But Ruby soon stumbles upon information that leads her to suspect that her new legal guardians might somehow be responsible for her parents' deaths. i wish they would make more mystery thrillers like this! this movie is the perfect MYSTERY SUSPENSE, no violence no fighting action, no chase scenes just perfect mysterious scary music and perfect story!!!

This movie is from 2001. The first time I'd watched it was back in 2003 when I was 13 and I liked as hell! Now that I was seeing this trailer it brought to be a strong nostalgia from this movie and from that time. How I miss those days! What a great period to live in.

I find it funny that the trailer was probably shot before the movie finished editing. I know the scene where Leelee is trashing her room is not in the movie, for example.

No there is lost footage the movie was 180 minutes long originally. The trailer even has phrases not in movies we have all seen. I just watched it tonight.

Despite the reviews trashed this movie. I really like the suspense of the story, even now. I watched this in 03' or 02', and I was around 4 or 5 years old; I felt so vulnerable imagining what if that happened to me?

i don't know if you watched this or not, but there are a few twists that aren't covered, and the movie will keep you on the edge of your seat, even though the preview did reveal a tad too much.

SPOILER ALERT: When Diane Lane's character is revealed as dead in Ruby's bed, she looks horrifically GREAT. Her eyes look pale and her expression is blank, but with a slight smile. I haven't seen the beginning of this movie, but with the most I've seen, it looks pretty good.

Last I heard, she’s not an actress anymore. The same happened with Elisha Cuthbert... but she still acts. The show “24” got her noticed so they put her on the big screen with “The Girl Next Door” in 2004. But unfortunately it wasn’t the successful hit that they had hoped it would be… and from then on she was only in movies that were total duds at the box office so she just went back to doing tv. She’s currently on that show The Ranch on Netflix

I love this thriller too. Leelee Sobieski and Diane Lane were great in it. The plot is OK, fairly see-through and obvious though, but it does have some twists that I(even though I may be alone on this) wasn't expecting.

Next a lot and piecing it together with how he found out stuff etc, but it still was a really good story up until the fighting and the mafia piling up it seemed very surreal and realistic happening in the quiet homes we see on the hills today that we never know the story

They were super crazy. I would have tried to stay with my uncle. At least give him a try, before moving in with them. There is NO way that they should have been sharing a room. SMH.

this movie is on abc family right now (strange film to put on that chanel) and let me tell you, I have not seen all of it, but those two "adopted Parents" or w/e scarred the S*%$ out of me. Especially the guy who seemed to want to control Ruby.
