If you like my lessons, you'll love my flagship beginners bass guitar course From Beginner To Bassist: onlinebasscour...
Learn the essential bass techniques used by the brilliant Vulfpeck bassist Joe Dart. *
You can learn about these techniques and the tone and style of funk bass, as well as learn 40 funk bass lines on my course - Funk Bass: onlinebasscour...
* If you watch this video ( • VULFPECK /// Lost My T... ) you can see that Dart plays some of the lines in different positions to how I taught it (I watched the video after uploading!). It's all good though - you can play the same thing many different ways on the bass. Plus, you can simply move the shapes I teach down the neck if you like.

Killer. I have a tough time understand some of the things by just listening, but you broke it down and made it easy to play! I am a 3 finger right hand player, so had to adapt to get the speed of those ghost notes. Thanks!

As to me, Joe's manner of playing is heavily influenced by great and slightly undervalued Rocco Prestia bass playing. All of mentioned above is there, in his (Rocco) tuition videos.

I've been working on this one for a while and I like that you tackled it. Joe is unique in that some of his notes are so staccato as to make it hard to discern when he's ghosting vs. Not. In this case i think he's playing them, but I'll listen again.

I checked. Yup ghost notes, but it sounds killer to descend down the Dm pent adding the flat 5 (blues scale) and ending on the F

Hi Dan, nice one but different to the original. Joe plays no ghost notes at all, and starts on another position on the neck. Check out the Vulfpeck video and you‘ll see. Best regards, Tommy

I watched Joes' video of this one and it was intimidating, you've made it seem possible for mortals like me. I love his M.M. bass but I'd need tone controls.If you have time and the notion of love to see a breakdown of John Taylor, love his tone.

Hi Shaun. Welcome to the bass! That one might be a little niche to do as a video. What you want to do (this takes time) is to work on your ear so that you can figure it out yourself. You can do it and I’ll have videos showing you how…

@OnlineBassCourses
@OnlineBassCourses 2 жыл бұрын
I figured this out a little before filming it and didn’t TAB it out. My lessons tend to be more showing the patterns/scales. I like to breakdown the lines so that you learn to use your ear to figure lines like this out. In the long run, that will help you more! Plus, it’s just me here, I don’t have a team, so I don’t always have the time to notate. Sorry!

Hi Dan, thank you for the inspiration. My question today is again a special one: it looks like you fret the F in the 6tet reaching out with your index finger. Do you use your second finger for the G to make it more fluent or is it your 3rd finger slipping down? Don't want to settle the wrong muscle-memory.....Thanks Thomas
@OnlineBassCourses
@OnlineBassCourses 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Thomas. I think it’s the second finger I’m using (I’m typing this not looking at the footage…). It’s probably ‘extended fingering’ which is worth looking at. I should do a lesson on that…
