Kingdom Hearts games have always had stunning and beautiful intros to the games. Each Game seemed to always re-cap or showed past scenes from the games, however Kingdom Hearts 1 had nothing to work off of, so how did they animate it for the first ever game of the series? Guess we'll just have to see.

Hopefully this video won't have the opposite effect my other ones did where they were too low and this one being too loud. What intro is your favorite of the series? DDD is mine!

KH1 is my favorite one. DDD is close second because people don't appreciate the dream eater system. Also the video audio was fine to me. I personally didn't like the jokes and memes thrown in maybe to keep my attention. And personally i feel when kh4 comes out will have more context on this opinion and sora deep thoughts

@drayko101 I threw those in to be slightly less different from informative types with things I find funny, but I want to experiment while I can and craft my editing skills. Also it was to keep my own attention at times LOL

KH2 is definitely my favorite. It's just so freaking magical to me. Sanctuary is soooo beautiful and I love a lot of the cool camera angles and art direction that opening does.

@@OblivionofPathos My favorite part of KH2's opening is the fight between Sora and Marluxia going along with the Music and it cutting between that and Riku vs Ansem. Such a great OP

Finally some love for the DDD opening. That opening was super beautiful and is probably my favorite one along with 0.2 BBS's opening.

I enjoyed your take on it all, havent previously considered all the takes on Sora's personality. And if I may add to the analysis, the intro foreshadows the whole plot of the game. Sora starts in a dark dream, quickly waking up to an island paradise. The ocean symbolizes darkness, Riku confidently accepted the tide as Sora rushes in to save him. Despite his best efforts, Riku and Sora are separated by the darkness. A.k.a. the fall of the island, and the boys' rivalry throughout the game. The moment he holds out his hand in the story is at the beginning, when he accepts the darkness and escapes the fall of the islands. Eventually, Sora fights his way thru, and makes it to safety, meeting Kairi. Here is the only time Sora is shown happy, with the person he cares for most. However, fate pulls them apart again. Kairi remains on the shore while Sora dives again into the dark. This sequence matches with Sora fighting thru Hollow Bastion, saving Kairi, and sharing a moment with her in the Traverse Town cavern. At that point Sora says he has to leave to go save the day again. It could also reflect when they part ways after closing the Door to Kingdom Hearts. As in the opening sequence, they reach out for each other, but fate drives them away. The meteor shower in the background reflects the restoration of the worlds at the end of the game. In the end, Sora dives once more into the dark, but he'll be alright. Because even after he falls to the darkest depths, as he steps forward, he discovers a light, a light that never goes out. His own Dive into the Heart, where he discovers himself. --- bonus points for bookending the sequence with Sora sinking down. The whole sequence happens over a single day, each time of day matching with its relevant moment in the story. Riku at the beginning, Kairi at the final hours, and Sora discovering the final light in the darkest depths.

In all my time playing I never picked up on the foreshadowing of the entire story in this opening. 😭

so it all starts in KH1 with Sora dreaming and wondering if any of it is real.....then in KH4 he wakes up in Shibuya (real world) also when he falls after the kairi bit, there is shooting stars. Didn't we learn something from kh3 about stars and hearts? i don't remember exactly but all this is just now popping in my head so i guess it's time to go do some research.

If Im remembering right shooting stars are the barriers of the world that got destroyed and fell down as gummi blocks too. In KH3 your heart looks like a star symbol in The Final World

Keep in mind that Nomura did not have the whole KH series planned out when he made the first game. He basically just pulled stuff out of his ass with each new game, so there really wouldn't be any deep symbolism linking anything from the first opening to stuff later in the series. At least not in a way that was intended when the first game was made.
@zanebaker3394
@zanebaker3394 Ай бұрын
Not trying to be a shithead, mostly just trying to point out that Nomura absolutely did not have it all planned out the way it is now. These days, nobody really knows for sure exactly what's going on or why, but originally things were much simpler. Not to mention stuff from KH1 completely contradicts the rest of the series. For example, when Sora finally got to Hollow Bastion and Riku took the Keyblade from him, remember what he said? "There can't be two Keyblade Masters" The way things are now, basically everybody is a Keyblade Master. Aside from Sora.
@KingdomCakes
@KingdomCakes Ай бұрын
@@zanebaker3394 I think the whole "there can't be two keyblade masters" Was always going to be a misdirection. We see that not only Riku was suppose to wield the keyblade, but Sora does now and King Mickey too. Granted, they probably never meant for it to be a huge thing in the present games, but honestly at this point I don't mind it. I love the out there stuff for the series, retcons/changes to things in context all of it since I find they tend to mix it in with the story over all. But with this series as big as it is now, maybe we can get less of that in the new Arc.

Not sure if it was intentional or not, but Snow White (aka the first Disney animated film) being the first Disney property shown in the whole franchise was a clever little detail that I love.

Putting my own thoughts here: I've always assumed that the scene where, 1) The waves coming behind and enveloping Riku and Sora as Darkness coming to claim him (Nomura has stated before that water = Darkness). Then afterwards, Riku seems fine while Sora is very much struggling, is basically: Riku fully accepting the Darkness while Sora is scared and unsure. 2) I see Riku reaching out as Sora runs after him, as a symbolism of Riku wanting his best friend to follow him, but outside forces/Darkness doesn't allow him to do that. Then continuing to separate them. (Just like in the game) For the Kairi bit I'm not too sure. But if I were to put my own thoughts it would be: 3) Kairi reaching out to Sora as he falls maybe could hint at her helping him throughout the game; and it's as if they're in different plains of existence = she's in his heart. (I also want to point out Sunset = Kairi as stated by Nomura) 4) Sora falling further and deeper into the water could also be a foreshadowing of him turning into a heartless after his sacrifice. Which could also tie in Kairi reaching out as her attempting to save him. 5) Probably wasn't thought of during the making of KH1 but: Sora falling onto the Snow White heart station could be a foreshadowing/hint toward Ventus being in his heart, since Ventus is always represented with Snow White (in an eternal slumber/death).

In Japan the flying white doves carrying swords symbolized the end of a war. Wonder what that might mean for Sora with the flying doves here. Does it symbolize more of a beginning? Or the end of a Great War to come?

Kingdom Hearts was always designed to be a series, so the loose ends make sense. Overall I'd give it a solid 8/10. Both gameplay and story hold up very well.

I think what they intended to do with Riku in the sea was to show that he would stand a chance against darkness. The sea being an imaginary of deep darkness and how he was going to jump right in the future but not be consumed by it, due to his heart eventually creating an immunity. To me the sea pushing Sora symbolizes how sora is not meant for darkness too and how he will struggle to reach his friend hence the story of KH1. In KH darkness goes hand in hand with deep waters, as we can see the same happening to Aqua in KH3 when she was attacked by SoD and was sinking where eventually Sora saves her.

You missed a small detail, an important one IMO. When Sora lands on what will be the Station of Heart, he steps backwards a little bit, like he is confused. The doves do not fly... until his very first step FORWARD. I think that's a beautiful symbol.

I never really noticed the step forward. But you're absolutely right. Because no matter where you are, your future and a new chapter doesn't start until you take that step forward, even if it's an accidental one.

You don't need to joke about being crazy because you didn't analyze the intro enough lol! Seriously there's some pretty substantial psychology that backs up what you're saying about how it represents Sora's inner thoughts. If you read about Carl Jung and dreams he says dreams are the biggest window into our subconcious. And the subconcious and unconcious are represented by water. Jung also talks about the Shadow self (our darkness) and we just straight up see Sora's shadow self come from him and becomen a Heartless in the tutorial right after this while still in a dream.
