EMBIID won the MVP last season with 43 wins, and finished 2nd the previous one with 45 wins... NBA keeps counting team wins instead of player wins. This season LUKA is for sure getting more than 43 wins...but Jokic is going to get the 1st seed again like he did last season and not giving the MVP to him 2 straight seasons with the 1st seed is really strange...

The Mavs best 5-men lineup haven't logged 100+ minutes together yet, among the playoff teams in the West, the Mavs have, by far, the most amount of injuries by starters and key role players. But somehow, this is barely mentioned ever. Haters will call him stat padder when what he does on the court does not fit the definition. He doesn't hunt or steal rebounds, plus, a lot of his assists are not simple hand off easy dimes, he literally creates open shots with his passing, it's how he deceives defenders into a bait to force them to make a decision so he can make his. None of this is stat padding. He still complains a lot, he is not good on help D, but the way he solves defenses, it's basically him and Jokic, his iso defense has become MUCH better, when the team is healthy his usage got significantly lower than in previous years, he got better in most of his shooting stats, he has the highest points generated by a single player in NBA history and some more.

Yeah, people forgot how Westbrook had been hunting for those rebounds, sometimes fighting his own teammates to get one. I don’t recall Luka making a pass and complain to his teammates for not shooting to get him an assist like Russ did. Bulls have triple-teamed Luka to contain him and break the streak, lol.

Quick answer: - One of the three best players in the league this season (arguably THE best player) - Top 5 player in the league for the past 5 seasons - Well on his way to being a Top 10 player in NBA history, maybe Top 5, maybe in the GOAT conversation if he wins a few championships And he just turned 25. Plenty of time to make history.

Also please that's 2 years ago already, after that lucky year they didn't even make it to the playoffs and now they struggle to maintain their position for the play-ins. Let's be real, Luka is a good player, but don't get too exaggerated. He's just a worse version of Harden the only difference is he got lucky and became the core player of he's team from the start while Harden played as stand-ins for he's first 3 years.

At the end of the day, it is selling out your fans to lose thousands of dollars long-term. Obviously it's everyone's personal decision whether or not they partake, but I look at this at the same way I look at advertisements for cigarettes.

I know he mentioned the quick chemistry Luka has with Gafford but it makes me wonder how players and coaches make that adjustment when a mid-season trade is made. Do they just watch a lot of film on the guy to determine his preferred spots? Is it just conversations they have during shoot around?

Luka loves to run the pick and roll action and Gafford is one of the best rollers and finishers in the pick and roll so it was a match made in heaven. There wasn't much to figure out between the two when their games already complimented each other.

@@isakmaaan0326 Mavs have not won a playoff series without Jason Kidd involved since 2006. They overachieved in 2022 getting to the WCF. They've won 12 of their last 17 games, the team is starting to gel at the right time, you should chill on Kidd and give him a chance. The team is 1.5 games out of 5th, and given all the injuries, 5th would be pretty good in a conference this loaded. Did you come into this season thinking they'd be the 1 or 2 seed with this roster? I doubt it. 4th-6th is pretty much where most realistic Mavs fans hoped we'd finish.

How good is he? He can potentially be a top-3 player all-time in the goat conversation. I think he's already a top-25 player all-time. According to the Basketball Reference HoF Probability predictor formula, based on his current accolades, he has a 47.9% chance of being selected to the Hall of Fame. According to the same model, Tatum has a 20.1% chance, and Booker has a 2.6% chance. And both have been it the league longer than Luka.

@@bballbreakdown The ball isn't full of helium. It doesn't float off your hand. If your hand is under the ball the fact that there is contact means that there is upward pressure and it is being supported and your dribble is over. Or ought to be. Anyway, IMO LD gathers the ball with his right foot on the ground and his left heading downward but slightly in the air, so that right is his "gather" or "zero" step. But that's hard to see in real time so let's say that we don't count the gather until after the left foot gets to and is on the ground. From there' it's right-left-right and a jump off both feet. You can't seriously argue that the first step back onto the right foot isn't after the gather. So...three steps, minimum. Arguably four. It's a travel.
