She's has gone to be with the Father(God)

When I was young we used to attend at her home church service and met her a few times. And we saw her preach dozens of times as well at her home church, and also attended maybe a dozen of her miracle services in different locations. She held a regular church service at the Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown Ohio. We would go there just about every Sunday and she was there only once every month on Sunday and her assistant pastor David Vercelli held the service 3 weeks out of 4 while she was away in other cities at various miracle service crusades she'd hold. She was very much a down to earth person and friendly. She basically smiled and said something to the effect of how nice the weather was outside when we met her on her way out of the auditorium. She would often come back and tell us stories of what she had seen in the different miracle services which was entertaining. She didn't hold miracle services at her home church but gave sermons. There were about 140 people in her home church choir which was excellent to be in and sing in. I sang tenor in her choir several times. Although I didn't always sing in the choir often I was in the audience with my parents. They had excellent music and people of course loved her. She was very humble. Also there were interesting aspects to her services which we wondered about later if they were ordered in a way to avoid actually profiting off the miracles that were happening. What I mean by this was they always took offerings at the beginnings of miracle services never at the end after all the miracles happened. Those services were very long 5 hours. And the miracles always seemed to happen in the last 90 minutes. When she was sick her foundation had her assistant pastor David stand in for a miracle service scheduled in Pittsburg and her assistant pastor came back and said he didn't know what to expect as he never held a miracle service like that and had a prayer line for the sick which she didn't have in her services. He said he prayed and told God he'd just hold a prayer line for the entire auditorium if he had to. When he got on stage at that service he said the Holy Spirit's power came into the auditorium and it was like he could just sit down on the stage and watch God work as miracles happened in the service without his laying hands on anyone in the audience, people just started to get healed. Some of the others who were at that service from the church said to us "more miracles happened in the auditorium when David held the service than when Kathryn was holding them". Usually a hundred or more were healed and this often in the audience. Many prayed and fasted before the services and everyone was often praying for others when they arrived there and saw others perhaps in worse shape than they were. David her assistant pastor didn't stay in her foundation because the leadership would not open up the foundation books to him and just wanted him to run the services but not be involved in looking at the finances, so her home church decided to go with him as their pastor once she had passed away. She died in 1976 one year to the day after one of her music leaders had passed away. Her choir director. Her pianist was still alive and worked at her home church as well. The foundation had Benny Hinn take over her duties to run the miracle services once she passed away and he later broke away and had his own miracle ministry. I also have been to his miracle services mostly locally. Benny Hinn had a bit more emphasis on the being slain in the spirit than Kathryn did and perhaps about 1/3 the people in his meetings as far as numbers claimed to be healed or receive a miracle. More were slain or fell on stage at his services or it seemed that way, which may sound strange but that's what I noted when I was seeing his services. . . there was a bit more emphasis on that for some reason by him. But I think more were healed or had miracles in her services. That is a somewhat subjective thing however as some of the services we saw of his were with smaller crowds. Although I think we were at one large one. It seemed to us she had about 3 times more miracles happening in her services. Back then when we heard someone having cancer we would often say "no big deal we will pray for you that God can heal you" we were seeing so many miracles we almost thought of a bad news of cancer by someone as something like a cold or some light trouble. This of course probably made others a bit unsettled when seeing folks with that much faith in God and prayer. Miracles and a movement of God seemed so strong. A lot of people fasted and prayed before her services and the large number of people from all denominations may have added to the power and presence of God, because there was more of the body of Christ from all different churches present. I've often thought that Paul's complaint about Division in the bible in the church is based on a dilution of power in the church. With all our petty clubs of this church of that church being better and demands to be different we may be dislocating the body of Christ one from another and the local church body may be weaker. But others of course might observe when healings and miracles happen the crowds grow bigger and crowds are more exited and will grow so you'll see a groundswell of a movement like a flood of the Spirit of God lifting all Christians like ducks in a rising tide that causes them to all swim together above the fences we may have that keep us apart.

