Welcome to the Ghosts of Cardiff Castle!
This video focuses on the hauntings at Cardiff Castle, a major landmark in the beautiful city of Cardiff, Wales. Who haunts Castle and Duke Street, the Castle’s library, chapel, the Banqueting Hall and the nursery? Is the famous clock tower haunted? The second and third Marquess of Bute did so much to shape the city of Cardiff; a city built on the coal and Iron industries. If you ever get a chance to go to Cardiff Castle, it’s really worthwhile. The rooms are simply exquisite and the colours and textures are stunning.
As a bonus, I’ve included a nearby pub, directly across from the Castle where you can have a pint with an amazing view of the Castle. Just be careful in those toilets! I have also shared an incident that happened when I was on a school trip to Cardiff Castle many years ago. Let me know your thoughts on my rambling!
As always, I hope you enjoy these tales from the beautiful Cardiff Castle. Feel free to leave a comment. Thank you so much for your kind words and comments. They mean so much to me. Please feel free to Like and Subscribe to the channel.

I visited Cardiff Castle many years ago, from Canada, and have never been able to forget the beauty of it. It did not seem like a happy place to me though. There was something unsettling about it. One thing I loved was the little animals carved into the woodwork, in particular a little squirrel that seemed like it could just have perched there and been turned to wood.

It’s amazing. I always loved the animal wall and the clock tower. The blue of the clock is so intense, I’d just gaze up at it whilst waiting for the bus home. So beautiful!

When I was in Cardiff University, I lived In Coldstream Terrace which is just at the end of the bridge. In the early hours of the morning, I heard the coach and horses pass. It was very loud and clear. There was no mistaking what it was. I saw nothing, and I hadn't heard about the ghost story. It was scary and I saw nothing. Learned later what it was.

Hi, awesome live ghosts stories, I enjoyed it. I saw a ghost when I was nine years old back in 1990. He was inside haunting the lighthouse. He was dressed in 19th century clothing. He vanished before my eyes inside the lighthouse when he looked out the lighthouse window at us. I'll never forget that day. Your videos are always enjoyable and relaxing. Have a great day. See you next video greetings from Canada 😊

@@ghostcasebook1266 I use to have a type of gift. I also encountered my great great grandfather in France in the old farm house that he built in the 19th century. He wasn't that scary. He just looked at me and vanished. He haunts my old families farm house to this day.

This was very interesting especially your own stories at the end. It sounds like poor Anthony was attacked with extraordinary force by the evil entity in the nursery. Scary when one who no longer exists can literally cause actual physical harm to a living person.

Thank you for the haunted tales of Cardiff Castle and your personal recollections as well. It's quite mysterious and frightening that your classmate Antony was injured in that manner. I can only wonder why some people's spirits would hold such hostility and bitterness that they would want to injure people.

People die as they have lived; some a life of productivity and blessings, and others miserable and jealous. They carry these energies into the astral realm where spirits of all kinds roam. Some are still very attached to the earthly plane and condemn themselves to seek restitution in spirit form. They can muster enough force to physically move objects, or worse yet, make an effort to possess the human under attack and attempt control of that victim. I have personally witnessed all of these paranormal phenomena. I am a professor of Psychology so I recognize what lies within and just beyond the light of Science & Reason.

Cardiff Castle is absolutely beautiful, so much to see and absorb. Lovely words on the Marquess bust - Fell asleep and woke in eternity. The Rummer pub reminds me of the King Charles pub in Poole. Dorset. The ladies toilets are rumoured to be haunted. The landlady hung herself upstairs thinking her love had died at sea but he had not and upon finding her stabbed himself and died, think it was in the 17th century. Anyway I digress- loved the video and sure I too, would faint in that nursery, as beautiful as it is. Thanks so much, thoroughly enjoyed as always😱🙂

Thank you so much! This was wonderful and Cardiff Castle is lovely. Just do you know, I have visited many places where there was a nursery. The overwhelming feeling of sadness, in my experiences, has been due to the fact that a child or several children died all those years ago. Sometimes their nanny or nurse is still there in spirit with them (because child spirits seem to have trouble crossing into the light without help). So there is the sadness anyone feels when their children pass.

