@4thAndGoalSports 🤣🤣🤣 yeah you never watched him play. He admits himself that he couldn't read a defense to save his life, and anyone who watched him knows his accuracy was God awful. You don't have a career 56% completion percentage by happenstance. And he eclipsed 3000 yards passing twice in his career, and BARELY in each of those years. In his career with the falcons he had a QB rating of like 70... Elite passer 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Both statements are correct. His insane natural talent allowed him to make elite QB throws. But lack of preparation or concentration would cause him to blow easy routine passes. Add in the fact that he always missed time due to injury and you get a player that had flashes but was never able to be great consistently.

Maybe, but he would've had to have disassociated from the hoodrats in "Bad News" (Newport News, one of the roughest mid-sized urban places in the United States), which he didn't seem able or willing to do. In the end, Michael Vick undid Michael Vick. At least he seems to have redeemed himself somewhat in recent years and still did better than his full-blooded criminal brother, Marcus.

Nah. The difference was his change in attitude after prison. It was night and day difference. But the best coaches he ever had was Dan Reeves and Andy. Dan Reeves understood Vick and let him be himself. Jim Mora tried to force him to run a traditional offense. It was unfortunate that Arthur Blank fired Reeves over a petty dispute. But it was mainly the change within Vick. If he had his head on straight in ATL it would have been a whole different story.

I'll still believe (outside of his off field actions) with a creative offensive mind, Vick had potential to become the greatest NFL QB of all time. True, he had electrifying speed but his arm was one of, if not the best in the league. He was simply ahead of his time and, by his own admission, didn't work as hard at the preparation as he should have. He was the prototype for all these dual threat QBs in the league today, just was ahead of his time.

I think for those outside of the typical college coverage area non college football watches. I lived in NC at the time, so I would see his games. His passing ability was amazing.

People who thought shorty (Mike Vick) was overrated.. changed that opinion after this night. Lol. I remember watching this game and thinking... "That Mike Vick guy, is incredible." Well now that I think about it, it just confirmed what I already thought, watching him earlier in the season. The run he had against Boston College, made me a believer. This game, just confirmed my original affirmation.

I imagine there will still a few doubters because Boston College isn't exactly Miami/FSU defensively. When he did that vs FSU defense like Brent Musburger and Gary Danielson said on the call it was clear that the game of football had never seen anything like Vick before.

He'd be a perennial MVP if he were drafted into today's NFL. His talents make all these other dual-threat QBs second rate and third rate.* When he got drafted, everyone wanted to turn him into Steve Young. Thankfully, times have changed. *Except for Newton

You are exactly right! They wanted to turn him into a pocket passer and it just took away from what he could have been. Atlanta had so much invested in him and they understandably limited him.
