It's a miracle to have one player who is the best (or at least joint best) scorer, the best passer, and the best dribbler in the game for the last 9 years. Players who are the best in 2 of these 3 categories at their time are extremely rare, but to be the best in all 3 is a f***in miracle. If he didn't even score goals I would still consider him the best player in the world, but the goals just propel him out of this galaxy football-wise. Some players might have had more successful seasons or even careers than him, by being part of better teams, but there has never been a better individual player than Lionel Messi walking the face of this earth.

The most painful thing is knowing that the future generations will look at ballon d’ors and trophies & somehow believe that Ronaldo was equal or better than Messi.

Messi doesn’t like to be the goal scorer as much as he likes to be the playmaker. He said it. “I’d rather push my team up then to be selfish scoring goals” , the thing is messi is just too good that even when he becomes the best playmaker he also outscores literally everyone including strikers around the world. I grew up watching the Brazilian ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Zidane... i have never seen anyone as good and as consistent than Messi. Even during Barcelona’s bad years (2013, 2014, 2016) messi still outperformed everyone. Messi doesn’t have competition. I really admire how humble he is despite being the best. His unselfishness has costed him several balón d or especially now that it has become a popularity and marketing contest with out considering all around individual performances.
