GB on the projector must be epic! You're stacking pixels like lego blocks over there. Piping through the Bithead Sound System no less. Love the theme today, reminds me of you busting out Hiroshi Suzuki CAT LP for us.

same age as you, got the gameboy for xmas in 89 i think. the chiptunes were amazing. thanks for sharing who was behind the music in some of these great games. the people behind the music in games deserve a lot of praise.

I miss the sound of the chain when we do picture picture time :( Also I loved the music from the Gameboy. It wasn't until later in life I realized how crazy it was that the Gameboy made all these sounds from so little !!

So nostalgic. I had 10 yo when my cousin received a GB with castlevania for christmas. 30 years later he gave me the gameboy in the box, like new.

I had Quarth as a kid. Was such a good game I didnt think anyone I knew had ever heard about. And the name of the game didn't exactly make it easy to recommend to other kids to get them excited. Definitely a hidden gem. And was stupid cheap back in the day (I think I got it used for five dollars back then). Was one of those Funcoland low priced risky buys that paid off well!

Video games were doomed as soon as Hollywood got involved. Hardware limitations and chip tunes inspire creativity. Use your rotten CD's as coasters or Chinese throwing stars!

S-Tier: I say this as someone who has made a console music tier list. The Game Boy sound chip is S-TIER: the first TMNT game ("Fall of the Foot Clan") proves it -so too the first Chase H.Q. I bought GB Chase H.Q._just for the music._

Though Hidehiro Sensei went into the "witness protection program" 8 bit chiptunes live on through fan composers like Bulby. Below is Secrets of the Forest from Chrono Trigger in 8-bit. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gNVoo8qiyJvWfpc.htmlsi=AHLBEv_C2GjCZA8Q

I often ask myself how are we going to get you to 100k before 2025… I stumbled on your videos from the pc engine mini rant. Maybe these history lesson/deep dives are an idea 🤔 video game music composers, development companies, genres etc. Maybe dive into some Tim Follin history or throw some names into the video titles to catch people’s searchs / algorithms… just thinking out loud. All the best, yesse 💪🙏

Something very satisfying and nostalgic about chip tunes. Of course nothing could compare to the SID Chip in the C64 (computer/console wise). The best musician on that platform was of course Rob Hubbard, just a shame his talents weren't put to use in successive generations of console gaming.