@@ghostcasebook1266 You know, in these homes that have been around for hundreds of years, somebody’s child probably passed away. Penicillin was only discovered in the early 1900s; those poor children of earlier times - no antibiotics! We can take so many things for granted in modern times.

@@ghostcasebook1266 I have been thinking about this since our last comments. And I did rewatch the video. My thoughts: people have been known to faint at various places at Hampton Court. And I have been to a lot of historical places and the nurseries always have activity and always feel creepy to me. BUT yes, the doll blinking is outside the normal para activity level. That is probably some other energy. And certainly Anthony’s getting whacked across the back of his head and needing stitches is also something unusual and not a good energy. I personally mostly avoid nurseries at these places; I never like them. I would think there can be several energies at one place BTW. I wonder if any paranormal groups have been to Cardiff Castle?

@Ghost Casebook I love that castle 😍. Even down to how they preserved and outlined the historical portion of the castles walls, before rebuilding it to its full and current heights, makes you feel connected to its different layers of use and history. The view from the Bailey tower is an epic sight. Views of how big the butes private estate was, with the folly, Castle Coch in the distance. Look south towards the modern buildings of the city centre with the millennium stadium in the background. Beautiful. The paranormal tour at night, toured the main rooms of the victorian mansion, clock tower and gate house tower. You really get a feel for the place, hearing stories of the ghostly carriage delivering news of a family loss. Sophia (pronounced, so-fire) for who the nearby Sophia gardens are named. How the marques' interest in the paranormal was possibly due to the early loss of his parents, as well as the fascination of high society at the time. But that top most room of the clock tower is possibly one of the most impressive dedications to all manners of links to the other and this world. Not only Star constellations, but humankind is represented in our many forms, the four elements and the zodiac. It's a beautiful melding of the themes. We didn't get to visit the balcony but I saw him up there, looking down quizzically at the group, n then looking off out the window into the distance.

Thank you so much and you’re right, that could have been an injury from a catapult. It’s not a very big room in comparison to other rooms. The door and fireplace were on his left, the wall was behind him and the windows to the right. The cut was on the lower right side of his head. But he was tall so his head was up higher, as a target I suppose. Who knows? 🙋‍♀️👻

This was absolutely fascinating! I love British history and castles. What makes it all the more complete, is your experience with the place you are talking about. The nursery is very disturbing, as it would be distinctly associated with joy, love and happiness. Does the stage coach still show up at the death of a family member? Loved your videos!

I visited the castle in the mid 90’s. The tour took our group up a tower. In The room at the top, I was shocked to see a portrait of my ancestor, with his name on a placket, Sir Faulk Grenville. Shivers ran up my spine and the air was thick with his presence.

Cardiff Castle amazed me that it was "built" (or re-built), with later additions and remodeling so recently, except the Norman portions of it, but could pass as the multiple centuries old castle that had been destroyed or gone to ruin... And, it's interior designs had me baffled as to which style the decorators and architechs were trying to decide on, as it's quite eclectic... Do the peacocks still inhabit the interior grounds??... I'm surprised you didn't tour inside the Norman part inside the castle walls, with all the statues of the Norman soldiers, horses, chariots, etc. (they were a bit dusty way back when, so I can understand leaving it out if the area still wasn't tended to properly)... The same with the OLD Norman Keep, but then again, nothing was on the inside...But, it did have a great view from the top of Castle Street, and the river with it's beautiful flower gardens, plus the pagan stone circle just outside the castle wall... Beautiful and historic shots!!

