We decided to explore the south eastern edge of Himachal known as the Upper Shimla Area in January 2024.
First up we visited the grand Darbargarh of Kotkhai which is a stunning feat of Himachali Architecture. We then drove from Village Kiari to Kharapathar via Deorighat. While driving on this completely off road trail we experienced the first snowfall of the season which was completely unexpected!
The next day we met up with Pranav Rawat, a mountaineer and an apple farmer, and drove up to the temples of Giri Ganga and hiked up in snow to the meadows of Kuppad/Kuppar where the source of the Giri Ganga river is.

I'm 21M and I'm so into trekking and hiking, that's why I watch foreign youtubers just to get that bliss before sleeping but I just found out your channel and its so mesmerizing to watch the scenic beauty of our own country. The tranquillity is just so relaxing. Love it. Thanks for showing it. :D

Well... Another exhilarating experience through the videos.. But the best part for me was when I heard some pahadi accent through barty in her expressions.. and it was just too subtle and natural.. also picking up some slang like "dekhi jayegi" and apprehended with some fabulous camera work as well. I certainly do feel a connection as an artist. God bless you both.

Greetings!! Ronnie and barty ... I'm literally thankfull to you guys for covering my hometown and tranquill places across Kotkhai (my hometown ❤). While sitting in Delhi i got to know things about my own place that even i wasn't much aware. Trust me guys you both are lucky enough to explore this area during snowfall, this is the best time to travel here. I wish i could meet you😞. Literally i felt so nostalgic and I'm grateful to you guys. This area is still unexplored because sad thing is that locals don't promote own culture and area ( I've experienced this). It is not only the area but culture and tradition of the area is also as beautiful as the locus. Genuinely you, Mr. Rawat and your entire team deserves a salute 🫡 Thankyou 🥹

It's so pleasant to see how Barty has caught that Himachali twang. The journey of that over the years has been so blissful to watch and to listen. It's unfortunate that despite good roads leading all the way to Kharapatthar, and despite it being as close to Shimla as it is, this part still hasn't got its due attention. Beautifully crafted video narrative as always, R&B. Thanks for making yet another morning for us viewers and followers.

I consider it a good fortune that the tourism hasn't reached this beautiful place yet in the way it has reached Manali. I spent 7 years in Manali and the pace of destruction of nature in that place due to tourism is nothing to be happy or feel fortunate about. Not only the Manali urban areas where non-stop construction is going on but also the upper parts of Manali are heavily affected due to tourism. The tree poachers have literally wiped out entire areas of forests and where there used to be dense, beautiful forests not too long ago now stand hundreds and hundreds of slaughtered tree trunks. From the outside and from a distance, it appears there still are beautiful forests up there but entering the forests is a different story altogether. There are way more selfish and greedy people than there are people who actually love nature and the government is asleep about it. I didn't know about this place before but seeing how beautiful it is, I pray tourism never reaches it the way it has reached and destroyed other beautiful natural places.

I meant it only on the lines that tourism also is a boon to some locals who can monetise their properties and improve their own standard of living. Yes, the way irresponsible tourism ruins towns and the ecology around is a whole other debate, and not one I'm getting into here. Cheers.

so happy to see you guys in my hometown. I am from Purag, Kotkhai. He is right there isn't much tourism here. Most of the people from the plains don't even know what exists beyond Kufri. And it is good in a way that the nature is still intact here. There are so many hidden gems: camping sites, trek trails, rivulets, springs and what not. Hope to see more of the Upper Shimla Area in your vlogs !

Nostalgia set in while watching this beautiful vlog :) I have a special place for kharapathar as I'm a localite working in Mumbai.
