Comedy is subjective and I think some audiences took it out if proportion. And some of it IS funny. But did it need to be a beat-for-beat reboot?

Well here are the reasons I’ve heard before and since this film came out: All female cast Shoving female empowerment down your throats If it’s a reboot then why is it following the first films formula? The comedy is cringe worthy The characters are awful, unfunny or both Leslie Jones’s character is practically an African American stereotype The cameos from the original cast aren’t funny, sad The villain is uninteresting, has no charm, his plan makes no sense The mayor and his staff are idiots And that’s what I can remember off the top of my head

Because it takes all the elements of the first movie, and turn it into a pile of nothing but stupid garbage

To be fair think it's more of how the movie was portrayed and the writing. It tried to stand on its own, while trying to pay some homage to the original in a small way with cameos and certain events. And while the actresses are known comedians, the movie just amped the absurdity to a ridiculous level that made it feel more like a joke overall. Put it this way, you watch the original Ghostbuster movies and Afterlife you get comedy, but you also get those moments of actual uncertainty and that unsettledness that pairs with the paranormal in general. Here it doesn't even have the uncertainty or that hint of unsettledness, and honestly feels like something akin to the live action Scooby Doo movies with the campiness. Which in itself would be okay had they avoided trying to pull off cameos with some of the original cast and following the original sequences of the original Ghostbusters. If they still wanted cameos, then would have been better to write a new story from the ground up and play it off as an original. This movie felt more like a slap to the older generation to some, and that might not have been the intention. But it's harder to deny that it felt like it. I personally could have cared less if the cast was male or female, wanted an engaging story and this movie fell flat just cause everything from the beginning to the end just felt like way too many things were trying to be done all at once and none of it really came together in a meaningful way if that makes sense.

Because this is Female/Lady version of Ghostbusters and they used some of new Proton Weapons like Proton Dual-Pistols, Proton Launcher, Vacuum Shredder and Proton Grenade that were not part from Original Ghostbusters and they ruined the OG Series (Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, Ghostbusters The Video Game). Although Ghostbusters Afterlife saved the OG Series Timeline ending Egon Spengler's story

@@coolman837 It doesn't feel like a true Ghostbusters movie. Rather, it's a Paul Feig style parody of one. Not to mention, the political agenda the filmmakers and Sony's marketing team were trying to force upon the audience before and after the release of the movie.
