"A flaw in the welding" is also more of a craftsmanship issue than a design issue, which is absolutely absurd to not have been addressed two PA models later. With the level of care the writers put into the rest of the show, they absolutely could’ve written a better line.

@@blackvial that doesn’t address the problem at all; both were designs made after the T-45, which designers could’ve taken the flaws and improved upon them after seeing their record in Anchorage. Which is still irrelevant, since “a fault in the welding” is not a flaw of the design, but a flaw of the craftsmanship in the suits Cooper would be familiar with. Point I was trying to make is, whoever was in charge with this scene could’ve come up with another way for Cooper to gun down a whole squad of BoS. Like the eyepieces; if he manages to land eye shots on every knight in that room, it makes Cooper look badass more badass, and uses a flaw which is design-based, not individual based. Which would also be consistent with the other PA, since in Fallout 76 there’s a minor plot line regarding a BoS T-51 helmet with a bullet hole in its vision slit (iirc).

You gotta love the fear he gave them. A full squad of the brotherhood, many with power armor. And yet, a single ghoul, with a single shot, killed one of them. They all forgot they had flashlights on their helmets. Call it a writing error, I call it the Terrifying Presence perk

Well...that and Brotherhood combat tactics are more focused on large group engagements than single targets. Particularly highly skilled, experienced, and informed targets. Also they REALLY don't know how to deal with a good old fashioned ambush.

I love how The Ghoul has instantly become a fan favorite. In my opinion he’s quickly become one of the most badass and iconic characters in the entire Fallout series. He’s right up there with Joshua Graham for me now honestly.

I mean, it almost kind of makes sense that THE Vault Boy would be one of the biggest badasses of the Wasteland considering he's the (heavily mutated) face of the franchise. There’s a hidden reference to the ghoul in the fallout 4 next gen update. There’s a terminal entry in a new mission called “When pigs fly” that talks about an arms dealer who started selling grenade launchers based on stories he heard from a ghoul client who fought in Alaska and had to deal with Chinese grenade launchers that tore through power armor like tissue paper.

Power armour's always been a liability if not used correctly. In lore, even a t51b could get shot through by a hunting rifle or shotgun slug.

The members of the BoS seemed like rookies in the show. Even the higher ups didn't seem to be smart at all. And judging from the dialogue of the Knights, they don't sound too confident in their power armour or in combat. Makes sense that they were defeated by Cooper Howard on multiple occasions.

Panic, like the ghoul said, they believe they are invincible in that suit. When they saw someone gunning one of them down in one shot, they are shocking. It's also establish in the show this chapter are pretty weak, Titus for example runaway from Yao guai even after he got the upper hand in the fight. Hell, even NCR remnants give them a beating.

Back then? I think he was just toying with Maximus, recognizing that whoever was in the suit had no idea had to use it. He certainly shot bullet after bullet into it, but he never went for the kill till the end, the entire encounter in Philly was just the ghoul playing with everyone.

I'm seeing a lot of people saying how the BoS forgot to turn on their helmet light. What if those knights just panicked and forgot? They just saw one of their own in a power armor get shot once and go down like nothing. Panic sets in and training goes out the window and I think that not a lot of those knights are experienced so the first time they realize that they're not invincible, they start panicking. And as for the why the Ghoul didn't kill Maximus that way when they first fought, he noticed whoever was driving was new and just taunts him like the scene where he went up the stairs and the one where he tells Maximus that he's driving the armor like a shopping cart. And maybe because he wasn't carrying those armor piercing rounds he used in this scene. Cause I imagine that the welding, although flawed, would need a pretty big caliber or an AP round to be exploited. Those armors are built like a tank and I doubt a 9mm or even 7.62 is gonna be able exploit that flaw..

So, if he knew of the weakness why didn't he do it when Max attacked him in the T-60 and secondly, if they wanted to make this cool scene by Coop "The Ghoul" shooting the weakness why didn't they make him shoot the eye, I think I remember a story where someone killed a BoS knight by shooting him in the eye, like that would be so much cooler.

He was just playing with Maximus in Filly, he knew right away he was a newbie. Not to mention he uses armor-piercing ammunition when fighting the Brotherhood, perhaps he didn't have that when he fought Maximus, or he had a limited amount and preferred to keep it.

He has that same ability Denzel has, where he can say very little, combine it with the perfect facial expressions, and create an unforgettable scene.

0:24 the round he is holding is called a SABOT, Sabots are structural devices used with firearm usually shotgun or cannon ammunition to make a smaller calibre bullet fit into a larger calibre barrel. A sabot is simply a relatively thick, tough and deform-able plastic or soft metal seal that traps propellant gases behind the projectile that forces the sabot and bullet out of the barrel of a rifle. this one seems to be semi fin discarding giving the sound on impact before the trooper falls. even if they had fixed the weld issues in the chest plate seams. the moment the trooper was hit. the core of the sabot imparted so much kinetic energy his insides where soup and he was gone before he fell. over

My only real gripe with the series was this gunfight, the T-60 armour has a flashlight right on the friggin helmet. I still love the show but that flashlight scene just total broke the immersion for me, I use that flashlight all the time in game.

I think you missed the point, it hall happened so quick, none of the brotherhood knights had seen that kind of firepower before. Cooper exploited their fear and they couldn’t react in any other way other than panic shoot into the darkness. By the time they figured it out the ghoul had already stacked bodies…. Terrifying presence perk 🥶

People are asking "Why didn't he use the weakspot when fighting Maximus?" That's because when he mentioned the weakspot, he was referring to the T-45 model wgich he used. He never used the T-60 model and didn't know it had the similar flaw.

Well the point to me is that the armor did because i believe thats the same guy who walks in headless. I think he got the nade into the neck joint and the concussion took the knights head off

On a T-51 this strategy would no longer work. It only works on T-60 because they are just a refurbished and modernized version of the T-45 made to cut costs; Since the design is practically the same the flaw still exists.

Hope we get a revival of the Enclave in general. Maybe with new leadership and a more grey morale. Maybe even push them in a more good direction which will make it difficult to choose between them and the Brotherhood

Love the scene, but let’s be honest. If the Brotherhood turned and saw a Ghoul nonchalant, loading a gun, the scene really plays out like this: The Ghoul: *whistles* *Brotherhood members turn* The Ghoul: I bet that - *Brotherhood opens fire* END SCENE.

Kinda seems like bullshit about the T-60 having the same flaw as the T-45 that Cooper wore because: A.) There's no way that the Brotherhood R&D wouldn't remedy the problem of the, lore-wise, "most widely used pre-war suit of power armor. " B.) I saw a comment from a certified welder on Reddit who said even if it WAS true, the flawed weld would happen on an individual, per-suit basis and not across the whole model range, since properly welding something generally makes it stronger than just a regular piece of metal.

the people who manufactured the power armor (west tek) canonically cut corners all the time, so i think that the flawed welding was known about, but west tek chose not to fix it.

Remember when the ghoul was fighting Maximus who was tryna protect Lucy? if the ghoul knew the power armor's weakness, then he could've easily killed Maximus with a well placed shot below the chest plate but he didn't do that despite Maximus's slow movement while wearing the armor this is just a small continuity error that i would like to point out

Nah, he was just playing with Maximus in Filly, he knew right away he was a newbie. Not to mention he uses armor-piercing ammunition when fighting the Brotherhood, perhaps he didn't have that when he fought Maximus, or he had a limited amount and preferred to keep it.
