A good game is always a good game, for sure. This quote just made me happy and strong for a new year. Being a teacher and working in 4 different places, having wife and two kids just don`t make me free enough to play wherever I want. But I know one day I will. And guys, here in Brazil, they released physical copies of Cuphead, but I`m not sure if there is a disc inside or just a code, but the box art is there, sure. Try searching this online, if you are interested.

Can't tell you how refreshing it is to see a GOTY list that isn't just an endless crunch of the newest games. The vast majority of people outside of the games press don't play games that way, and retro titles are completely excluded. Good stuff! :D

I finished those this year: Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 0 and 1 Remasters, Resident Evil 2(PSX), Spider-Man, Wolfenstein The New Colossus, God of War(2018), Donkey Kong Country 2 (Again) , Chronno Trigger (Again), Ni no Kuni 2 and Final Fantasy XV.

So glad you guys mentioned Legendary Axe. It has always been one of my favorite games and was one of the first games I received with my TurboGrafx back in the 90's. Although it's been years since I beat it, I bring it out every once in a while to give it a go. Last time was actually just about an hour before I saw this video. Died on the level 4 bosses again... sigh...

Another fantastic episode with some truly amazing games and a wonderful way to finish 2018. Thank you! With all the great modern titles coming out as well as access to great retro classics I do believe we are in a golden age of video games. I have been having fun with retro inspired beat em ups on Steam like "Raging Justice" and "The TakeOver". If you like "Final Fight" and "Streets of Rage" these games are a must. Also on Steam I have enjoyed "The First Tree". Kudos again on the great picture quality! The new games look great as always but the clarity of the retro games just helps me to appreciate the beauty of their pixel art graphics even more. Same. I was able to grab Titanfall 2 for $5 at Marshals. Dollar for dollar, might have been my best pickup of the year.

Finally, someone recognizes The Legendary Axe as a great gem of a game. I beat that game many times in 1990 as a kid.

It may not be a common view, but you're not alone in being disappointed with Axiom Verge. I felt the same when I played it. It's very well made in a lot of ways, and interesting and impressive in some. I really liked the visual style. I can see why so many like the game. I had a similar view of the controls that was mentioned in the video. I also didn't love the overall stage design, which is very subjective. It wasn't my style. I remember hearing another reviewer say they felt similarly about the game, but had access to a physical map that went a long way to guiding that player enough to make the game a more positive experience. I used to think I really liked Metroidvania games, but it has since become clear that I just like Castlevania Metroidvania games(in most cases). The video was very good and showed me a lot of interesting games I missed and may try to look at further depending on platform. Thanks for sharing.

Always preferred this format of list versus releases from the past calendar year. Never enough time to get to everything, especially with tight budgets. It's why I'm so damn glad that Yo! Noid was one of my favorites from 2017.

Monster Boy is GOTY for me too, wonderful metroidvania + side scrolling Zelda-like action puzzle game, and it recalls many memories about Wonder Boy series, I'm pretty sure it's the one of the BEST metroidvania game in history and makes the Wonder Boy series to a new high level.

I played through Heavensward in 2017 and agree 100% that it's one of the best Final Fantasy experiences of all time. I played as Dragoon since vanilla ARR and felt so in place with the story of HS. Once Stormblood came out, it didn't hold me as much, even after taking up the katana and becoming a Samurai. I'd like to think my avatar retired somewhere in Kugana leaving the adventuring to the next generation.

A great video to end the year of 2018 gentlemen! No matter what it is, its always interesting to look back on what we've done in the past 12 months before starting with a clean slate. If I had to mention any older games that I gave the most attention to or just straight up beat this year, it would be Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii. I played this a long while back, but until recently I hadn't even touched it for years and failed to beat it before now so when I picked it back up I was extra determined to finish it this time. Now that I've finally finished it, I can proudly say its one of my favorite Wii games of all time. As for games that are new/current gen, I've grown very fond of Redout for my Xbox One. I bought Redout from Toys R Us before they closed when they were having liquidation sales and I have no regrets. The game is hard as nails, but if you like racing games styled from F-Zero, Wipeout and Quantum Redshift all while coupled to an awesome soundtrack then I highly recommend you try Redout for 2019 (assuming you haven't done so already of course). I'm litereally sitting here crafting in Ishgard with the game audio muted while the video plays on my other monitor. The music started up and I was VERY confused for a moment, thinking the game had somehow unmuted itself. Then I realized Try was gonna talk about FFXIV, one of my favourite games of all time and HANDS DOWN my favourite Final Fantasy, and I got way too excited! I'd give my left arm to be able to play through the end of 2.0 for the first time again!

Somehow the existence of Monstert Boy and the Cursed Kingdom remained unknown to me until this video. I will be picking up a physical Switch copy in a day or two.

This inspired me to start beating games. Just beat Life is Strange 1.

Great video guys. I highly recommend Iconoclasts. It was hands down my GOTY. The story was far deeper than I expected and it was an incredibly streamlined Metroidvania experience. It also has some of the best sprite work I've seen since Metal Slug. It's hard to believe that one guy developed it.

Just got a switch so Im getting into Sonic Mania, Smash Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 and Yooka Laylee. I just jumped into Boarderlands on Xbox360 and Banjo Kazooie yes the original. I bought a couple of multicarts, I got into Mcdonald Treasureland Adventure that way. Oh and I finally beat Super Mario Land on the Gameboy via Super Gameboy 2 for my SNES. VR is a gimmick, I will never get one. 2019 should be good, I have a copy Hoshi No Kirby Super Deluxe on the way. I can't wait to play it and dig into my SNES multicart, for Earthbound mostly.

When I lost my job I had to sell my original Little Samson. Huge bummer but I had to stay afloat. Seriously one of my favorite games though.

Awwwwww no mention to Octopath Traveller :/ Axiom Verge is kind of an experience rather than a game. It has the isolation and mistery feeling of the og Metroid (wich it pays homage) but it forgets a few elements in the way. I loved it at times and hated it at others. Happy new year by the way!

Titan Fall 2 was a EPIC campaign and it was a shocker how good it was compared to part one (MP with a video in-between) My brother and I really enjoyed A way out, we played with headsets on through the whole thing, I hope they make more games like this, it was a blast.. I FINALLY got to play Little Samson for the NES...LAST NIGHT (I just got a Everdrive N8), wow, what a great game, One I wanted but, have not yet is the Phantasy star Re-translation, I will be soon.... I started playing FFXIV near the end of 2018, still playing it now, awesome MMORPG! It's quickly became one of my favorites. Gonna have to skip this section of the video, as I'm still in Heavensward myself, and I think I just saw a spoiler. Personally I found the Secret of Mana remake to just be OK, it was nothing special.
