In 1984 Manchester United were the FA cup holders and, under Ron Atkinson, were mounting a serious bid to end their seventeen year wait for a League title. A trip to relegation-haunted Third Division side, Bournemouth wasn't even considered worthy of the BBC Match of the day cameras. Young Bournemouth manager, Harry Redknapp had other ideas and fancied that his side could pose the stars of United a problem. Despite being part of one of the biggest giant-killing upsets in history as an Oxford player 20 years earlier, Big Ron took his seat in the dugout unconcerned at the idea of a cupset.