My mom and dad would load up us kids into the car and we'd go to the auditorium but we lived in Michigan and the trip took about 4 hours from the Detroit area. We'd leave at 5am in the morning to go to church and arrive later at night of course. My dad would tell people at his workplace about the stuff we'd see and we'd watch her show on TV each week as well which was on Channel 9 in Canada which we could view in the Detroit area. She also had a radio program on the local radio which my folks would listen to. My dad would tell guys at work about what we saw and some of them of course were skeptics and would try to offer their own versions of how the strange phenomenon of being slain in the spirit happened. Some guessed she had wires up her long sleeves and would shock people and they'd fall. And my dad said, well her dresses and sleeves were very thin and you could see that there were no wires going down her sleeves. Some said she had wires under a carpet on the floor, but my dad replied the floors of the stage are wood, there are no carpets. One engineer where my dad worked thought they beamed some kind of a beam down the spotlight to sap people, which we laughed at as an explanation because there were just ordinary spot lights in the auditorium which were in no wise special with some kind of hidden beam powers and people reported being slain when she prayed for them while not on the stage. She also didn't have to touch people at all for them to fall under the power of God. She sometimes just waved her hand toward them or started to reach out to touch them and they would fall back. We saw a group of people in the front row of the choir fall when she walked by them as she was going out to preach. At one service while she was speaking a lady in the choir started to speak in Tongues out loud which was very unusual and almost never happened at her services which were held in a very strict and orderly way, not loud like some pentecostal services, they were more like a baptist service, than a holy roller service. And as that lady started to speak in tongues the entire choir of around 140 people all fell back into their chairs all at once. Never saw an entire choir slain in the spirit before or since. One day we were told that while Kathryn was preaching in the auditorium the children who were in Sunday school classes in the basement rooms of the auditorium were all slain in the spirit at the same time. So things like that did happen from time to time, but her Sunday services at her home church at that time were very much normal. People of course were excited to be at her services and everyone was quite nice. My father was a volunteer usher at a few of her miracle services and they would teach them to ask people who claimed to be healed to explain what was wrong with them before they were healed and asked them what they could not do and how they knew they were healed. When the person would pass by one usher another one would ask them the same thing. So people didn't just run up to the stage to claim they were healed in the services, they were actually running a gauntlet of ushers who would question whether they were healed. As she didn't want people to go up who were not healed in the audience. She didn't want people to go up and claim they were healed when they were not in the miracle services. Sometimes people would go up and pretend they were healed to get on a large stage for attention or perhaps to see what was going on, maybe to try to play a joke on her or the audience who knows. She told us of one call she got from a young man at one of the miracle services who was an atheist and went to a miracle service (I think it was in Hawaii, but it's been a long time since I heard that story) and he said he went with his friends to go there and make fun of the service. He actually went up and claimed to be healed on the stage and said after he fell down on stage and left he was shaking every since that service and he could not explain why he was still shaking. He asked her what he should do? And she said, she replied "don't make fun of God". So this was what our life was like or a bit of what it was like. We met people who attended her church who had been healed and saw people healed. My sister also one day made up a card with a faith filled message of a prayer for a middle aged guy who had a stroke and was paralyzed. My sister was quite young and wrote up a card and traced her own hand on it and put a message on the card saying that this healing hand is being sent with prayers for you. That guy recovered and walked, he was healed once he received this card of faith sent by my younger sister. Things like that seemed to happen and it was a time of great evangelism but also we were going to places where a lot was happening. It's difficult to not have faith in God when so many things were happening. I my self sprained an ankle very badly and could not walk on it and could not put any weight on it at all playing touch football when a much larger guy ran over my foot on the side of it and my foot was sideways while he stepped on my ankle. I thought I broke my ankle at first, but it seemed to be a very bad sprain. I was sitting on my porch and depressed I could not put any weight at all on my ankle. I decided to pray about it and asked God to heal me and said I would put my faith in him and stand up on it. I stood up and all pain had left. Minutes earlier I could put no weight at all on it and had hopped onto the porch on the other leg. I could bear no weight at all. But then I was healed instantly as a result of God. But then again later one time I was sick and asked and prayed to God hoping by faith to get healed of feeling sick and tried to walk by faith but seemed to be getting worse. I decided to go to the doctor and he told me it was a good thing I went. He gave me some medication for my ailment and said if I didn't see him I could have died. So sometimes we get healed and sometimes we don't and it can seem to be a mystery to us when we do or don't. If you never have been healed or seen miracles you might think they never happen. If you are around a lot of them they may seem commonplace and you may think everyone can get one anytime. Sometimes ministries try to find a formula or principle or even a checklist of faith or some process to hope to improve their chance at getting an answer from God to help them. There isn't a simple formula we Trust in God to do his will.