Yes there’s so much there to cover and the peacocks are possibly the most scary thing! The Norman Keep didn’t feature in the video and there’s lots more to cover. They’ve opened up some of the tunnels as a world war 2 exhibition and also there’s an exhibition in the Black Tower now that you have to purchase. 👻🙋‍♀️

I discovered they do ghost tours at Cardiff Castle but I have never been on one but if you like that sort of thing, that’s an option. I think you could spend many weeks exploring the haunted locations of Wales and you’d need to visit for many months to cover London! I hope you get to visit one day. I love Australia 👻🙋‍♀️🙏

What a beautiful place! Your pictures are wonderful. The guide staff at Cardiff Castle must have many, stories of happenings in the castle, but especially in the nursery. It is not unusual for seriously haunted spaces to have physical impact on the living. Dizziness, fainting, nausea. Actual physical injury is an indicator of something really dark in that space. From your description of the occult activity that is known, they could easily have invited something in; perhaps even done so deliberately. You also mentioned that ghost hunters have been on the site. I hate to say it, but many of these groups are thrill seekers who do not know either what they are doing or what they are dealing with. It can be dangerous activity, leaving consequences for those who come after. Nicola, I had certainly heard of Cardiff, but this video has led me to start looking for other videos of the city, it's history, the castle and historical sites. And may I say, I just love that they kept the parts of the roman wall from the original fort!! Great work as always!

I have a lot more to cover from Cardiff itself including a few more personal stories. It’s a big city, sort of split with the docks (Cardiff Bay) and then the city centre. The Butes had another lavish castle in North Cardiff that I’m going to cover. It’s not as big but it is just as opulent as you can imagine! Then there’s the valleys where my dad comes from, the further afield to Swansea and Newport. lots of creepy stories to cover!

Today, on 2 June 2023 around noon, I saw the doll on a chair in the nursery room of Cardiff Castle. I did not see this video and heard of any story about the castle before. I've been to Cardiff Castle many times but once was enough for the nursery. I found the room to be oppressive with what I can only describe as a threatening atmosphere, I remember thinking what a horrible place for children to spend most of their time in. My son, who was around 6 or 7 years old at the time gripped my hand tightly and told me he could see an angry face staring at him which vanished as soon as he started to speak about it. I didn't see it, my son when asked if it was a man or woman said it was just an angry face. Childish imagination putting a face to the oppressive atmosphere or a manifestation of a rather unpleasant entity? He used to call it the nasty nursery and always made it clear he didn't want to go there on subsequent visits to the Castle. I was more than happy to comply!

I had a strange dream about a castle months prior where I was in a tower partially in ruins and quite old. I was in the U S Merchant Marine then. We docked in Newport, but time to go around and see sights. Cardiff Castle and the grounds of it. Then the dream clicked with what I was seeing. The Welsh were friendly, liked Wales.

What a beautiful Castle. I remember the first time I saw Buckingham Palace from overhead and how strange it looked to me with all of the modern buildings around it. Oh wow I’m so pleased you enjoyed it so much! Thank you for such a kind comment. That nursery. It definitely feels like it would have been quite a strict and orderly place. It feels very sombre Victorian if that makes sense. None of the four children died in infancy. But the banqueting hall was created from seven bedrooms and whether the nursery was used for something else before William Burges created it, I don’t know. It’s jumpy!

Excellent. I've never been to Cardiff Castle, but I'm spending 2 weeks in Wales in the summer....so I might visit. That nursery makes me think of the house I grew up in. There was a mischievous entity ... a child....and a really malevolent one. The child was also afraid of the nasty one, as my three sisters and I were. We had many experiences - but my parents none, although they believed us as they had both had experiences elsewhere themselves. It picked on us when we were alone. We would go to the toilet in pairs for fear of it, even in the daytime. It was a 1930's semi in South London, but before those houses were built, it had been the grounds of a big manor house. We had many experiences there. I love your stories.

Oh have a great stay in Wales! I would say email Cardiff castle ahead of time to check they don’t have a wedding on the day you plan to visit. Cardiff Castle isn’t cheap and when they have a wedding they close off large sections which means you don’t get to see the whole castle. The Butes also had a summer castle in North Cardiff called Castell Coch or Red Castle. That’s worth a look too but again, check for weddings! Possibly the most haunted place in South Wales is Llancaiach Fawr manor. Very odd things happen there! It’s about an hour of so into the valleys at Nelson. I made a ghosts of Wales video recently and if you get a chance to go to Powis castle, it is AMAZING! 🙋‍♀️👻🙏

I’ve gone with different family members each time and each time this horrid man snapped at or embarrassed someone on the tour. Once he yelled at some poor guy accusing him of leaning on a wall.
