprised. This was not even close to his best game. Usually he puts up over 50 points in the first half basically by himself. A one man Hell on Earth.

thank you Johnny for the lesson: The Power of Persistence Calvin Coolidge - “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

His offensive line had 4 first round draft picks and the 5th just couldnt seem to cement a roster spot at center. He arguably had a better OL at A&M than he did at Cleveland. That doesn't excuse him not making in the NFL. He always liked to party, but Sumlin kept him just enough in line to maximize his abilities on the field. He literally carried the 2013 team on his shoulders because it had no defense. But if you want to see what he can really do, watch the bowl game after the 2013 season when we played Duke. He willed that team to a win that night.

Because Saban always schedules garbage games all year every year. Its just so frustrating. When OU fans or Ohio State fans play tough opponents all year and prove their worth. And then Saban plays 2 FCS opponentd and an awful nonconference opponent, and then the worst SEC teams. You never see Alabama playing Georgia. Next seasons schedule for OU has 3 ten win teams from the season before for their nonconference games. Ohio State is playing TCU, the 2nd best team from the Big 12. And who is Alabama playing? The Citadel, Lousivile (Post-Lamar), LA Lafayette, and Arkansas State. So yeah, they will blow put every opponent except for Auburn and get back into the SEC Championship game. Not because they are good. But because it is easy to.

Victor Von Deathstroke Lol. They don't though. Every time they play a good team like last year when they played Auburn. They lose. What evs though. They can blow out garbage teams every year because sooner or later the tide will change. Texas A&M and Georgia are starting to steal recruits and Saban is getting older. Sooner or later that garbage schedule they play wont matter, bevause they will get blown out in the SEC championship every year. Cant wait!

Even in defeat, Alabama football is involved in amazing college football moments. Work once took me to the heart of the University of Alabama. I had initial reservations about how Alabama fans treat others outside of their football circle. But I left that area with a deep understanding of very passionate fans that love their football team. And for some of the fans I conversed with, they were very friendly and we just talked football. For a guy from the New York area, I have tremendous respect for the Alabama football program, their University and their fans. Hopefully someday I'll return back and enjoy the experience again.

I used to hate on this dude back when he was with the Browns but after going through some issues of my own I can totally see how this could happen to someone, especially a young athlete. Honestly if I was in the same position and thrust into the spotlight at that age I probably would have been completely distracted by partying, money, and girls. He has one hell of a story to tell and will always be remembered as a great college athlete…I just hope he doesn’t end up having huge regrets for not maximizing his potential. Sometimes you only get one shot and when it’s gone, it’s gone.

He was a fast dude with very very very VERY good receivers. Not saying he couldn’t throw the ball, but he did make some idiotic decisions, and his receivers ALWAYS delivered.

This game spawned the SI article which I, after reading, had the thought "Man, his parents are real enablers". When I voiced that to someone, they said, "Nah, he's just a normal college kid". That man later said "you nailed it" as J Football's career spiraled down the drain as mom and dad proved to be party buddies rather than parents (Partying through the night with him, violating his curfew, the night before a home game in Cleveland).
