I watched documental a while ago when you talked about it a while ago and what a ride that show is, plus I got to go into the Hitoshi Matsumoto Rabbit Hole.....seriously search for his 24 hour tag challenge he did for a show called Gaki No Tsukai.....it is sadistically funny

Just finished watching Busted. Hoooly moly thanks for that recommendation, what a show. I've heard a load of people complain about it "not being a variety show because it's scripted", but honestly that's the joy. The fact that there is a whole elaborate game set up for them, and they have basically no idea what's going on and can do whatever the hell they want. Both episodes with the Genius Detective team are simply a delight start to finish, because they just get so god damn goofy and I adore it

As far as game shows go, my favourite cooking show will always be Iron Chef. Not only for the nostalgia of watching it as a kid, but also just how straight it plays professional chefs doing their best to cook something amazing. No frills, no dramatic music change, little editing down of the one hour they have to cook, and yet the whole episode is always non-stop cooking action with professional commentary. Always an exciting watch for me, and a shame there's nothing like it anymore.

I'm a little surprised Taskmaster wasn't mentioned. It brings the same qualities as that last detective Korean show (players get encouraged to solve a puzzle in another way the taskmaster (maker of the game) intended. Love that show and very binge worthy

Yes, anything including Downtown's Matsumoto is an instant win for me. Documental is pretty similar in concept to Gaki No Tsukai's 24 Hour No Laughing New Year's Specials. Though with less celebrity cameos that fly right over my head.

Thank you Quinns and team. I watched Busted just in time for the new season to come out a year ago and had an amazing Christmas break. The long-term storyline is serious even though the moments in between are just good times and the fun shared is amazing. Documental has now spread around the world as Last One Laughing. i first saw the Australian one after Documental, and it was not great, but have since gone on to watch a fun Canada season and friendly French season. The first episode of Indian LOL is CHAOTIC. Such a good break from just...everything. We will definitely get back to Chef in my Fridge soon :) that was the first one we tried. Thank you again this video has had a huge impact

as for north american shows, password plus and match game are two of my favourite old-school shows. well, jeopardy too, but the other two came before jeopardy got the trebek reboot in the 80s. they’re not the most intense games, but god, betty white kicks ass at both of them

I highly recommend REA(L)OVE which is on Netflix in the UK. Its a dating show where every contestant has a big "shameful" secret that gets revealed randomly by the hosts. Its very enjoyable trash TV. Also CollegeHumors Paranoid show (which is on KZfaq) is a lot of fun. 2 contestants are secretly high and the contestants need to work out who it is after each round with some contestants trying to help the high people, and others having roles. Finally the show on Channel 4 atm called 5 Guys A Week has been great. Its reality TV but it feels like the producers have not "produced" that much yet each episode has been eventful. I really hope you make part 2 of this video, especially if you include more foreign or old shows we would not usually see. Like with all these shows, it all depends on the players/contestants. If you made a video about greatest game-playing contestants, that would be brilliant.

I have come back after almost a year to post that this is the video that introduced me to Taskmaster.

Came back to this many years later now that I have a Netflix subscription and just wanted to add a couple of suggestions for any others late to the party: The Mole (reboot on Netflix, original US on KZfaq) The Traitors (UK, US, Australia S1) Whodunnit? (70s show with Jon Pertwee, can be found on KZfaq although a few of the celebrity guests are quite tasteless by today's standards, so be warned)

I didn't watch this video up until now thinking it was something not related to games at all, but then I got bored. And oh my God is this a great video.

You could also try out "Running Man". It's a variety show with some surprisingly simple yet fun challenges/games.

Quinns, Whodunnit was a reality show on ABC in 2013. It's very similar to Busted. It broke my heart they never did a season 2. You can find it on KZfaq. In a similar vein of partially scripted reality: The Quest, where contestants compete to be the chosen one in a fantasy setting.

What was that one game show about people having to do tasks in a library and keep the noise under a certain volume? That one was great, but I can't remember the name.

I would also *HIGHLY* recommend South Korea's Genius Game if you can get a hold of it

I dont know if this would count as a game show, but there's a show called The Joe Shmo Show (I probably spelt that wrong lol) but it's basically a bunch of actors and one guy that's not acting and the actors try to convince the guy their not acting even though they're being very silly. It's a silly show but good!

People should also seek out The Genius. Quinns plugged it plenty before on SU&SD, but I should remind people of it. People: it's very very good.

i watched every season of documental and got to say that it was wild. If i had to choose i would say that season 2 was the best

My mom and her brother were both on To Tell The Truth when they were kids! My mom was the real person for her round and her brother got pulled in to be a fake (for a different person).

So turns out roosterteeths new show last laugh is straight up ripped from that first show documental. They even have the same table and big buttons in the judges room. Still excited for the rest of last laugh

Citation Needed is especially great because of Tech Diff, but The Game Garage had some excellent concepts and games, and Money on Nebula is wonderful.Also Two of These People are Lying and Reverse Trivia
